Xero Tax (AU) | Tax Estimate - Deceased Estate
Xero gave us a tax estimate for deceased estates (but only within the first three years...), and on my very first trial of this new feature ran into a roadblock - I cannot find anywhere to input the PAYG Instalments paid by the deceased estate, therefore the estimate is inaccurate.

It is disappointing that the deceased estate tax calculation issue remains unresolved in Xero Tax.
We are currently preparing a 2026 deceased estate trust return using assessment code 16 (deceased passed away more than three years ago), and Xero is not calculating the tax payable, despite the return validating without errors. This is a significant limitation, as the correct tax calculation should be determined by the assessment code selected, rather than being supported only for code 15 which provides an incorrect tax estimate if a deceased passed away more than 3 years ago.
Could Xero please prioritise fixing this issue and ensure that tax calculations work correctly for all applicable deceased estate assessment codes? This is essential functionality for tax practitioners, not an optional feature. In the meantime, could Xero Support please provide a practical workaround that would allow us to manually enter or override the tax payable, generate an accurate income tax summary, and finalise and lodge the return?
We would also appreciate confirmation of whether a permanent fix is planned and, if so, the expected timeframe for implementation.

Its a shame that the issue with the Deceased Estate Tax Estimate hasn't fully been resolved. The function of the assessment code 16 is still wrong therefore we cannot finalize or lodge a return.

Providing an estimate is fundamental.
What is the point providing an estimate when it is inaccurate? Xero is only using trust marginal rates. A deceased estate that receives a superannuation lump sum death benefit with a taxed element should only be taxed at 15%. Xero's suggestion to me was to use a PDF editor to correct the estimate. Not good enough! -
