Hi everyone, some time on since my last update I wanted to give you more of an idea of the work we have going on to help reduce the number of steps and actions in new invoicing. Along with the changes mentioned in my last update, we've since released a change to the view of an invoice to shift details back into their own columns (similar to classic), while a small change we know it's improved visibility for some of our customers.
We also have other work in development atm that’ll further help here like a new line item grid when editing your invoice - wrapped up in this we’ll be introducing changes you’ve been asking for like the ability to create a new tracking option or account code without having to navigate away from the invoice, we’re increasing the number of items that you can view from the drop…

Hi team, I know it's been a while since my last update and we'd like to confirm that our team are working to address your concerns, here. We'll be providing quicker access to the calendar picker for both the invoice due and issue dates. Work's underway atm and we plan to have this released to you all before classic invoicing retirement. I'll swing back again as soon as it's ready 🙂

But what exactly is the point of forcing users to go through extra steps? Take the invoice "Due Date" selection for example. We used to get a simple pop-up calendar that let us pick the due date in one easy click. It worked perfectly. Now, we have ridiculous options like 1 day, 2 days, 1 week, and so on. And to top it off, if we want to select a specific date, we have to click an extra button for "See Extra Dates." Are you kidding me? Why add an unnecessary layer of complexity? How does this benefit anyone? It only serves to create frustration and increases the chance of making mistakes. Just leave it as the straightforward calendar pop-up it was before!
And another thing—when you’re creating an invoice, you naturally work down the page. So, logically, you’d expect the "Save Invoice" button to be at the bottom. But no, someone thought it made sense to make us scroll back up to the top to save. Why? How does it make any sense to go down the page just to go back up again? These might seem like trivial complaints to you, but they weren’t broken before. So what exactly is "improved" about these changes? Nothing, if you ask me!

Hi team, while we don't have immediate plans to change the placement of buttons on new invoicing we're interested in staying close to this feedback and I'll move the idea to Under review for the time being. We'll return to confirm any outcomes.Â

Hi everyone, as another step toward improving history of new invoicing you'll find you'll now see an entry when an invoice is sent, and the email address it has been sent to.Â
We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing.Â
We still have more enhancements on the way for history and I'll be back again when more updates land.Â

Xero’s new invoicing system is a textbook example of a “downgrade disguised as an upgrade.” What used to be a simple, efficient process has become a frustrating mess of extra clicks, unnecessary scrolling, and a user interface that looks like it was designed by kids for a school project. Tasks that once took seconds now require navigating through cluttered menus, hunting for options, and wading through a poorly optimized layout that sacrifices functionality for a less than modern look.
Frankly, the only way I could express my dissatisfaction was by voting with my wallet. After exploring my options, I downgraded from paying £39 per month to £19 per month – for the same features. It’s infuriating that rather than improving functionality, Xero seems more focused on pushing customers into higher-priced plans while offering a worse user experience.
