Hi everyone, I'm very pleased to share that we've just released the ability to lodge future year Company Tax returns(CTR) through Xero Tax in Australia!
We know there are a few other forms that have been mentioned through this idea and will leave it open for further updates, however CTR's we're the highest ask on the list for majority of our Partners.
We want to say a big thank you to you all who've supported this and been involved in the journey of it's development.

There is an inability to prepare and lodge income tax returns for the forward 2025 year for companies and trusts including deceased estates.
In regard to companies deregistering in the 2024/2025 tax year or wanting to deregister in that year, the company cannot do a 2024/25 tax return after deregistration as the ATO will not accept a lodgment after the date of deregistration as it is considered by the ATO to no longer exist. Companies cannot do a 2024/25 tax return before deregistration as Xero do not have this function available.
This functionality needs to be urgently implemented.
Our previous tax software provider, MYOB, did provide this as part of their software.
In regard to deceased estates, the inability to do a forward year tax return holds up the winding up of that Estate.
Both of these examples are unacceptable.
We realise that a paper tax return could be filed for each of these examples but the process is more unwieldy on a number of fronts.
Updating the tax software would allow for a better process which would also eliminate potential mistakes and misplacement of returns that would have to be physically mailed and handled. -

Clients don't always do what is asked of them and have to be followed up.
Reporting on the date sent out becomes an important tool to manage clients tax lodgments considering that tax agents have a lodgment program to meet.Rob Allen supported this idea ·

The ability to input contact details in XPM and have it sync correctly to Xero and vice versa is a significant time saver, very logical and should be fixed asap.
Accepting the setting in XPM causes unnecessary additional work and should either be removed or fixed, not left for customers to tick thinking that it will be the time saver intended.
This is another issue due to the bolt on (after thought purchase) of XPM, where the integration of XPM was not written in to the existing Xero software but bolted on creating unnecessary duplications between Xero and XPM.
This bolt on is the major issue holding Xero software back.
