Hi everyone, thank you for sharing your thoughts and voting on this idea. While we recognise that an import tool for leave requests would be helpful, building a traditional import feature is unlikely to be something we develop in the near future.
However, as we continue to expand and develop AI capabilities across Xero, exploring ways to streamline and automate data entry, like leave requests, is something we may look into down the line.
We appreciate your patience and input here as we work to make Xero smarter and more efficient. We’ll be sure to update this thread if plans progress in this space!

Hi everyone, thank you for sharing your feedback and adding your support to this idea.
Having a clear history trail for edits and approvals in timesheets is valuable for managing payroll accuracy. This is something our product team is aware of, and while it isn’t on our current roadmap, it is something we want to look at in the future.
We appreciate you keeping this top of mind for us. We'll continue to track community votes and comments on this thread and will update you here as soon as anything changes.

Hi team, we appreciate the interest here especially with upcoming Payday Super. I'd like to share that notifications and prompts are being developed with some of the changes we're working on, and achieve what's being asked here.

We've just started using Xero for Payroll, and this feature would be so useful. It is so time consuming to go back to the employee's profile to add or edit leave, particularly for a part sick day.

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback and for sharing your experiences with leave requests for employees who work non-standard hours.
Later this year, we plan to release the first stage of Working Patterns in AU Payroll.
This will allow users to set a one-week work pattern for each employee, which will automatically be used for leave and public holiday calculations in the pay run.
This initial release will establish the foundation for supporting a broader range of working patterns in the future, including more complex or changing schedules.
We’re moving this idea to Accepted while we explore how leave requests could work for these employees. Please continue sharing your specific scenarios, as they’ll help inform how we develop this functionality.

Hi team, as you've noted there isn't a way to select multiple specific leave types in the Leave Balances report.
Right now you could run the report for all leave types, and click the leave type column header to sort the leave types together.
From here if you export to Excel you could then delete the rows of the leave types you don't want, and recalculate the totals such as amount.
Alternatively, you can select one leave type at a time and run the report for each required leave type.
We'll keep a track of the volumes of support this idea receives here and share if there are any updates.

Appreciate organisations have different needs and details that they'd collect from employees. It's great to hear you're making use of self onboarding and we'll get a sense of the wider interest for customising this from the community here.
This isn't something we have plans of at present but will share if there are any updates.

At very least it would great to be able to customise which fields are optional. We're finding that emergency contact details are not being submitted because you have to click on that optional section to enter those details

Thank you for your feedback on this idea. To account for differing regulations and payroll features across regions we’ve split this idea into separate threads for AU, NZ, and UK.
We also wanted to highlight a related feature recently delivered: Payroll admins can now see an estimated leave balance when adding or approving future leave requests. The workflow prompts you if a request might result in a negative balance.
That said, we recognise there is a gap regarding the ability to set hard limits on how far negative a balance can go. While we understand how useful this control would be, setting specific negative leave limits is not on our immediate roadmap.
We’ll continue to monitor interest here and update this post if there is movement.

My workplace has just started using Xero and this is something I found very strange. I was really impressed when I saw the history section in Xero, but it needs to be accurate.
If an employee has entered their own details incorrectly it needs to show that they did it, not me.Jane Walker

Being able to submit the same leave for multiple employees for our Christmas/New Year shut down period would be very helpful. It's very time consuming to do it for each individual employee.
