  1. In the new invoicing it is possible to add a customers credit onto their invoice from the bottom of the screen however the old version would have a pop up asking if you would like to apply the credit.

    Can we change new invoicing so that it pops up asking for confirmation as this is easily missed.

    Hi everyone, as shared a little earlier here when you start entering an invoice for a customer that has credit you'll receive a notification in the bottom right. 

    Once you approve the invoice you'll receive a prompt to let you know that you have credit for the contact and would you like to apply it. 

    If you're not receiving this prompt this would be unexpected behaviour. We'd still like to help you with this, but it's best for our specialists at Xero Support to get more information 1-on-1 and investigate this with you. You can reach out to them through the Contact Xero Support option throughout Xero Central (bottom of the page). 

  2. Update new Invoicing to allow sending invoices to contact groups as you can in the classic invoicing. It's ridiculous that something so useful has been left behind in the switch to the new style. I need to be able to amend the invoices I send out based on the individual needs of the group. It saves so much time to be able to create a default set of drafts that I can amend rather than having to go to each individual and create an individual invoice within that group. Please guys, piull this across!

    Thanks for getting involved and sharing your interest for contact group invoicing, everyone. Our latest updated for new invoicing means you can now create a new invoice for a contact group! 😊

    If you've still be using classic invoicing, switch to the new version first through the banner at the top, or link at the bottom of any invoice.

    Next time, you create an invoice for a Contact group you'll be taken to enter the details for your group invoice, in new invoicing. We appreciate all your input and feedback through the idea here.

  3. Not all businesses want to set up credit card payments. We actually use another system to generate our invoices as they are complex. I have been repeatedly asked to set up stripe and an authenticator with every step when keying in new invoices - I do not want to do this. I started to investigate and have now been charged $59.99 for an authenticator I do not need. I am incredibly frustrated and want my money back. I have contact the app company however it was xero's repeated badgering that caused the error. please remove the call to action

    Thanks for the screenshot, Nicole. Appreciate if you're not intending to set up credit card payments that this continuous pop up would be frustrating. This indicates that the Stripe payment service setup was entered into at some point but hasn't been completed. You should be able to stop this from appearing by removing Stripe as a payment service from your organisation. We have some help on doing this, here.

  4. When sending an invoice to a new customer using the new invoicing you can only add one address line before the Town/City field. With the old invoicing you could add multiple address lines before the Town/City field (as you can also do with their Contact page and clicking edit).
    With new invoicing this is difficult. Every time you need to add an address to a new invoice going to a new contact within the invoice screen then you only have one address line above the town/city field.

    Hi team, we’ve made and released some recent enhancements to the ‘Contact’ field and contact card within new invoicing.

    Hearing your feedback here, we added more address lines to the contact card within new invoicing so you can add your full customer’s delivery or billing address on the fly. You’ll also see you can quickly look up and select addresses for your contact, as well as edit or add the Attention to without needing to go to the contact record.   5. New Invoicing - Add last items

    The new invoicing interface currently being rolled out does not include this feature. This feature is fundamental to my use of Xero for invoicing.

  6. I want to hide the VAT line from below the subtotal on the 'Invoice email' template. I can hide it on the 'Invoice PDF' but not on the 'Invoice Email'. I'm not VAT registered so it currently says VAT 0%. But thus may look confusing to my customers. I would rather it was either hidden or removed.

    Hi Sam, sorry we've not updated you here sooner. This is possible through your email settings. If you open the Email template that you apply to invoices you'll find a check box for 'Include action to online invoice and detail summary'. You'll want to deselect this option to remove that detail from showing in your invoice emails. Just a note it does strip back a bit of the formatting of the email but will help you achieve what you're after here.

  7. It would be fantastic to have the ability to add a web link or QR code to a Googe review page or other external link (website, facebook etc).
    When an invoice or receipt of payment is sent it would be great to follow this up asking for client to give feedback on service provided or to have them follow along on social media etc.

  8. Accountants need to to be able to amend the account to which an invoice or one of the lines on it is allocated, as we can with the edit function in Classic Invoicing. We also need to be able to edit the Tracking Category of an invoice or line on the invoice. This is vital for our organisation and likely to be so for others businesses where invoices and bills are booked by financial staff and checked by Accountants. The ability to copy a previous invoice is also used all the time and saves a huge amount of time. Also…

    Appreciate your idea here, Michael. While it won't be possible to retain Classic invoicing, it is possible to Edit, Copy and Void in New Invoicing.

    That said, a couple of the Copy to options (to a purchase order or bill) are planned for new invoicing but aren't there quite yet. You can stay updated on these through the ideas I've linked.

  9. The old version we used to be able to hit the Enter button whilst we are keying in the number keys to the right of our keyboard. In the new version we have come to realise that the Enter Button makes the decimal points pop up... instead of just being able to put in 50 for fifty dollars. I have been using the Enter key over near those numbers on the right since xero began and I am really hoping this is fixed ASAP if that is ok please

    Thanks for raising this with us in product ideas, Leanne. Appreciate it's been a few months since you first started this, however just coming back across and testing with the current experience it appears this is now working as you'd like to see here - When entering data in fields of a row in the invoice, if you press enter you'll move across to the next field. Also within an amount field like Qty or Price when you type in a figure and press enter this will move fields and round the amount to the nearest whole number, unless you have inserted a decimal point.

