  1. When logging time entries, being able to have rates for individual staff members so when they log their time, it multiplies the hours did with their rates to form a cost to invoice the client. Whenever a senior member of staff works on the same task as a new member of staff, you can charge separate hourly rates for both of them on the same task. This is just when creating tasks, being able to assign staff to the task specifically which will implement their rates onto the task instead of a basic hourly rate

    Hi! Did you know XPM can do this as long as you bill that job using Staff Billable Rate. Set each staff member’s billable rate on their staff record, make sure the job’s Task Invoice Rate is set to Staff Billable Rate, and when senior and junior staff log time to the same task, XPM will automatically multiply their hours by their own rates when calculating WIP and invoices.?

    If you'd like more information its best you raise a case with our Xero Support so they can take you through this process.

  2. It would be useful to be able to set up employees with an hourly rate so that a cost can be assigned against a project when they record their time.

    From what I understand, is not possible to do this at the moment and projects do not show the true cost.

    Maybe there is a way to integrate this with time recording on payroll?

    Hi Kate, thanks for sharing your idea about allocating project hours to different jobs or expenses.

    You can already do this in Xero by using Xero Payroll.

    It is currently possible to assign job tracking to payroll by using Timesheets to add that extra layer of detail. Alternatively, you can use multiple pay items assigned to specific expense accounts that correspond with your tracking categories.

    We have a bit of help around this in Xero Central, but if you need an extra hand setting up those specific pay items or navigating the tracking categories, you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊
