Inventory - A report for quantity of product items sold per contact or group
I want to be able to run a report of the quantity of a specific item that my contact or a group of contacts sell in a specific time period. not dollar amount, but an actual item or group of items.
2 votesThanks for your suggestion about reporting on the quantity of items sold per contact or contact group over a given period (rather than just the total dollar value). At the moment, Xero doesn’t have a specific report that shows “item quantity by contact or contact group”, and this isn’t on our current roadmap for inventory or reporting. Today, some customers approximate this using the Receivable Invoice Details report or Sales by Item report with filters and external pivots, but we know that’s not as simple as having a dedicated report.
This idea is still open for votes and If this work does move onto the roadmap in future, we’ll post an update on this idea.

Contacts - An additional column to show planned date after invoice date and due date
add to show the planned date for payment on the contact page where you can see all the bills as an option for the columns. so we can see if we have set up payment for each of the bills in the contact page for each contact/supplier.

Contacts - Switch "They Owe" and "You Owe" columns to align with accounting norms.
The Contacts listing in Xero shows amount owing on left and amount receivable on right, it would be more 'readable' to accountants if it were the other way around:
They Owe - left side / debit / current asset
You Owe - right side / credit / current liability3 votesThanks for sharing your idea about how you'd like the "You Owe" and "They Owe" columns to be the other way around.
It's worth noting that the current orientation matches the Spent/Received columns in the Reconcile tab of the bank account. You might like to raise a separate product idea if you'd also like a similar change there (or maybe an option to swap the columns around).
In the meantime, we've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share this idea with any colleagues that this could also benefit, so they can add their votes and comments too!

Contacts - Turn off the Contact name suggestions when entering transactions
Please provide functionality in Xero to turn off the contact name suggestions when creating an invoice, bill, receive money or spend money transaction. This is very frustrating especially if you make a mistake and it saves it, it is there forever. Also the list can get quite long. We need to delete the names that are not required anymore from the list. Please, please fix this issue up.
11 votesHi everyone, appreciate the feedback here. As you may have noticed we have made some changes to the Contact field within new invoicing over the past few months to improve the experience.
When entering a contacts name, the contact's shown are results from your existing contact record.
As a start to help with cleaning up contacts that have been created in error you can either edit contact records, or merge contacts that may have been created as duplicates in error. This will help limit the number of contacts that are appearing in results when you type a contacts name on an invoice.

Customer Statements - Consolidated statements for a group of Contacts
We have dozens of parent companies with underlying subsidiaries who place separate orders for separate locations, all under the parent company's credit line/name. These all split into different contacts in Xero when they come in from our order processing system. We need Xero to support hierarchies/parent-child relationships/nested orders, so that all purchases can be aggregated to the parent company, both for tracking overall credit use and for sending consolidated statements that include all purchases from all "children". We work with BigCommerce who has a BundleB2B feature that allows these kind of parent-child hierarchies on the client-facing side, but we can't…

Contacts - Automatically create contacts based on bank transaction details/payee
For users who do not use Xero to create invoices, automatically create customers and suppliers based on receipts or payments in bank reconciliation.
1 voteHi Gary, just to better understand your idea here. Is it mainly that you'd like to classify a contacts as a customer or supplier based on spend and receive money transactions?
Right now, as you may be aware you can easily create a new contact while reconciling, however the contact will only be classed as a customer or supplier based on the type of transacti9ons that are entered for them.
We have an existing idea around this I could merge your feedback in with?

Contact - Add filtering to the list of contacts
We are a small business that has just started using Xero, but already have 400+ contacts. Would love the ability to filter the contact list. For example, filter by country (show me all contacts in the UK, USA, etc.), filter by creation date or updated date (show me all contacts created in the last 30 days), etc.
There is no way to sort and filter the contacts, just endless scrolling through a long list.
Functionality feature that may not be critical to business operations, but it would make life a bit easier!
8 votesHi Brian, appreciate it's not a direct filter option like you're asking here however if you often need to filter by say country or another aspect of your Contact perhaps you may consider creating Contact groups? This way you'd be able to click on the group within contacts when you need.
Being open we don't have any direct plans for adding more filtering to the Contact list atm, but we'll continue to track your idea here and share if there are any plans made.

Contacts - Keep 'Use as billing address' checked when edited
When using the new Check box. 'Use as billing address'. If you type in the address afterwards and edit the address. It deletes the the selected checkbox. 'use as billing address'
Just frustrating as you have to go back in and recheck.
6 votesHey Steve, thanks for raising this idea around the ‘Use as billing address’ checkbox resetting when a contact is edited.
Keeping the checkbox selected unless intentionally changed would make things quicker, easier, and less error-prone when updating contact details.
We’ve now moved the idea into the Gaining Support stage. That means it’s open for votes and comments, and we’ll be keeping an eye on the demand as feedback comes in. The community input helps the team gauge what matters most to our users.

