Thanks for feeding back on how we can further improve the new Workpapers solution for you here.
This isn't something we have plans around atm, but are paying close attention to all ideas coming in about this feature.
If there are any plans made to enable editing of uploaded documents we will update you here.

If you add the document as a URL (if saved in OneDrive / SharePoint, you will be able to edit it and have it update in the workpaper.
