Hi everyone, we appreciate you taking the time to share how important more flexible payroll permissions are for your teams.
It's clear that having granular control over who can access different parts of payroll would make a real difference to how you manage timesheets and leave approvals, as well as restrict access to other sensitive areas.
From research, Payroll is definitely an area we know needs more permission controls for varying roles. This is something our product teams are beginning to explore and do deeper research of. We'll keep you updated as we make progress, and we're grateful for your continued input.

We appreciate you sharing your ideas regarding timesheets.
We've reviewed your idea and can see that the idea regarding notifications is an existing Xero Product Idea called Notification - Reminder to employee to enter Timesheet. This is currently in review with our product team.
The ability to input weekly hours (rather than daily) has not yet been raised though. The idea is now available to the community to share their support. We'll keep you updated!

Thanks everyone. We appreciate the thinking behind wanting to restrict which earnings rates employees can choose when they fill out a timesheet.
Since this idea was first raised we’ve made a small update - You can now assign earnings rates to employees and these'll appear first in the Xero Me app when an employee enters a timesheet. Just a heads-up that any other earnings rates will still show underneath and can still be selected.
As we continue to develop Xero Payroll in Australia this is something our product team have been keeping a close eye on. We’re planning work that’d let employees select only the earnings types in their Pay Template or the default rate from their employee record.
When this work moves forward I’ll come back here and share an update with you all. 🙂

Hi Sophie ✨, thanks for your feedback on this idea. We're well aware how the generic descriptions in pay run journals can be confusing when they don't align with your specific payroll settings. We understand that you've been using workarounds like exporting reports to Excel and manually editing them to get the detail you need. While this can help in the short term, we recognize it is a time-consuming process that shouldn't be necessary.We've shared your valuable feedback with our product team. As with all new features, we have to balance this against other development priorities. We can't promise a specific timeline, but the more support an idea gets, the higher it climbs on our list. Hi everyone, thanks for your votes and comments on this idea. It’s clear that a simple 'Untick All' option when creating a pay run would save you a lot of time. We understand that manually deselecting employees one by one is time consuming, especially for those who have a large number of employees but only need to process a pay run for a few. We will keep this idea updated as we move through any design and development phases.

In the meantime, we can suggest a possible workaround so that your employees bonus information is held within Xero would be to add this as a Note in each employees Employment record for easy access.
