Repeating invoice - Placeholders for the reference field
Instead of the currently available [Week] option in the repeating invoice reference field, which only shows the week number of the year, for example '34', instead allow the option for custom text that includes the date. For example to enable the customer to understand that the invoice being sent is for work that was undertaken during week ending 18/08/2024, which you want to display as WE20240818, you could allow something like this in the reference field: 'WE[yyyymmdd]'. This mitigates the issue of customers having to work out the date that e.g. week '34' applies to when reconciling invoices in Xero which is when you can only see the invoice number & the reference
Hi team, thanks for your feedback in Xero Product Ideas. While we don't have immediate plans for this we are keeping a watchful eye on the interest here.
Make sure to share the idea with your colleagues that'd like to see this to so they can support and we can get a wider understanding of the overall interest.

For reoccurring invoices, have a placeholder in the reference field that increases by one every month. Jan - 1234 Feb - 1235 and so on.
This would save me hours. All my invoices are reoccurring and my customers want a reference that reflects a new workorder number every month that increase by one.
