  1. Currently when you export your Xero HQ client list it is limited to 1,000 rows. This makes the feature redundant for larger practices that have more than 1,000 clients. Please can this restriction be removed?

    Hey all, thanks for all your support on this idea. This is possible when finalising STP in Xero. 

    With the STP2 release, when you finalise STP, if you want to download your employee’s details you can generate an Employee year-to-date report, which you can export this report in PDF or CSV. 🙂

  3. Can you please amend the MANAGEMENT REPORT to have the ability to CHANGE DATES for an individual report in the Report Pack.
    Does it have to have the same date for every report page in the report pack? Almost every single month I need some accounts for the CURRENT MONTH, and others for the YEAR TO DATE, or for a DIFFERENT PERIOD, but every time i change ONE DATE, , EVERY SINGLE REPORT CHANGES. It';s just AWFUL.

    Thanks to everyone who shared their feedback on this idea, and took the time to connect with our design and product teams for interviews 😊

    Based on this feedback, we’ve rolled out a change to the Management Report pack. 

    By default, the dates for individual reports will still align with the date range of the pack. However, you can now click ‘Manage dates’ to set the dates for individual reports in the pack. 

    See the attached GIF for an example, or get started with the feature yourself, by following the steps in our Management Reports article.

  4. When an email is sent to Hubdoc with attachments, have email and pdf/csv document(s) together as one item, instead of the email going into Failed and the document going into processing. Often the email has information that is not included in the emailed attached document (pdf/csv/etc). The email goes to one tab, the document(s) go to another tab. It's almost impossible to match them back up without going back to the original email to figure out what goes where.

    Purpose: To consolidate emails with invoices/bills/etc which often have extra information that is needed to pay the bill.

    Hi community, returning to the idea we wanted to confirm. When using Cash Coding to reconcile, you can enter the customer/supplier name into the Payee column, and this will create a Receive/Spend Money transaction for that contact.

    However, if the payment relates to an invoice or bill, please use Find & Match to reconcile it, not Cash Coding, as this would create a duplicate account transaction.

  6. Profit and loss account items should be mapped in a way that be represenative of a traditional profit and loss rather than alphabetical order

    Hi Simon, Amanda, and Craig! Thanks for your input here. You can change the order of the Profit and Loss report order by clicking “More”, then tick the Account Codes checkbox. From there, you’ll see the order of the report will be based on the account code number.

    I’ve also attached a screenshot here, for your reference too :)

  8. Xero HQ Filleted Accounts without Dividend Note

    There should be a facility whereby the notes to the full accounts can be edited for the filleted accounts so that not all are disclosed at Companies House, such as, & very importantly the 'Dividend' note

    Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on this idea. As part of our recent improvements to the notes & disclosures for FRS 1021a accounts, the dividends note is now included within the Directors report which isn't submitted to Companies House. We appreciate there is further work to do to maximise the flexibility here and always appreciate your feedback so please continue to add new ideas.

  9. You have a contact transaction summary report which is very confusing showing the allocation of overpayments or credit notes. Just need a report to show the actual transactions that you can then drill down on so that you can see where they have been allocated. Also needs a running total. Would be useful to show just outstanding items or to be able to show all items from a particular date.

    Hi team, it's possible to get a view of what you're asking here with the Account Transactions report today. 


    You can customise the Account Transactions report to add both contact and related account. You can also filter by these fields. 

    There is also an option to show a running balance. 


    Alternatively you could look into the Receivable Invoice Details report and filter this for a single contact, and choose which 'source's you'd like to include when running the report. 


    I guess what would help in passing your feedback to the team here is understanding more detail of what you'll use this specific report for? What is it you're trying to use this for?

    Hey community, just popping in to deliver this idea 🎉 

    Thanks to everyone that shared their feedback and suggestions in the comments. You’ll now have the option to 'hide' a note to financial statements, instead of removing it. 

    This means that rather than deleting notes that aren’t applicable, you can instead retain them for future years where they might be more relevant 📝 

    I’ve attached a screenshot to show this in action, and you can jump in to your Financial Statements from today to try it out!

  12. Tax Payments – It would be good if we could have a BULK unapproved feature in all tabs, i.e. approved, sent, ignore.

    At the moment we have to click on each client and unapproved which is very time consuming.

    Hey community, thanks for sharing this idea - it’s now live in NZ Xero Tax 🎉

    You can now unapprove multiple payment reminders at once. To do this:

    1. Go to Tax > Payments
    2. Click on either the Approved, Changed or Sent tab
    3. Select the reminders to be unapproved
    4. Click the Unapprove button
    5. Click Yes to confirm

  14. I was told on a recent Xero training course that I could use "Ask" to send queries to clients - even those not on Xero. However, having just spent a considerable amount of time setting up a lot of new templates for requesting self assessment evidence from clients I have now found out that you can't use it for individuals who are not on Xero. Perhaps this could be something which could be looked at in the future? I have a number of individual clients who need self assessments but don't require Xero and it would certainly be a bonus…

    Hi Leah 👋 great to hear you've been through some of the training!

    You can send Xero HQ Ask queries to non-Xero clients, however you'll just need to add them as a client in Xero HQ so they can receive the notification.


    On your clients end, they can create a Xero login to access and respond to your queries through Ask, without needing to add an organisation.

  15. Document packs are currently sorted in order of sent. This can make it hard to track ones that are newly completed (for filing purposes). This is because a newly completed pack could be anywhere in the list. Being able to sort in order of completed would help.

    Hi Andy👋, happy to share that the team have just released another improvement to the sort for Document Packs and you'll find from today you can now sort by Date Completed!

    Jump on in for a try - this should help you stay on top of those packs most recently completed 😊

  16. Current Hubdoc behaviour is that the user must choose a single default document type per vendor and all documents for that vendor are treated the same. So if a credit note is uploaded for a vendor that usually sends bills, then that credit note is loaded to Xero as a bill.
    It would be good if Hubdoc could differentiate between different document types for the same vendor.

    We've reached a milestone! - Hubdoc credit note detection is now available to all Hubdoc users globally who are connected to Xero or QBO!

    As mentioned previously, when detected Hubdoc will flag the document for your review, from which you can Publish as a credit note.

    In order to file a self assessment tax return for self employment income on a cash basis this needs to be selected from within the self-employment schedule.


    Below the accounting period start & end dates there is a Yes/No toggle to switch over to 'Yes' if cash basis is being used in the accounting period 🙂

  18. The queries in workpapers are currently organised into query headings covering a number of areas. But there are some queries that don't fit into any of those sections neatly and can confuse clients when sent over.

    It would be great if we could create our own headings for the Queries or if Xero could include a 'General' or 'Non-Categorised' section which these less specific queries can be grouped

    Hey community - this is now delivered 🎉

    Last week our NZ Tax team rolled out an update to fulfil this request. 

    When a new IR6B Beneficiary schedule is created, and a relationship exists, Xero will now populate the date of birth and address from the client record.

    Hotlinks in workpapers will now connect to the new reports in Xero. If a workpaper links to the Account Transactions, Bank Reconciliation, Aged Receivable Detail, Aged Payable Detail or Fixed Assets Reconciliation report, you'll be able to use exciting features that will help you get quick access to answers and streamline your financial analysis.
