  3. No Tradespeople doing work for me provide a breakdown as part of their invoice ie hourly rate, number of hours or materials cost.
One I asked said there wasn't enough room. Another, when requested for this information, sent it in the body of an email.
    Why is this happening?

Hi Sue, not really an idea as such here - this could be a question you ask in Discussion over in Xero central to understand how other businesses in Trades are working with invoicing.

The current fields of an invoice are listed here - the way you'd like to record hours and materials qty's associated to your work may be good to get advice from your advisor on.

For example, if you have regular services or items that you sell you could set these up as untracked items, and leave indicators int he description field of where you'd like a Tradesperson to write hours worked or Qty of materials used.

Alternatively, they could type the hours in the Qty and Price would be their hourly rate, or qty would be numbers of units of a material and price would be the cost per individual unit.

  4. Description against each transaction on the bank item should come through as "PAYEE" and not "Description". Bank Feed coming as "description" makes it difficult for bank rules as you cannot see the full description against each transaction when reconciled and this is sometimes stressful as you have to refer to bank statement all the time for full description.

Why when bank statements are imported, the description against the transaction is put through "PAYEE" and bank rules are much easier to make and the full description comes through.

Why not on a Bank Feed?

Hi Mayuri, the way data is imported into your bank account in Xero is through information provided and mapped by the bank. This isn't something we're able to control on an individual basis.

The only way to control how data is mapped into the fields in Xero would be to stop the bank feed and manually import statements to your org via CSV where you can map columns of your statement file to fields in Xero, however appreciate the efficiency you likely find from have statements automatically import to Xero.

  5. Xero does not list a public company as eligible for e-invoicng. The Australian Tax Office site does not restrict public companies from using e-invoicing, so can this feature be turned on by Xero?

We are a small not for profit company limited by guarantee and would like to be able to access e-invoicing.

Hi Shane, while we understand why you'd like eInvoice capability for a public company - The reason we don't allow registration for type of entities is that we're unable to reliably, and automatically identify this type of business entity which means that we do not permit registration.

While we are always reviewing our security processes and balancing the risks against customer impact, there are no plans to change this restriction

  6. They should add the option of payment with Zelle on invoices.
It's an easy no cost option for our B2B customers to pay.

Hi👋 while we offer connections for a few payment service providers, we don't have intentions of developing integrations with many ourselves.

There is an option through the use of a custom URL, which'd pull through relevant data for online payments through that service - you'll need to approach Zelle to see if this is something they can provide.

  7. You should be able to remove the scheduled CIS from the RTI submissions if the company isn't CIS registered it shows orange like you have missed this.

Hey Sammy, in the screenshot you've shared, the EPS for Month 1 is displayed as 'scheduled' because it has not been submitted to HMRC yet.

EPS are generated in Xero, but not submitted until after the 12th of the following tax month.

So in this case, the EPS for the periods in your screenshot will be submitted after the 12th May.

Once we've passed the date for submission, HMRC will accept the EPS and the status will change to 'Accepted'. This is unrelated to your CIS schedule,

This is in keeping with HMRC's advice for Employer Payment Summaries, and you read more about this here.

  8. The ability to have more than 1 accounts receivable and accounts payable account. This would provide a separate account for non-trade invoices and bills, also intercompany invoices and bills that are sent to another region or subsidiary for reimbursement. This would make tracking intercompany and eliminations cleaner and easier to track.

    Hey Paul,

    Thanks for sharing this one!

Having a quick read, I'd say this is one for our friends over on the API Feedback board.

That's the best place to share feedback and suggestions directly with our API team 😊

  10. I would like to know if the below three supplier enterprises in South Africa is supported to outomatic import the invoices into Xero. These are big enterprises with a lot of customers and transactions.

    Kaap Agri
    BKB
    OVK

    Automated integration will be great.
    Regards,

Xero has an open API which means anyone can develop an integration without providing us documentation or consulting Xero.

Because of this, we don't collect suggestions for new integrations here on Product Ideas. We'd encourage you to reach out to these organisations directly, to chat about developing a Xero integration.

  11. It would be really helpful to be able to assign an existing Contact to a new Client. For example we receive multiple projects from Architects or Builders with different Clients. Each time we add the contact into a new Client's project, we make a duplicate Contact entry. It would be great to have the ability to assign an existing Contact to a new Client, and merge the duplicate Contacts.

