Hi team, we'd like to share another update as work for allowing direct wage payments via open banking with Crezco is well underway.
We look forward to updating everyone on this idea as soon as this is released.
As previously mentioned - we want to be upfront that we don't have any plans for extending the payment file export format to CSV, however direct payments will eliminate the need for a manual export saving you a few steps in this process. 🙂

Hi team, as you may have seen from our Designer Jen's message this idea is in discovery with the team now doing some testing on early concepts.
We'd love to have your input as part of this and if you'd like to take part we invite you to fill in this quick survey. 📝
While we may not be able to invite everyone into these sessions our team will be in touch over the next few weeks.
I'll be sure to share any further updates on tyhis with you all here. Thanks!

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on prepayment and accrual schedules. We appreciate you explaining how important this is for your month-end processes and workflow efficiency.
I’d like you to know your idea's been carefully reviewed by our product team. They appreciate and understand the need for tracking revenue and expenditure related to prepayments and accruals, however at this time with other initiatives in the roadmap such as improving the bill creation and payment processes there are currently no plans for this in the pipeline.
We’re keeping a close account of the support in this here, and will continue to review this opportunity within future planning. If there’s any progress made I’ll be sure to share with you all, here.

Hi team, thank you for your thorough feedback in this idea. We appreciate there are different preferences our users have when approving invoices in Xero and just to re-highlight - there are now keyboard shortcuts available for most action buttons in invoicing to help navigate and quickly select the option you prefer rather than the drop down selection.
Though we understand it is not the news you're hoping here we want to be transparent that there are no plans at this stage to add the ability to set your own default for the Approve button in invoicing.
We will continue to track the support this idea keeps building and be sure to let you know if there is any change to the status of this idea, here.

I agree with Nigel Harper and adding it all to the settings menu than having a really clunky invoicing screen and layout. User profile or invoice setting being an obvious place. So many users don't issue invoices through xero.

I have seen lots of discussion mentions about this, and the answer that xero projects is designed to be simple and basic. If it is meant for project tracking then surely a project numbering system is a prerequisite.

Hi everyone, we appreciate your patience & would like to thank everyone who’s shared their thoughts and supported this idea.
Xero's payroll reports do currently offer some options to adjust columns, filters & layout. However we hear & understand the need for having additional information & more flexibility with payroll reporting, including the ability to customise & save reports for future use.
Being open here, these improvements are not in our current pipeline. However we'll use this feedback to shape how we plan future improvements in Xero Payroll reports.

I have commented before but I am certain that you could previously edit a payroll report and save it. I had a customised version of the Gross to Net report for ages as I need a specific column order and also can omit lots of the columns for my reporting. I don't understand why a previous functionality has been withdrawn.

Thanks for this feedback on how pension enrollment currently works in Xero payroll. It’s been a little while since you raised this idea, so we wanted to check in. We can see this idea has been steadily gaining support. Our product team are keeping an eye on this idea and we will continue to share updates as things evolve.
In the meantime, here's a tip to trigger pension assessment before posting the pay run:
- With the pay run in draft click Post.
- When the Automatic pension enrolment pop up displays, click Confirm.
- On the Complete Pay Run pop up, click Cancel.
- You can now open the draft payslip or download pay run reports with the pension deductions included.

I see the comments here about the requirement for auto-enrolment. Our pension provider covers all auto-enrolment duties, and so there is no need to duplicate this work in xero. The problem for us arises as the pension provider assesses in one month and then commences contributions the following month, allowing the employee ample time to opt out before contributions are taken and therefore never having to process refunds. As they are one of the largest UK providers I assume their system is compliant for all UK payroll and tax legislation.
Xero will then try to assess and deduct in the same month, leading to a discrepancy with the pension system. It should be possible to tick a declaration box stating that auto-enrolment is being completed outside of xero and send that to HMRC if necessary, and then opt out of auto-enrolment in xero altogether, and set up contributions via the payslip items as usual when needed.

Hey all, thanks for sharing your feedback on having reimbursements show on the Gross to Net report. Currently this report only captures taxable income.
It’s been a little while since this idea was raised and we can see it's been steadily gaining support.
To help this idea gain traction, please share it with colleagues so they can vote for it too. The comment section is also open for all members to share how this feature would improve their Xero experience.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one, community. We know how important scheduling payslips is for many of you, and we appreciate the time you’ve taken to explain how it could help your workflow.
We understand being able to set a future send date could make life easier when you’re managing different client paydays, covering for colleagues who are away or avoiding confusion from employees receiving payslips before the money is in their account.
Right now the workaround is to set a reminder to log in and send payslips on the required day. We know that’s not ideal, and while we don’t have dates to share, we’re committed to improving the payslip experience. This idea is under active consideration and we’ll keep you updated on progress.

Thanks for your feedback and for sharing your thoughts on this idea. We understand having to untick the "Show (currency) items only" adds extra clicks and slows you down. Our current default setting is designed to help prevent common reconciliation mistakes. Most users primarily reconcile transactions in their local currency, so defaulting to that view helps keep the screen less cluttered and reduces the risk of accidental mismatches with foreign currency transactions, which can be complex. For now, the process is to untick the "Show [currency] items only" box whenever you need to reconcile a foreign currency transaction. We know this isn't a perfect solution for everyone, but we wanted to provide some context on why the current design is in place. We'll continue to listen to your feedback and will let you know if anything changes. Thanks for being part of the Xero community!

Agree with this so much. If you have multi-currency options setup why would you need this extra step every time in the bank rec. Please at least add an option in currency settings to display all items.

Just a couple of tips relevant to these comments (altough I still think a csv payments file is a basic request that xero should include in the payment file options).
For payroll export: the 'gross to net' report or 'transaction listing details' report may have a better layout for a simple view on all payroll items.
For creating a payment file: in the end I used an LLM to help me create a python script which automates a monthly csv bank payment file from a list of payee detals and the net payment report (from the transaction listing details export).
