I have projects with dozens of tasks, adding a new tasks while the projects runs and not being able to move them around is very annoying.

I cannot understand why this 'idea' has not been implemented. Very disappointing. Oddly the Practice Management module not for 'us' seems to have all the features we ask for!

Absolutely. I regret moving across from our previous accounting software but our accountants advised us that Xero was the bees knees.
However I don't think they'd ever used projects.
When exporting reports from Projects to Excel the numbers aren't exported in the correct format to add them up!
Please Xero can you get these issues sorted out.

This is the practice management tool Xero recommend to their partners. Without reordering the tasks then it becomes cumbersome.
If we use Projects ourselves we are more likely to recommend it. If we don't like it we are not.

Ability to sort or reorder tasks is basic functionality. Without this function I'll be looking for an alternative.
PLEASE ADD THIS BASIC FUNCTION.

I can feel your disappointment. I have considered using another software myself.
It is a pain as we`re running multiple projects with up to 20 tasks.
Not sure if someone from Xero is even reading this, but if - get a developer on this job and get it sorted, please. It's crazy to lose Xero customers over such a small issue that causes so many of us big problems.

Oh I'd love that Xmas present! But alas I dont think Santa is real... and so unfortunately our business is moving to another platform. It seems crazy that something so small should cause us to do this but having posted multiple times over the years about this being a major pain point and time waster (and almost no response from Xero) we've made the decision to move.
However I still hope you get your xmas present someday!

let`s phrase it like this. If I had a Christmas wish with Xero this would be it.
Please, how complicated can it be for your development team to get the feature to sort tasks in projects implemented?How many more comments do you need in this discussion topic to make it happen?
I`m not a programmer, but if it is possible to sort the projects by drag and drop, it should be possible to sort the tasks in a project the same way.
Give us faith back in your developer team.

It would be very helpful to be able to change the order of the task list and as others have pointed out, this seems to be a quite basic feature. It's a bit disheartening to read in the comments that this has been requested years ago and nothing has been done about it.

I would find it very useful if within Projects, the order in which Tasks appear could be changed once they have been entered. On a complex customer quotation I can have up to 20 tasks and they seem to only appear in the order in which they were entered.

Thanks for your comment Annett, we are also a joinery business just starting to use Projects and I can see that if I have to add new joinery items it will be very difficult for our staff to add their time. I really really hope Xero puts some resources into improving Projects as it is great, but will be awesome with this improvement.

Please get this very important feature up and running as soon as possible.
We constantly have to add tasks to projects and I would like to order them more logically rather than just sticking them to the end.
We`re a joinery business. Every project starts with the design than the different production tasks and at the end the installation. If the client decides to add a production task it sits at the very end behind the install on my list. This is a nightmare for my employees adding their time.I don't think I`m the only one with this problem
