  1. Recent changes have gutted our ability to operate under two distinct business names (Branding) under the same Xero account. Our Xero organization name and address is now included by default (and without the option to hide it) on Invoice emails and on Payment acceptance links. This was previously not the case.

This completely breaks branding for us, and I'm not quite sure why this change was made. What is the point of having branding at all of we can't control what organization details are provided to the customer? Support suggested I open another Xero account. That's not an option -…

  2. We need a way for Xero to know that there was a chargeback on an invoice through GoCardless so that the payment applied against the Xero invoice is removed.

There have been instances where a customer's bank did not accept the charge made against the bank account and GoCardless charged us back for the invoice. We didn't collect the payment, but Xero still has the invoice marked as paid. When reconciling AR this month, there was a few invoices that were charged back but were still showing paid.

  3. Hi i can't believe you don't have a POS app tablets for use in cafes and shops. a quick google api for databasing while offline and it would be solid as. you only need to support a handful of thermal printers and cash draws. just look what vend is doing. it would be a huge product if deployed correctly

Hi Douglas, while we don't have a POS app ourselves you'll find Xero integrates with many different POS solutions, including Vend. You can explore the range of these on our App store

We don't have any immediate plans for expanding into this area atm, but we'll keep tracking the interest of this here and share if there's any plans made. Thanks

  5. Allow us to select 'reoccurring payment' in a repeating invoice for Gocardless in Xero.

When Xero generates a repeating invoice that is setup for auto collection from Gocardless, it is classed as a new payment each time and sends the Gocardless customer an email everytime.

In Gocardless when subscriptions were done through its own systems, they were classed as reoccurring payments and therefore as per BACS rules, the customer does not need to be informed everytime payment is taken.

We have over 400 monthly payments and growing, we can't keep emailing customers everytime we take their approved monthly payment, it…

  6. Sometimes clients pays an invoice but then if a refund is issued from that invoice to the same client, in Xero there is no option to add a refund on an invoice, you can only add a payment.
You can only add a refund on a CN but no always there is a CN available.
When a company has multiple clients and there is a large movement of funds, refunds and payments it is very difficult to keep track of these and a suspense account has to be used and therefore be reconciled at the end of the year. Is…

Hi Sara, along with Credit Notes, there is also facilities for Overpayment and Prepayments. Would these commonly fit the scenarios in which you're describing here where large amounts of funds are transferred and perhaps a business overpays their invoices to the business through which a refund is then issued?

Bein quite a tied in feature to the payments model I want to be open that we don't have any immediate plans for changing this or adding a new type of transactions that would directly add refunds to an invoice.

  7. It is far more common place and practical to set a give day of the week to send payment batches. I would assume that most businesses are not firing off payments every day of the week for every individual invoice (ie based on x number of days after invoice/bill date).

That being said, I also believe it is far less common to be offering or to be offered payment terms of old (ie x days after EOM).

It is and has been common place in our industry for more than 20 years, that suppliers provide payments terms of x days…

  9. The PayPal data feed imports dates from UTC, as is.

For example in Australia there is a fairly large window each day where transactions will be imported and appear to have occurred the day prior. For other timezones it's likely the opposite.

In my eyes this is an outright bug/lazy coding. The response I received from support tells me they are aware of the problem, but it's just a known quirk! They suggested adding a manual adjustment to fix the balance when required. Ugh, I would feel dirty doing that, lol.

Essentially the only place the PayPal feed is always…

  10. Please can we have the functionality to add more than one gocardless account to one organisation? We have a client account where funds are directed to a trust account under one account and then our normal gocardless account and would be great to be able to include both sets of transactions (at the moment we have one linked and the other is updated manually at the end of the month.)

  11. I have used both the old & new GoCardless/Xero integrations. I thought the old one was great from an automation perspective if you were able to automate contact creation and this would automatically match the direct debit with the contact.

Unfortunately, the new integration is quite restricted and an auto-match will only be done if the DD mandate is created directly from an invoice in Xero. This makes things very difficult from a scalability perspective and makes the new GoCardless/Xero integration unworkable. I've worked some businesses who have 30+ new customers a week and, once the migration from the old…

  12. Occassionally a debit order fails/ bounces after a considerable amount of time, after the receipt has already reflected on a customer statement. In this case, I should be able to reverse the receipt without removing it from the Accounts Receivable account.

For example, a debit order runs in March and bounces several weeks later in April, after the customer has received a statement.

E.g. end of March they receive a statement showing

    Opening Balance 0
    Invoice 100
    Receipt -100
    Closing Balance 0

When the receipt now bounces in April, their next (April) statement should begin with what the closing balance…

  14. It would be really good to have a tick box on the Invoice creation page similar to "GoCardless: Collect ASAP" which would cause the payment to be collected ASAP as opposed to on the Due Date of the invoice.

For customers who already have a mandate set up via GoCardless, using "+0 days" for Repeating Invoices or "Today" for standard invoices as the Due Date resolves the problem in a way - the money is collected ASAP.

But for customers who do not have a mandate set up, things get even more complicated.
We generally set the Due Date of…

  15. There should be an option to add the Tracking categories in the automatic fees from the Payment services such as Paypal, Stripe, etc. This is a small update but can save a lot of time in EOM processes so we do not need to do Find and Recode at the month-end for these transactions.

  17. I'm invoicing through Xero and I want to allow customers to save their card on file in my stripe account when they pay an invoice.

This way, we can bill them again in the next cycle. We deal with metered pricing, so the value of the invoice is different each month based on usage.

  18. I always have my Xero dashboard open. I use it as my navigation starting point when using Xero. The Xero dashboard would be much more usable if 3rd party integrations were possible and developed. I personally would find it amazing if you would develop a widget to integrate Stripe into the Xero dashboard. This would save significant time and make Xero even more integral to my business an many other business. I utilise the Stripe payment gateway for my invoices and a Stripe widget that listed payments in transit, alerts for payments, etc would be wonderful. Please consider such an…

  19. To make the credit card fee or online payment fee visible in the invoice.

Purpose: Vendor/customer will be able to see how much exactly they’re being charged.

Thanks everyone, we understand the interest for being able to pass on credit card and payment service fees to your customers.

Atm, as some of you have noted - if you're using or set up Stripe as a payment service for your organisation you'll have the ability to pass processing fees onto your customers. This'll be included in the Invoice total when the customer clicks on the Pay now button in your invoice - you can read up on and follow steps on this here.

    Outside this service, while not automated there are ways to represent and pass on fees to your customers;

    • Add detail to your invoice payment terms so this is clear to your customer
    • If there is a default fee that'd be charged you might like to set this up…
