  1. Recently found out that draft invoices are assigned a number once created, even if they are eventually not approved and deleted.
    For accounting reasons in Spain, the numbering on all invoices presented has to be consecutive and the fact that draft invoices are assigned a number from the same sequence causes a problem. So basically if a draft invoice ends up being deleted, then when presenting the invoice list to the tax authorities, there is a number missing, which could cause a problem.
    My suggestion would be that the sequence number is not assigned until the invoice has been approved…

  2. Whenever I enter an invoice for a new customer, which is quite often, it always annoys me that the 'Add new contact' pop-up doesn't have postcode search in it.

    So I end up adding a contact and their email, saving then going into contacts in a new tab to complete their address from their postcode.

    Just add lookup to the contact details in add quote/invoice/etc wherever there is a postcode field.

  3. We have 2 Shopify stores, one for our wholesale customers and one for consumers, however, unfortunately, we cannot connect both to Xero, which is extremely annoying and causes a lot of work for us behind the scenes. Connecting both will mean a more streamlined experience and make our Xero world much easier.

  4. I've noticed that Xero is retiring classic invoicing, and that the Xero to Xero link option is not available in New Invoicing. Xero to Xero is an important feature for many of our clients especially in groups where there is intra-group invoicing with many items on an invoice this saves a lot of time! Please add Xero to Xero to new invoicing. I also want to ask if Xero to Xero can please automatically attach the pdf version of the invoice to the bill created in the opposite entity as this does not happen automatically.

    Hi Michael, we have an idea for Xero to Xero in new invoicing and want to be open that this isn't something we'll be building into new invoicing however there is still a way to use this feature. You can have a read of my full post on the idea.

    In relation to your second idea around auto attaching the PDF of an invoice when it's created as a bill in the recipients organisation. I'll slightly amend your idea for this here and we can get a sense of the appetite for this.

  5. The new invoicing doesn`t transfer the "Reference" field information to the email area and I have to retype this every time. The previous version just transferred it all. Now this means more work, having to input the reference three times in the process
    Also there is no confirmation anywhere that the files I attach are being sent. If you PREVIEW it does not show the files anywhere ?

The new invoicing page design has created a bloated feature-packed version of invoicing that, whilst great for companies who regularly email or print invoices for posting, is an absolute pain in the proverbial to navigate for companies such as ours who only create invoices for accounting purposes, and never send them out.

    For background context, we are a small family-owned investment property company who create invoices in Xero corresponding to rental income statements we receive from letting agencies.   7. An option to see how many 'days' due in preview section for the new version of invoicing

    Could we have an option in xero please to select 'due 30 days' from when we approve/send an invoice ?
    In the classic invoicing when you preview it (before approving and sending it) it would always say how many 'days' it is due as well as the 'due date' this helps as we expect payment within 30 days of the customer receiving the invoice not 30 days from the invoice date.

  8. The new invoicing alerts you to a credit on a customer's account if you APPROVE an invoice but if you APPROVE AND ADD ANOTHER invoice it simply moves right on and does not mention the credit. Please could the apply credit option be available regardless of the way you finalise your invoice.

  9. In invoice reminders you do not have the option to add the original invoice as a PDF. My customers accounting teams do NOT follow links in emails (against security policy), but can read an attachment (as long as it is PDF). I would like this added as an option on invoice reminders.

  10. OLD vs NEW XERO INVOICING

    Customer Name search - this is when adding customer name on customer/contact field when creating a new invoice

    In the old version, the dropdown displays the full hospital name along with the contact email address. However, the new version only shows a truncated name (around 26-30 characters) without the email address. It would be better to retain the old version feature for this especially when there are multiple contacts but different departments, as it was easier to find out whether correct department was chosen and not to make additional right click just to be sure…

  11. In the classic invoicing, when I am approving my invoices draft then I click "Approve and view next", it goes in the next invoice subsequent number.

    In the new invoicing version, when I click on "Approve and view next", it goes directly to the last invoice number instead of the next one. I have a lot of drafts to approve and it has to be in the right order.

    For this reason, I stay with the classing invoicing. I might consider switching back to new invoicing if this issue can be resolve in the future.

  12. New Invoicing - Description Box Defined

    It would be great if the new invoice description field had a defined box around it like the rest of the row does. The old invoice does and it looks cleaner. I find myself second guessing if those descriptions are in the correct place because it looks like they all run together.

    Thanks for confirming, Nicki. I can confirm I've shared this back with the team. We are looking at further improvements to the invoicing grid, so I'll let you know here if  there's any news for this.

  13. On the contact activity it tells you when an invoice reminder was sent but what would be really useful from a contact relations POV would be to be able to click that interaction and view the email so that you could screenshot/resend it to a client who says they didn't receive it. For example I have one saying at the moment they never received the reminder but did the one after and the one before? Odd? Proving the amount, email it went to etc would be a useful "told you so" if you know what I mean.

  15. The ability to mark any/all invoices as sent - even if using the copy/share function to send invoices to clients.

    Not all invoices are sent via email. A tick/flick box to mark off any invoices that have actually been sent via the copy/share function would be handy. There could also be another box that would act as a reminder to follow up after 'X' amount of days if the invoice remained outstanding, in the same sort of format that follow-up emails are automatically sent for payment reminder.

  16. I often copy from a Purchase order to an Invoice, with the new Invoicing set up, it automatically populates the customer field with the Supplier name, can this PLEASE be changed to same as classic with a blank field so we can enter the custmer details in ourselves, it is most annoying and has often caught our office out sending invoices to suppliers.

    Hi Yumei, a few different bulk requests in the one here. 

    In terms of branding themes when you say you'd want to bulk update branding would this be detail within your branding themes, or the branding applied to invoices in Xero? If the latter, perhaps you'd find setting a default from your Contacts record a useful way to edit this? 

    We try to keep individual ideas separate so our product teams can get a good understanding of exactly is being asked, and others in community know what they're voting for.

  18. Batch print packing slip

    We are able to batch print invoices through the awaiting payment page, but having the ability to batch print packing slips would be great. Having to click in and out of invoices to print the packing slip for multiple entries daily takes quite a bit of time. Can this feature be added?

  19. It would be incredibly helpful to be able to update multiple notes at once. For example, if I have a list of 300 invoices and a statement has been sent, I want to see that note on each invoice, so that anyone going into that account can see the last action. So for example, I want to add the note 'Statement sent today requesting payment by 19th April' to all 300 invoices, but I want to be able to select them all and add that note once, not 300 separate times.

  20. How many times have we received a payment from a customer and not known which invoices they have paid? Or followed up an outstanding invoice that they have listed as paid in their system?

    It would be great to have a button to request remittance advice from a customer for a particular deposit. We have a list of customers for many of our clients where we manually send these requests via email. It is time-consuming and inefficient, though it would be great to have the automation of sending the request straight out of Xero from the Bank Rec screen!

    Appreciate no direct feature for this at present, Grace and we'll begin to get a sense of the interest in this here. In the meantime, perhaps including the request in the invoice Terms and Conditions could be a good indicator that this is something you request of your customers when sending the invoice or reminders?
