Appreciate you sharing here, Mike. Keen to get a bit more detail on the actions that are occurring for you here. When you say you remove the invoice number and it's changing - Are you trying to save the invoice with another number that you're entered or would you be trying to save this blank?
If not already I'd recommend raising a case with our Xero Support team of specialists to take a closer look at why this may be changing for you.

Hello everyone, appreciate all your feedback here. To be upfront, we don’t have any plans to develop the ability to reconcile clearing, control and non-bank accounts in the near future.
Some of the technology improvements going on across Xero will create more opportunities for us to explore extending some of the more complex functionality from one part of Xero to another. However, we are some way off from this yet.
That being said, there is the Account transaction report that could be handy in providing a view of both sides of a transaction in Xero. You can include the related account as a column in the report - See more in our help article on this.
Alternatively, if you’re using an external system, you could look into the Xero App store.
Appreciate there are also lots of ways others are using Xero’s to fit their needs - If you…

Hi community, we appreciate you engaging and letting us know the importance of drag and dropping files into your invoices.
Since the release of the attach files feature within new invoicing our teams have being paying close attention to feedback and understand the efficiency you need in this process.
This is something our team are looking to make improvements for and we'll shift the idea to working on it. As this develops I'll keep you updated of news and provide more detail through the idea, here.
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commentedAfter a bunch of basic QA-type testing, I've found that the Attach Files box consistently closes when the invoice is autosaved. So if I wait the eternity it takes to save before I open the box then it doesn't close on me.
Takes forever, though. Seriously, today I gave up after waiting 30 seconds, and then it glitched on trying to delete the faux invoice I was using to test!
Freya Pieroz supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commentedIt takes 16 tabs to get from adding the recipient (so you can add files) to being able to open the dropdown to let you attach the files. Another one to open the dialog box to attach the files. Another nine to get to the list of files, to highlight and press enter to attach (_this_ step is fine, that's Windows standard, and a minimum of input needed to get the results wanted). Then another four to get to click the tickybox to include with online Invoice (capitalisation as per pop-up). Then _28_ tabs to get to Approve & Send.
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commentedI keep dragging and dropping the file onto the invoice, and then having to close the tab that opens to view the file. I would like new invoicing to allow drag and drop onto the body of the invoice, just like you can do for bills.

Hi everyone, some time on since my last update I wanted to give you more of an idea of the work we have going on to help reduce the number of steps and actions in new invoicing. Along with the changes mentioned in my last update, we've since released a change to the view of an invoice to shift details back into their own columns (similar to classic), while a small change we know it's improved visibility for some of our customers.
We also have other work in development atm that’ll further help here like a new line item grid when editing your invoice - wrapped up in this we’ll be introducing changes you’ve been asking for like the ability to create a new tracking option or account code without having to navigate away from the invoice, we’re increasing the number of items that you can view from the drop…
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commentedThe drag and drop spot in invoicing closes when autosaving. If you wait (forever!) until it's finished saving that you clicked somewhere before starting to attach documents, the drag and drop spot is more likely to stay open.
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commented@Claire Barning that's just one of the many reasons the New Invoicing doesn't meet the Accessibility requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Anything that requires mouse usage is unusable for people who can't use a mouse (like when I had hand surgery)

Perhaps the Receivable Invoice Summary or Detail reports would accommodate your needs here? Omitting the aging periods this report can be filtered to only show the Status and Source(Receivable Prepayment, Receivable Invoice etc.) of transactions you'd like to see.

Appreciate your input here, everyone. Our team is looking into this idea however, they don't have any dates planned on when they’ll develop the ability to schedule emails.
Totally understand how this feature could benefit your workflow though, being able to schedule an email to send during acceptable hours, so you don’t have to remember!
Rest assured that our eyes are on the ground monitoring your feedback and votes here, so please keep adding them in this thread. For the time being, I’ll move this idea into ‘Under review’ status. And if there's any movement, we'll make sure to come back here and let you all know.
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commentedI have eight separate client payruns that are due between Christmas this year and when I get back into the office again. I'd really like to be able to schedule the sending of payslips so that I don't have to log in while on annual leave (which is illegal for an employer to require in Australia) to send the payslips within one day of the various paydays (which is a legal requirement in Australia).
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commented@Derrick Murphy not to mention that logging in to send one invoice can trigger minimum shift payments from one's contract - I know my own contract has a provision that I get paid a minimum of four hours worth when I work for less than four hours in a day (it's very common here in Australia, where the legal minimum shift under most Awards is 3-4 hours). And it's really not worth it to my boss to pay me for four hours when I'm doing less than 15 minutes work on my day off!
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commented@Geoff Schmidt in your scenario (prep payroll on Friday for payment on Monday) it's a legal requirement under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cwth) that pay slips be sent within one working day of pay day, so technically sending the pay slips on the Friday would be legal (assuming a Monday to Friday working week). If you prepped payroll on Friday for payment on Tuesday, however, it would not be legal (technically) to send pay slips on the day that payroll was prepared.
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commentedI would love to be able to schedule an invoice so it sends when I'm on leave!
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commentedI would dearly love to be able to create December 2023 invoices before Christmas to be sent on the 2nd January, so that I wouldn't have to come back from holidays early just to ensure continuity of cashflow later.
I'd also dearly love to be able to create the payroll that's due for automated payment during the EOY break before I left to visit family, and have the payslips send on the day that it's scheduled for payment! It's not a break if I have to log in to send payslips, it's technically illegal in Australia for payslips to be sent that early (under the Fair Work Act 2009 they must be sent within 1 working day of the date of payment), and it's definitely illegal for them to be sent after I get back from holidays.

Aaah I see, thanks for the extra detail, Freya. Appreciate where you're coming from. With a few other items of focus for the team in this space atm, I do want to be open that there aren't any plans atm, but we'll track the interest here, I'll make sure this extra detail gets back to the team, and can share if there is any change to update you on, here.
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commented(please note that I do not want the ability to add files to the invoice to be removed, I would merely like to be able to add files to the email when sending the invoice as well)
An error occurred while saving the comment Freya Pieroz commentedHi Kelly, yes, I'd like to be able to add the extra files while in the "Send email" screen. I often start the process of sending invoices and only _then_ realise when I'm reviewing the email that I haven't attached everything that needs to be attached to the invoice - and you can only attach files to the email if they've been attached to the invoice, before you start the process of emailing.

@Melvyn Simonson - actually, I use YYYYMMDD all the time for file naming, because then sorting by name gets a chronological order. It's not common, but the ISO 8601 standard is YYYY-MM-DD or YYYYMMDD for international communication of date-related data, because it removes ambiguity.
