Shopify Integration - Automatic Credit Notes for Refunds
Description / Pain Points:
Refunds: Manual credit notes are required for Shopify order refunds, which is time-consuming and error-prone for high-volume merchants.
Taxes: Xero only supports reporting for one region. Duties and taxes from other regions must be tracked manually, causing discrepancies and extra work.
Suggested Improvement:
- Auto-generate credit notes for refunds.

We've found one similar to the Multi-region tax here, so we've added your vote to it. As support shared, Xero won't automatically create credit notes for refund via the Shopify integration, so we'll keep an eye on the support your idea gets here.

Invoicing - Ability to download a paid VAT invoice as unpaid and noted as a copy
Customers often ask for a copy of an older invoice that's been paid. When either resending or downloading it, Xero creates a new PDF that shows the invoice as paid with a 0.00 balance.
I should be able to send an exact copy of the original that clearly states it is a copy. In fact, HMRC states that a request for another copy of a VAT invoice SHOULD be as per the original and state that it's a duplicate.

Xero Subscription invoices - Remove $0 balance amount
Why are the subscription invoices we receive from Xero now being issued with a $0 balance? We are having to manually edit or delete the pre‑populated payment line in order to reconcile the actual payment against the invoice. The pre‑paid negative line is unnecessary and creates avoidable double handling.
The same issue is occurring with client invoices where credits or overpayments exist. Xero has started adding a pre‑paid negative line to these invoices when they are sent. This process is impractical and will create further problems, as clients will not apply overpayments themselves. Invoices - Add payments from the invoice overview
If we could have a receipting screen where we don't have to go into every invoice to receive money would be great.It would save us valuable time

Invoices - Retain and save the selected Account Code on line items with a $0.00 amount or 100% discount
We send out promotional items and invoice these with a 100% discount. When saving the invoice, Xero is not saving the account code that I applied. I've read this is an accounting simplification. We need to see these invoices - is there a workaround?
1 voteHi Vanisha, thanks for sharing this suggestion. Retaining the selected account code on zero-value or fully discounted line items could be useful for reporting and analysis, particularly for tracking promotional or non-charged allocations.
Keeping this mapping in place would help preserve useful context in reporting, even when the line has no financial impact on the ledger.

Invoices - Keep cursor focus where the user clicks during page load
When opening an invoice the cursor reverts to the Contacts field after a few seconds (after fully loading, presumably) so when I've clicked in a different field, by the time the Invoice is ready to accept changes, the cursor has flicked back to Contacts. It's such a time waster - either waiting on the invoice to load or re-typing everything again in the correct field. It doesn't happen in Quotes so can it not happen in Invoices?

Keeping the active field selected where the user clicks, rather than defaulting back to the Contact field, would help maintain a more consistent entry experience.

Backdated payment warning - Ability to turn warning on or off
Ability to turn off / toggle the warning for
"The invoice was raised after the payment you are reconciling to"
Alot of my invoices are dated after the payment date for whatever reason. It would be create to have a choice whether to receive this warning or not.

Increase Storage Capacity to upload files to transactions
Increase upload file storage capacity to attach PDF and Excel Spreadsheet together with the invoice.
1 voteThanks for sharing this idea. 🌟 At the moment, Xero does support attaching multiple files, but each individual file needs to be under 25MB.
So this limit applies per file, rather than as one total cap across all files uploaded through the common file uploader.
We understand why larger file support would be helpful, and we’ll leave this idea here so the team can continue to gauge interest and demand for changes in this area.

Invoicing - Send multiple invoices to a custom email address
Currently, in order to send multiple invoices at once, each invoice has it's own email address box to enter the recipient's email, there is no selection available to send multiple invoices to a custom email address in one click.
This would be most helpful, especially when multiple invoices are required to go to a different email address (from the default contact email). At the moment this means entering a different email into each individual address box, even if this means entering the same email up to 50 times for each invoice selected.

Sales Overview- allow sorting (draft) invoices by 2 fields
Currently I can sort my draft invoices by "To" which seems to then default to "Number" as a second level. I have multiple invoices for the one client each month and it would be great if I could sort by "Ref" then sort by "To" and the "Ref" would remain the second level field, instead of "Number."

The best way to work around this at the moment is to search the contact name on the search field in Draft invoices and then use the sort filter for the references.

Workpapers - Display all Xero Journals in Workpapers to prevent duplication
Can we bring in all Journals made in the financial year not just what we create in workpapers (I picked a job we have completed to test, to see what we might like to see & this is something that would be handy, so we don't double up JNLs), also shows that the system will talk back & forth

Xero Accounting App - Change colour of invoice sent banner
When using the mobile app, currently once an invoice has been completed and emailed, it says "unpaid invoice" in a blue banner at the top. It is sometimes difficult to notice the little popup which says "invoice sent" at the bottom, and this could lead to the invoice being sent again.
Changing the color of the banner at the top (i.e. to green) would be a nice visual indicator the email has already been sent.

Invoices - Ability to select Paid date for invoice with 100% discount
When an invoice is fully settled by a 100% application of a credit, discount, or retainer, Xero should automatically populate the 'Paid Date' with the date the credit/discount was applied.

It sounds like you're applying the 100% discount directly within the invoice. If the paid date differs from the invoice date you could apply a credit note which will record the paid date as the date issued in the credit note.

Sales Invoice - Options to navigate pages of the contacts list from the top of screen
It'd be useful to have the ability to paginate from the top of the Sales Invoice list screen to avoid having to scroll down the page.

Hubspot CRM by Xero -Allow negative line item on unit price
An invoice line item can have a negative unit price in Xero but this cannot be done in the the Xero published Hubspot connector app when creating integrated invoices. See the screenshot for the validation error when trying to set a negative unit price on a line item.
NB the validation error makes no sense either because the negative unit price entered IS less than the product total.

Exclude Auto Save from History and Notes
Exclude new auto save updates from History and Notes. It made sense to save these when it was manual but now it just clutters the history so badly with every auto save creating a new entry.
