Workpapers | Transactions - Column for mileage
Allow a Column on your main page of transactions for mileage so you can add the mileage to the column for sales to be calculated
I am a private hire driver and this I believe will benefit taxis and private hire drivers or people who do a lot of driving as a business.
Can they not add another column on this page that we can add the mileage for each job that can then be calculated at the end of year as you do with what fairs come in or sales coming.
Again, this would benefit greatly for small businesses…

This isn't something that we have plans for right now, but we'll track the interest and share if there are any changes to update you on.

XPM (New Experience) - Show number of notes from client view
From the initial client view, there should be a number next to the Notes section, to show that there are notes to look at (as there are for invoices, jobs etc)

Implement Accounting Periods
Implement accounting periods rather than running from transaction dates. We have to close the period for management accounts by day 7 but there will be supplier invoices or expenses appearing after that date. Currently we have to manually amend the date on posting to be the first date of the open period. If accounting periods were implemented, we would be able to allow a late transaction through in the current open period rather than amending the transaction date.

Xero Tax - set default print settings for your practice
It would be great to be able to set default print settings for the practice, especially by tax return type. Recently Xero changed the default and now I have an extra box to untick each time. Pain in the backside. Thanks

Xero Tax (AU) - Warning to complete 13U tax losses and losses schedule
It would be beneficial for a warning to show to complete label 13U tax losses to be carried forward and/or when a losses schedule is required in a Trust or Company tax return when there has been a tax loss for the current year. This would reduce the risk that this label is inadvertently omitted.

SB Pool Detail Report - Ability to move & delete columns
Currently the SB Pool Detail report contains a large number of columns and the report appears cramped and difficult to read due to the smaller font size.
It would be helpful to have the ability to change the column order and remove excess or un-needed columns, as is possible for the other tax and accounting depreciation schedules.

Xero Tax - Track time spent on a return
Can you automatically keep the start and end times when working on a tax return per user.
1 voteAppreciate you raising this idea about tracking time on returns within Xero Tax, Neil. It’s something that can make a difference for teams trying to manage capacity or reflect on the actual effort behind each return.
This idea is now sitting in the gaining support stage, which means it’s open for others in the community to engage with. As more votes and comments come through, it helps the product team see where this functionality might be most impactful and what specific outcomes users are looking for.
If there’s a particular reporting format, integration, or manual workaround you’re currently using to track this, sharing that in the comments could be really helpful. It adds valuable context and helps show how this could tie into existing practice workflows.

Milage claims - GST on business kilometres
The ATO allows businesses to claim the GST on cents per kilometre based on the business Kilometres travelled. The Milage claim in Xero currently does not have any tax category which means milage claims aren't showing on the GST reports and have to manually added to the BAS otherwise businesses are missing out on GST if not added manually.
For example, If staff travel 100kms for business, then the claim should reflect the following
100 kms x rate of 88cents (FY2026) totalling to $88. the $88 is inclusive of GST of $8.1 voteHi Camilla👋, we understand the importance of being able to track and claim GST on business mileage and appreciate you letting us know this functionality isn't available within Xero. We know that not having this feature causes extra work to manually calculate the GST on mileage claims. While we don't have this feature at the moment, we’d like to acknowledge the workarounds of manually calculating the GST component of the mileage claim and entering this as a separate line item when processing the expense claim. We understand this isn't ideal and adds extra work, but it may help for now. We're still actively monitoring this idea to see how much support it gets from our customers 👀. Xero Tax UK - Delete or archive draft Partnership returns
Delete or archive draft Partnership returns in Xero Tax UK - if a draft is created in error it just stays on the dashboard, eventually showing as overdue and clogging up the dashboard's useful information. If full deletion is not an option, for audit purposes, then I'd like to at least be able to archive it and remove it from my dashboard view.

Hubdoc - Set date to current century
Stop dating in 1900s.
Today I typed in the date 5/3/25. Click on the little calendar that appears, the month says March 25. Click on 5 March 25.Hubdoc interprets this as the year 1925.
I dont think there are many people entering receipts from 100 years ago.
Please remove those last century calendars from Hubdoc.While you fix that, since the Hubdoc file is linked to a Xero file can you also stop hubdoc processing into a closed year. It warns you AFTER it's been sent to Xero, then doesn't let you correct it because of the status -…

Contacts - Edit payment options for a specific contact
It would be important to be able to edit the payment option available for a specific contact. Example: I have an international client that I would prefer if they did not get the option to pay their invoices with credit card. That would be useful to edit this within their contact settings so I don't have to manually change each of their invoices.

We've reviewed your suggestion to be able to set specific payment options within a contact's settings, and it's now open to gain support from other community members. We can definitely see how this would save time by removing the need to manually edit each invoice for certain clients, like your international customer example.

NZ tax- Create tax returns for a future period
NZ Tax - Can we get the ability to create a future period tax return using the current years format. We would still need to submit the return manually through the IRD. It would be much simpler to create a draft in Xero instead of using the PDF versions from the IRD.

Reports - Aged Receivables - Filter by Account Code
To add to Receivable to search by account code so to know which clients have not paid e g membership invoices only

While there isn't a direct filter for account codes in Xero right now, you could potentially explore the option to use Contact groups or tracking categories to help sort clients in this report.

NZ Tax - Submit a Tax Return Amendment
Similarly to iFirm, would be great to be able to make amendments to the return in Xero, mark it as an amendment, and then file from Xero rather than having to make the amendment in MyIR, then make the same amendment to the already filed tax return in Xero. Makes it harder to keep track of what has been done.

NZ Tax - IR7 ability to have a group schedule for allocating income and tax credits to partners
Make a schedule for allocating partner income and tax credits allocations with a total giving the ability to allocate income on the one page. Currently you have to go into each partner schedule. There is not always an even split of income and with many partner entities it is very time consuming.

Reports - Add quantity column to reports
It isn't possible to add a quantity column to a report, nor is it possible to pull through Qty data entered in Xero or create a cell the Qty can be manually typed into.
You can add a note column but this would be to link to a section of the report pack, not a quantity loaded into Xero or a box we could manually type the quantity into. Further the notes section functionality is unable to be renamed and can only be linked to other reports in the report pack. It does not work to bring through Qty data.

Xero Tax - Allow manual allocation of R&D expenditure for long accounting periods
When inputting R&D figures for a period of account longer than 12 months (i.e. where 2x corporation tax returns are needed), we are unable to put specific R&D expenditures in a specific corporation tax periods. This is an issue with overseas workers where the periods are pre and post 1 April 2024, and where expenditure is only eligible in one of the periods. As currently, the expenditure is pro-rated, this means that non-qualifying expenditure is being brought into one of the periods.

Companies House sync - Client Onboarding
Would like to see a Companies House sync for this. Our current PM system has this facility and it saves so much time (and is accurate). Also used as a check when submitting annual CS01 forms. We are considering moving to XPM and this would seal the deal
