Projects - View quote and invoices linked to project
Why does the Project record not cross-reference the invoice number when the project is invoiced?
And why do they not have dates that they were created or invoices?2 votesJust rounding back, we'll shift this idea to delivered. For anyone coming across the idea here - Currently within a Project you can click on the Quotes & invoices tab to view Invoices that have been raised with the Project assigned and this will also show the Invoice and Due dates. 😊

Project Reports | Option to custom reports
Please give us the option to also edit and custom project reports, I need to add fields, run reports by date and add calculation fields. Currently we have to export available reports and edit in excel, it would be great to do it in Xero.
Thank you, your consideration is much appreciated!
12 votesHey community - this one was released earlier last month, apologies for the delay.
You may have seen that last month, we released an update to our Project reports that delivers this idea!
In addition to exporting to Excel, PDF and Google Sheets, you'll now have the option to save the Project Summary, Details and Financials reports as a custom report.
To get started with custom reports, check out our Create reusable custom report layouts article.
Thanks again for all your feedback around this idea!

Projects Reporting - Add invoice number and reference to project reports
I would like to check which invoices are not allocated to a project and check for each project, which invoices have been allocated.
51 votesHI everyone, thanks for your engagement and support here. I know it's been a while since we updated and I'm pleased to be able to share the improvements we've made to add Invoice Number and Invoice Reference as optional columns to the Project Details report😁
When you next open the report, use the 'Columns' option to add each of these detail. You'll also find you can now Filter by either option too!

Projects | Profitability - Link to run filtered report
The buttons linking to detailed reports from the project profitability tab don't go to the place they claim. They just take you to a blank report view. Very useless and pretty annoying. The software is almost as buggy as Quickbooks. Anyway, here's a screencast showing what I mean: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5hplwiontob2vq4/uselessButtons.mov?dl=0
5 votesHi all, leading on from our last update we're going to move this idea to 'Delivered' with the change the team made to Projects in August last year (apologies for the late update here!) You'll now find that all the reports on the profitability tab take you to the report, filtered to the project you were on 🌟

Projects - Detailed Expense Report
Currently there is detailed expense report in Xero Projects. That's why I cannot use Projects for invoicing and billing yet, because we (engineering consulting industry) are required to submit itemized documents to support any invoiced expenses. For example,
- if it's a subcontractor cost, we need to present the subcontractor bill details
- if it's a mileage reimbursement, we need to present mileage rate and number of miles and the employee who requested such reimbursement.
So, please add the expense report feature in Xero Projects!1 vote -
Projects - Assign users to specific projects
Hi,
We run multiple projects with many resources, it would be good if we could assign or restrict user view/access to specific projects.
Thanks.1 vote -
Projects: Reporting - Bills assigned to a Project
Ability to to show periods of bills that haven't been matched to a Xero project.
Purpose: to confirm that all bills are being assigned to properly to Project.
297 votesHi everyone, thanks for your patience. Ability to view bills that have not been assigned to a project is now live to 100% of users.
To access this feature;- Click the 3 dot drop down menu from the Bills list screen
- Select 'Bills not assigned to projects'
You'll be taken to a page where you c an select the date range for viewing bills that have not been assigned to a project in your organisation, where you can then edit and assign each bill.
Alternatively, go to Projects and select Add > Expenses from bill to get to the same screen. On a separate note - taking on your recent feedback I do want to confirm that this feature is limited to Bills at present and does not extend to Sales invoices.
We understand the importance of being able to make use and understand dates associated to projects - We made… -
Projects: Reporting - Show transaction detail amounts based on the transactions date
Ability to filter and view results in the Project Reports by date on the transaction, rather than the date it was entered in Xero
Purpose: Understand total costs assigned to a project/all projects at a certain point in time.
19 votesHi everyone, thanks for voting on this idea! The new reports mean that you can now report by the transaction's date 🎉
Here's more information on how reporting dates work in the Project Details report

Projects Desktop Timer App
I would like to suggest a desktop version of the Projects Timer app. Either Chrome or MacOS would be my personal preference. The mobile app is great but when you work online it's annoying to frequently log in to your phone which is a potential distraction if anything.
7 votesSorry we've not rounded back here sooner! A little earlier this year our Projects team released an update that allows Projects users to create time entries and record time on your computer, through the Web version of Xero - See more on Xero Central
So rounding out the experience you can now record time from your desktop, or your mobile device 😊
Appreciate, recent commentary on ways you'd like the desktop timer to be further optimized for your workflow. If there's something more you'd like to see in this please do start a new idea and we can begin tracking the support for that too.

Projects - Start/Stop Live Time tracking
Hi guys,
Current Harvest user that would love to just use your projects feature, thought you might like to know the only thing stopping me is the ability to track live time.
1 voteHi everyone, we've made some great enhancements to the Projects experience, and would like to share these with you all. 😊
You can now track time from your mobile or desktop computer -Within a project, add time entries by selecting duration or entering Start & Stop times where Xero will calculate duration for you.
Through Projects (iOS and Android) app you have access to a built-in timer so you can carry out work in other apps while still tracking time spent on a project.
And, with our most recent addition you can give Xero Projects permission to access your location data and suggest time entries for you!
