  1. The recent changes to the contacts screen have done nothing but hinder our business. You have removed the "Payments in past 12 months" which is something we rely on heavily when managing our clients. There is now no way to see all payments by a particular client where there are credit notes applied or they have paid by different means (sometimes by card, sometimes DD and sometimes bank transfer) as we would have to search each account separately and manually pull out the credit note balances. Very laborious and this is information we use daily in our credit control procedures.

  2. We have 1,782 “Archived Contacts” from mergers with other data following adoption of Xero Practice Management. The vast majority of these archived clients have the reference field completed with a 6 digit reference that we would like to re-use for the current clients.

    Unfortunately the reference field needs to be unique and so we cannot apply this reference to the current contact until it is changed or deleted in the archived client.

    Please can we have a bulk delete of the reference field for all 1782 archived clients (or add an extra digit if you cannot simply delete the reference…

It would be great to have the ability to copy a contact in order to create a new one We often have the same agent representing various clients, and creating a new contact for each one is cumbersome. The option to copy an existing contact (making changes to the name or account number but keeping the address, bank details etc) would be extremely useful.

  5. I am on a customer page and it shows that they currently owe for two open invoices. I would like to be able to click on the button Open Invoices and have the option to receive payment for those open invoices without having to leave the customer page. Currently I have to go to 1. Business 2. invoices 3. Awaiting Payment 4. Scroll through ALL open invoices (no filter even?), 5. Select the invoices I want to receive payment on 6. Select Deposit. Why not just go straight to the customer's open invoices and receive payment?

  6. Restrict the ability to create a new contact,
    or at least do a verification of a new contact by e.g. pop up window "are you sure you want to create a new contact?"

    And taking it one step further - running a validation check in the current contact list and make suggestions of other current contacts that is closely alligned.
    e.g. after entering " H and M stores" a pop up can ask, did you not mean "H&M Stores" that is currently a contact?

  7. Stop messing around with things that people haven't asked for and actually look at implementing things that have been asked for.
    The new look for customer and sales ledgers is awful. Why change it?
    When it comes to being easy to reconcile supplier ledgers Xero is already miles behind it's competitors but you've somehow managed to make it even worse!
    For example if there is an overpayment that you part allocate against a bill and then refresh the screen it shows that the bill is paid but the overpayment still shows that the full amount is to be used, it…

  8. We deal with different people in purchasing, accounting, owners, etc for each account. Contact records are being treated as Account records. This makes it very difficult to keep track of all people we need to do business with within an account.

  9. When in the contact section and viewing the activity tab, it would be useful to be able to view PDF invoice from that screen rather than click on an invoice and click the attachment tab (similar to the function in bills to pay).

I use the History/Notes section to keep track when I'm doing credit control- when I've chased the customer etc, and I now have to copy and paste the email I've sent to them-however, I will often need to send a long communication email which ends up being more than 2500 characters, which means I then have to copy and paste half the email and then the other half, so that they run together-it would be a lot easier if the notes section was able to take more than 2500 characters.

  11. Customer lifetime value report.

    I would like to see date fields that you complete when you onboard and archive a new customer. Then it would be easy to work out the average lifetime value of your customers (CLV) using the “income and expenses by contact” or other report.

    Not a capture all but maybe a step in the right direction for now that could help, Maureen - Smart Lists could help you get a view of the customers that you've not sold items to recently. 

    You could run a New Smart List to view Any customers who have Not Purchased Any items In the last year - Find out more on Smart lists here

  13. It would be really helpful when merging suppliers if there was an option to keep all contact and financial details with the updated contact. When an existing supplier joins Xero and starts sending Xero generated invoices that you can upload to Xero if the name is even slightly different it creates a new supplier. This could be as basic as Ltd vs Limited. When these contacts are merged all the existing information is deleted and needs to be re-entered. An option to keep all existing contact information would be great.

    Hi Sharon, recently we released a new feature in Contacts that will enable you to add a note for a contact that can be visible from a contacts record - Right hand panel meaning you could add any detail about contacts that you receive payment from at the time goods & services are supplied in this field. 

    Is this enough to solve your needs here? 🙂

  15. Changes to Xero that have not improved the program

    How do I upload files from Xero Files (documents scanned to Xero etc) to my client it no longer allows this - previously you could access either Xerol Files or your own files from your drive - am I missing something ? Also you can no longer just print invoices you have to download them _ why this is a total pain - the joy of Xero was always click and print or email ??? Please put it back many thanks Kate Milne long time user and Xero fan!!!!

  16. To be able to see a proper transaction report of either outstanding or all transactions from the contact screen. All it gives you at the moment is a list of invoices and notes etc with no structure. If you could get a transaction history from that screen and an aged breakdown it would be really helpful, which you could download, without coming out of there and having to go to reports. It's so frustrating.

  17. We use multiple Statement templates, each of them containing different stages of Credit Control progress. When sending these the Contact Notes are only updated with 'Statement', and not the Statement template name that would give historical context to a Contact on how we have progressed debt.
    Can you update the Notes to include the Statement Template name, and include an option to make further notes against that activity?

  18. Would it be possible to have the ability to search on a customers account for individual products that have been previously sold to them? We have customers that purchase various products from us and sometimes it will be months between each purchase. I have to open every invoice to see if the item is on there. Even if there was an update on the Products & Services page to list the products sold to each customer, I think it would help.

    Currently there are a couple of options for some here such as using Smart Lists to run a search to view all customers that have bought a certain item within a period.  

    Alternatively, you can run Inventory Item Details or Receivable Invoice Details reports could be useful where you can filter by a specific contact, item and/or description to understand what items and quantities of those items that have been bought by a contact with the in the timeframe of the report. 

    However if you'd like to see this option direct within the contact record, add your support to the idea here and we'll get a better sense of overall interest. 🙂

  20. When entering multiple contacts, it would be good to have the option to "save and create new contact" as well as the "Cancel" and "Save and Close" option after entering the information. Currently you have to press Save and Close, go back to Contacts, then select New Contact.
