Thanks for sharing your thoughts on bulk allocation of credit notes, everyone. We understand that manually applying credit notes one by one can be time-consuming, and we appreciate wanting a a faster, more streamlined solution.
Currently, while we know it won't be the flow that suits all, it's possible to apply credit notes to multiple invoices for a single contact by opening the credit note and selecting the invoices to apply it to.
Atm, we're in the process of releasing a new experience for Sales Credit Notes. This work will enable us to develop changes like you're asking here longer term. However, the initial release is focused on developing existing features into the new Credit Notes experience. Once this is fully rolled out the team will have more capacity to consider enhancements like bulk allocations, however we want to be upfront that this isn't planned for the short term.

@Adrian Soden this still means that credits are matched to invoices which they might not relate to and also it is an added cost! This needs to be sorted by Xero so credits can be picked up along with invoices when reconciling as you can in other software.

Hi everyone, we’ve taken time to review the suggestion to include custom fields for both invoices and contacts, and recognise the value it'd bring in helping users capture more detailed information and avoid manual processes.
However, with other focuses drawing the teams attention such as multiple addresses this idea is not on our current development roadmap.
As we continue to plan future roadmaps, being highly supported this idea will continue to be considered, however we want to be open about it's current position with you all here. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and for your ongoing participation in the Xero community. Any changes to this status will be shared with everyone on this idea.

Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.
We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

Thanks for finally putting a reply, however it is really disappointing. This is a basic feature available from other software providers and it is causing many of us issues from additional time allocating credit notes to having to explain statement and remittance differences. I would rather time was spent resolving this rather than the reporting features at this time.

I also raised in the quarterly update and was given a guide on how to allocate credit notes totally missing the point! I was then advised to put a suggestion here! I am struggling to get excited by the new features when this basic request is being ignored.

This is a basic function available in most accounting software packages and I have asked for it many times. It is costing me a frustrating amount of time with larger clients and often credit notes do not directly relate to one invoice.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE sort this out!

While it is appreciated that finally Xero have commented on this "idea" (I would call it basic functionality of any accounting system) it is extremely disappointing that Xero are not recognising the importance. It is not a nice to have, it is vital for accurate accounts and everyone's sanity.
It is hard to explain to clients that this is not possible when it was available in their previous software as a basic feature.
Please stop wasting development time on things people are not complaining about and sort this!