  10. When an invoice is approved it must stay in the shape of an original table where the ledger account column and the tracking category columns are present, (presenting this information in a line with a small font is ridiculous).

    Hi Melissa, coming across your idea here you may have already noticed that a couple of weeks ago we released an update to the view of an invoice so all details are now shown in separate columns (similar to classic). 😊

  11. On the invoice template there is a lot of 'white space', particularly to the right of the Product Description, which frequently wraps to a second line. The Product Item code also wraps to a second line on occasions. The Quantity, Unit Price, Discount and VAT columns could be reduced in width to allow for the increase in Item and Description fields.

    Hi community, thanks for your feedback here. While we won't be providing the ability to manually adjust column widths our product team recently released a new line item grid that with other improvements, optimises the padding, text size and column width so it is more compact and you can see more detail without the need to scroll. 

    All fields will also now wrap, so you'll be able to see all information of your account, tax rate and tracking without having to click into the field.

  12. We use many xero accounts, and for two of them, when accessing the invoice link, the invoice appears first, followed by a "PayNow" card payment option in the top left corner. However, for the other two accounts, the card payment window appears first without the invoice, which causes inconvenience to customers. (Of course, there is a download option at the bottom right.) Please change the settings to make the invoice appear first.The specialist can't fix this, and the different output seems to be a xero system issue. Please fix it soon.

    Hi everyone, within Email Settings you can edit the email template and deselect 'Include action to online invoice and detail summary'. This will strip back the look of the email a bit but this means the pay now, or Review and pay link will stop showing and instead you can just include the link to view the online invoice for your customers.

    If you'd like to have a look at how this appears before implementing in your org, try sending yourself an invoice from the demo company.

    If this is the common selection for due date you can set this up as a Default in your Invoice Settings, Denise. It's also possible to set this up as a default for individual contacts if you'd prefer too. 🙂

    Alternatively, you might find it handy to use the shortcut when entering your invoices. You can simply type +10 in the due date field and it will set the date to 10 days after the Invoice Issue date.

  14. Feedback on the Updated Email Invoice Template: Prioritising Client Experience Over Financial Details

    As a business owner wholly committed to providing exceptional customer service, I've encountered significant issues with the new email invoice template that I believe warrant urgent attention from the Product Team.

    1. Focus on Experience, Not Payments: Our aim is to immerse our clients in a seamless service experience. By prominently featuring payment details in the email, it inadvertently shifts the client's focus from the quality of service to financial transactions. Clients should have the option to review detailed financials at their discretion by accessing the invoice themselves.

  15. When typing a quote, available stock used to show (when you typed a figure in the "quantity" field (if available stock was less than required the open window would turn red) but it doesn't now. It would be great if this feature were also added to invoices (and quotations as before) so that one didn't need to check stock on a different page for each item being invoiced. I note that it shows when typing a credit note, so it must be possible!

  16. New Invoicing: In the classic invoicing, I can click in the discount area and the discount set in a customer's profile is automatically entered. I don't want to have to go in and look up each customer's discount every time I create an invoice. In the new invoicing, when I click in there it just waits for me to type something in.

    Hi team, from new invoicing once you add a contact any sales defaults you have saved will be applied. Simply enter a Qty or Price and the discount saved for that contact will be applied.

    If you're not seeing the discount column on your invoice, click the show/hide fields on the left above the invoice body and make sure this has been selected.

  17. I would like to request the Xero add the feature to be able to approve and send customer invoices even when they have reached there credit limit in the new invoicing. Currently this feature is available in the classic invoicing of Xero. Xero are forcing everyone to move to the new invoicing from September 2024.
    We use an external software for our customer invoicing and then import these into xero the following day after the sale has occurred and email the invoices to the customer. Moving to new invoicing currently means that for any customer that is over the credit…

  18. Ability to have the tax amount show on each line item and not just in the total below or even better so that sales tax automatically shows within the line item amount as per on screen, but when Printed to PDF it shows no Tax amounts per line.

    Hi team, returning to the idea. To confirm, with standard branding you can simply choose whether the amounts shown on your invoices to customers are tax inclusive or tax exclusive.

    In terms of default tax the Tax Amount column that can be shown on the invoice within Xero - it's possible to use an advanced branding theme and customise the DocX template to add the TaxOnLineAmount merge field to make this visible to your customer. If you'd prefer to not show Tax Rate or Tax name you can also use the advanced branding template to customise and remove these fields.

  19. In Classic Invoicing, you could copy an invoice to all sorts of things: Invoice, Quote, Purchase Order, Bill. See first screenshot.
    In New Invoicing, you can only copy an invoice to another draft invoice. See second screenshot.
    Please can you replicate the 'Copy invoice to a quote' functionality in New Invoicing?

  20. Please include the functionality of classic invoicing which allows Xero to suggest email addresses based on your previous contacts used. This is a key time saving feature in our workflow and one of only a few reasons we cannot transition over.     Hi team, sorry we didn't return to update you on the deliver of being able to keep the contact when copying an invoice with new invoicing.

    This was released a couple of weeks ago. Now when you copy an invoice to a new draft invoice you'll get the option to keep the same contact.

    It;s worth noting that while the contacts details will follow through to the new invoice for sending purposes. Defaults are not automatically applied - So, if you'd like contact defaults to be applied to the new invoice you'll need to remove the contact and then re-add in the new draft invoice.
