Hi community, as mentioned in my last post we want to keep you looped in on changes around autosave.
Our product team has continued to focus attention on how we can make invoicing faster and more responsive to improve our customers' experience.
We've now optimised autosave to require less processing power, leading to faster invoice loading and saving.
While we don't have any plans to remove autosave, there is the possibility that we would make updates to improve experiences related to autosave in the future - I've provided links below to ideas that have been raised and remain open for consideration;
- Invoicing - Undo/revert to previous version of an invoice
- Exclude Auto Save from History and Notes
- Invoices - Add invoice number when invoice is Approved

Well, give that the Xero product team is tone-deaf and didn't listen to more than *437*+ users who voted for this, refused to make any changes at all, and then closed comments - guess it's time to open a new thread!Hilariously - the latest update was that Xero "improved the processing speed" - Oh, wonderful! So now my invoices will autosave incorrectly even faster! What a joy...

All we ask is for the *option* to disable this feature. That's all. It's really not a big ask and would make things monumentally a better experience.

Auto-save is annoying!
1. I have many drafts that come in and they are expected to be ready for review already; when auto-saves are happening and someone goes in to mess around on something or just doesn't finish and then a draft is saved, it causes confusion!
2. if i'm working and change the invoice number, it then tries to autosave, but then if the invoice number is taken - it gets reset. it did this multiple times as i was trying to copy the format over from another invoice, and then went to another screen to copy the information i was going to replace, only to discover what i had just copied disappeared due to autosave finding a 'conflicting invoice' (which there wouldn't be because i wasn't ready to save!)Edited by Community Manager to remove inappropriate language

Hi everyone, we’ve taken time to review the suggestion to include custom fields for both invoices and contacts, and recognise the value it'd bring in helping users capture more detailed information and avoid manual processes.
However, with other focuses drawing the teams attention such as multiple addresses this idea is not on our current development roadmap.
As we continue to plan future roadmaps, being highly supported this idea will continue to be considered, however we want to be open about it's current position with you all here. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and for your ongoing participation in the Xero community. Any changes to this status will be shared with everyone on this idea.

*Custom Columns on Bills & Invoices*
Often, we'll be tracking an order in our own system under it's own number, say #1234. Currently we put this in the Reference field. However, our supplier will have their own order number as well, say "INV00123"
It would be nice to track both of these, be able to search, and be able to see them in the list view.
What I'll often do when I'm about to send a payment is select all the invoices, take the sum that Xero shows, and send a wire transfer for that. Then I'll copy/paste the text from Xero (Clean it up a bit) and email that to our supplier so they can reconcile all the bills we're attaching to that payment. Currently, they get a list of our order numbers - but then they need to reverse search and look up their own. We're already tracking this info on the description of a line-item, but this is impossible to see on the list view.

Hi everyone, we appreciate all the votes and comments on this idea. We’ve heard your feedback and recognise how helpful it would be to see invoices and bills awaiting approval directly from the dashboard.
The good news is that a solution is currently in development. As you might’ve heard, we’re currently working on a new navigation and homepage experience, which is currently in Beta.
As part of this update, you'll be able to view the # of awaiting approval invoices or bills from the Bills to pay or Invoice owed to you widgets, and can go straight to the relevant screen from the new Task widget helping you stay on top of approvals without needing to jump between pages - You'll just need the right user permissions to see this.
If you’d like a preview, you can check out the design on our Prototype page. We’re still building this…