Contacts - Additional People Search
it would be nice to pull from a dropdown of existing contacts already in the system to add to Additional People instead of having to type in their first/last name and email all over anew.
4 votesHey all, just a quick update on this.
Although we don't have any plans for this right now, feel free to share this idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their votes and comments to share how this might be useful to them, too.

Contacts - Ability to add an ID type for e-invoicing
Noticed that the BRN can be filled in the "Business Registration Number" data field in Xero Contact, but how about the individual contact with an Identity Card or Passport number?
Even we can fill the IC / passport number in the BRN field, but how to choose the ID type (whether it is IC No., Passport No., BRN, or Army No.)?
4 votesHi Liew, thanks for raising this. We can see how having a dedicated field for e-invoicing IDs on a contact would make things easier, especially when you're managing different ID types and need a quick way to reference them.
At the moment, you can enter specific IDs like the BRN, but there’s no option to add a custom or more general ID type.
This idea’s now in the Gaining Support stage. Your input helps us get a better sense of how useful this would be across the wider Xero community, and feeds into how we prioritise updates. We’ll share more here when there’s progress.

Contact - Sub contacts
Would it be possible to create a contact who is a "sub contact" of an existing contact. For example we perform work for a strata management company. Every invoice is made out to [name of strata company] but the contact details, email address and physical address are all the same - that of the management company. I would love to create [strata management company] as the main contact with all the strata "divisions" they manage below them without having to create a new contact for every single new building. What are my chances?
33 votesHi team, we appreciate the interest and rational in this idea when you trade with Contacts that might be part of a larger group.
We want to be open that this isn't something we have plans for developing just atm, but will keep considering the idea as we continue to develop contacts in Xero. I'll share if there is any progress here.

Please make archiving and restoring contacts more intuitive and user-friendly
Make archiving and restoring contacts more intuitive and user-friendly.
Option for archiving contacts should be select from drop-down menu or click on "the 3 dots" and select.
Having to find an historical invoice allocated to an archived contact in order to restore them is super-unhelpful and counterintuitive. MUCH better to include archived contacts in Contacts options and include a "Restore" option via "press and hold", drop-down or the 3 dots.
3 votesHi Bradley, have you tried archiving and restoring contacts from the Contacts list? From here simply select the contact/s you'd like to archive and you'll see the option at the top of the list turn blue for you to click.
When you'd like to restore a contact you'll find the Archive tab as an option from this same screen, where you can click on the contact to open it's record and there is a blue Restore option in the top right.

Contact - Font color
If we cannot put a warning against the bad payers, surely it cannot be that hard to be able to change the customers business names into another color (Red) So when you search or create a new invoice, alarm bells will ring and hopefully avoid more loss
8 votesHi Todd, have you seen credit limits? These will allow you to set a limit to how much spending a customer can make with your business. When they reach that limit you can also choose whether to restrict invoicing for that customer. This may help with the scenario you're noting here.

Advisor Directory - Instagram link
I would love to link the practice to Instagram for clients to find us. I have more followers there than FB. I also get more inquiries from IG.
4 votesThanks for your feedback, Tonia.
While it's not currently possible to add your Instagram link to your advisor listing on xero.com, you could add your Xero advisor listing URL from xero.com to add to your Instagram page.
We don't have direct plans for adding more social link options to Xero advisor listings atm, but we'd like to get a sense of the community support for this that our product team can consider.

Contact record: suppliers and customers list by page
On the Suppliers list, if you want to get to the next page you need to scroll down to the bottom of that page. Could there be a next page toggle at the top of the page as well as the bottom. This also is applicable to Customers.

Contact - Show Available Credit onContact Activity tab
Display in the Contact Section the amount of Credit the customer has in his favor because of prepayments made by them. You are able to see the customers credit when you have an invoice they owe for it to be credited to that specific invoice. But it would be super helpful to view in that little summary of the customer, how much he owes the company and if there is any credit in his favor to be applier.
3 votesAppreciate you coming back to me on my update, Carlos. Understand that you'd like an additional figure to show available credit.
Just to re-highlight to others coming across this idea - Currently, where you have credit notes entered for a contact if the balance of the total credits outweighs the total invoice amounts entered for a contact these will show as a negative balance on the side of the Contacts record.
While we don't have any plans around this we'll continue to track the support in this here, and if will share any updates if there's change.

Contact - Ability to re-order columns in the Activity tab
Good morning...In the customer contact screen, how can I re-arrange the columns - I need to see the Total first, then Paid, then Due. Thanks
1 voteSorry for the wait updating your idea here, Lorie. This isn't something we have plans for just atm, but will keep a watch on the support this continues to grow.

Contacts - Search newly registered addresses
When adding a contact, the "search address" works fine most of the time, but can take some time before new addresses are added to the search data base and require manual entry (usually cut and paste from Google Maps.) Could this feature not be linked with an API to the likes of Googles address infrastructure to utilise their rapidly adapting data base?
5 votesThanks for your feedback here, team. This helps when sharing back with our product team. I've slightly amended the title of your idea.
We don't have any immediate plans for changing the current base results are pulled but we'll keep an eye on the interest here. I'll be sure to update you if there's any news.
