1. New files beta: re-enable reading email while looking at file

   A beta for the files inbox has shown up on one of my clients today, and it's unusable as is (and I can't disable it and go back to a functional workflow). The biggest thing that is not working for me is that I can no longer view a file and the email associated with that file at the same time.

   Attached is a screenshot showing what my files inbox for this client looks like. It's full of files which are the images from everyone's signature panels in the email thread. I can't delete the file without going back to the list of files, and I can't see the email to check if there's associated information I need (like, for example, the name of the contractor whose timesheet has been sent to me this way, which is an Excel file so I can't look at it without downloading, and which I need to rename with the contractors name so that it says something other than "Client Timesheet Date").

   The delete button also needs to be next to the archive button for all instances of the archive button, not just once at the top of the list, where it disappears as soon as I scroll down.

   Lastly - and this has been a problem for a while - I need the currently highlighted file not to move when it's clicked to view. In the previous file inbox list, the file names would wrap, and the view would remain x distance from the top of the list even as the viewing window opening and the lines wrapping meant that the list took up more space and the file name I'm working with would disappear off the bottom of the screen. The new beta does the same thing, except worse because each filename now has the date it was sent under it instead of in another column so each line is a minimum of double the height when you're viewing the file compared to when you're not.

2. Add a Search Function to Xero Files

   It can be difficult to find a specific file when there are hundreds of documents stored in Xero Files.

   Add a search bar that lets users quickly search for files by:

   File name
   Supplier or customer name
   Invoice number
   Keyword
   Date
   Amount

   This would save time, improve efficiency, and make it much easier to find supporting documents during day-to-day bookkeeping and audits.

3. Files - Xero files now contain PDF's of docs uploaded via 3rd party apps such as Dext which is messy and not necessary

   Since the latest updates to Files (which I appreciate is building on AI), Xero Files now contains PDF's of all docs uploaded from Dext for example. Some of my clients have thousands of these docs, they're saved against the data entry and they're filling up files for no reason I can see. Might also cause storage issues down the line doubling up these PDFs. Could we get an switch off option?

4. Document Request Portal

   Allow accountants to request documents from clients directly from Xero.

   Example:

   "Please upload your July fuel receipts."
   Client uploads directly against the request.

   No more chasing documents by email or WhatsApp.

5. Files - Quickly add new contacts directly from Files uploads

   Currently if a file is uploaded for a Contact that doesn't exist in Xero, we have to open a new tab to manually add the Contact. Could a button or hyperlink be added to the transaction screen in the File section that will open a new page or pop up to add the Contact? This will reduce clicks and increase efficiency. Bonus if we can "quick add" where just the Contact name is added by clicking a button in File. Another bonus if the Contact add screen autopopulates as much info from the File that it can (vendor or customer name, address, etc.).

   Hi Melanie, currently if you upload a file to your files inbox, our new Smart document capture will try review and auto create a suggested transaction for you.

   When you review and view the file details you'll be able to select the document type and then change the Contact details. If the contact doesn't exist you can select to Create the contact which will open the modal for you to enter your new contact details on the fly.

   Once you save the contact, you'll also be able to open the contact record in a separate tab of your browser.