Thanks for engaging community, Marianne. While appreciative of your idea - feedback for WorkflowMax(WFM) product are best shared by raising a ticket while on WFM - See more info through their website.
This goes direct to WFM specialists who can feed this back to the right product teams for consideration. To keep feedback through the right channels I'll remove your idea here, but encourage you share through WFM Support. 🙏

  12. Webhooks are currently limited to contacts and invoices only - greatly limiting their use. Please expand out the available options for webhooks to include projects, quotes and purchase orders, etc.

  13. Please allow the function to split the linked accounts for GST Collected on Sales/Income and GST Paid on Purchases/Expenses. It's extremely frustrating to have them all lumped into the one account and makes year end reconciling much more time consuming and difficult. Needless to say, it makes it a lot harder to do year end adjustments correctly.

Hi Jodie, the single GST account in Xero is designed to calculate and create the org's Business Activity Statement based on the accounting method selected in the org's settings. I want to be open that we don't have plans to change this.

However, you could use custom tax rates to separate different rates within the GST account.

  14. ABN number needs to be included on this report as this is presently excluded
company name / address/ banking details / legal name etc are all included.
is it possible to include the ABN?

    Hey Kellie and Tracey :)

I've just confirmed for myself that this feature is already available in Xero.

When your contacts are exported, the ABN will appear in column AF 'TaxNumber' and the ACN will appear in column AL 'CompanyNumber'

If you're still having trouble with the export, I'd recommend reaching out to our support team for a chat!

  15. Cash summary report is OK but full cashflow forecasting and reporting (P&L plus Non Operating) is imperative for clients to forecast and track bank movement. This is available in MYOB Essentials (only thing it has over Xero really). Please please please

Hi everyone, returning to the idea here. We'd encourage exploring Short term cashflows and Business Snapshot with Xero Analytics. These tools can give you deeper insight into how your business is performing and upcoming payments.

If there's something within these tools that you feel could further enhance your experience and understanding please do raise as a new idea and we'll can consider this as we continue to develop.

  16. When payrun is done in Xero, the payroll payment file will be automatically sent to the bank (without authorisation). This could save the time of exporting payment files and import payment files to the bank.

Hi Sung Tak, appreciate you raising this with us however we want to be upfront that we don't have any plans around this. This process requires user input as a means of validation. If automated it could cause issues when making corrections to pay runs, or if a pay run was accidentally posted.

  17. All businesses have to file tax returns. Some prepare it themselves using other Xero product such as TaxCycle. To prepare tax returns it is important to start with CRA's GIFI values which maps the Chart of Accounts in Xero to the tax codes required by CRA.

Xero currently provides GIFI feature to partners but not business owners. This should be standard on all Xero files and not just partners. It should be a relatively quick fix to implement so that a business can decide on how its tax returns are prepared and when GIFI is added can prepare them more…

Hi Bill, and others interested - appreciate you raising the idea here. Though we understand some business owners may want to control this themselves to clarify the current process - Atm,  GIFI mapping is available for T2125 and T1776 forms that integrate with TaxCycle. With TaxCycle being a Partner specific product there are no plans to at this time to open this feature further.

Appreciate your idea, Peter. Right now, we’re currently building a greater consistency between Xero experiences. And one of the projects that supports this is the quote modernisation - Read our blog here for more information.

We understand that these changes might take a little time to get used to, and we don’t have plans to revert back to old quotes. But rest assured that we're committed to continuously upgrading our technology. So we’ll move the status of this idea as ‘not planned’.

Hi Nitin, is there a specific reason you'd rather pay on account than match with the invoices a payment relates?

Contact accounts are connected to the Accounts Receivable in Xero, and to ensure these balance the accounts receivable is only impacted when an invoice is created, payment applied or credit raised for a customer.

Being a fundamental way in how Xero is designed and works I want to be open that we don't have plans for changing this.

  20. As a small business it is hard when employees take time off when sick especially with 10 days now. We have an incentive in our contract to either roll these over or cash them up however this is not available through Xero.

Appreciate you sharing detail and why you'd like a cash up option with us here. Being open, as this is more specific to your business(not regulatory) we don't have plans for adding a cash up option within NZ Payroll.

However, there are currently two ways you could achieve this within Xero Payroll today

    1. Leave the Sick Leave maximum to accrue value as nil this will allow an indefinite roll over of sick leave
    2. If you're wanting to cash up then enter a sick leave request for a single day and enter the total value of a week to cash up with a description of cash up

We hope this can meet the needs you're after in recording cash up for sick leave. Thanks
