Thanks so much for sharing this idea and for explaining the need to be able to dispose of large numbers of fixed assets in bulk. 🙂
We’ve opened this up for others making it easier for those in the community with the same need to add their support. In the meantime, grouping similar items into a single asset and using partial disposal may help reduce the number of individual disposals required. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience—we’ll update this idea if its status changes.

Until Xero builds this: RuleMover, a Chrome/Edge extension I make (paid, not affiliated with Xero), is adding bulk disposal. Tick the assets, set the date, accounts and depreciation once (sale prices can come from a spreadsheet), check a preview, and it disposes each asset through Xero's normal dispose screen, with an undo for the whole batch. Ready by 6 November, pre-orders open: rulemover.com/bulk-dispose-xero-fixed-assets/

Update to my comment from 21 Oct: the bulk part is out now, ahead of 6 November. In RuleMover (my Chrome/Edge extension, paid, not affiliated with Xero) you tick the registered assets, set the date, accounts and depreciation once, with a sale price of 0 for write-offs or one per asset from a spreadsheet, and check the preview. It then fills in Xero's own dispose form for each asset. Anything Xero refuses is listed with its reason, and Undo reverses the whole batch. Still no partial disposal, and tested on Xero Australia so far. rulemover.com/bulk-dispose-xero-fixed-assets

For the bulk part of this: I'm adding bulk disposal to RuleMover, a Chrome/Edge extension I make (paid, not affiliated with Xero). You tick the registered assets, set the disposal date, sale price (0 for a write-off, or one price per asset from a spreadsheet), accounts and depreciation once, check a preview, and it runs Xero's own dispose form for each asset. If a batch goes wrong it can undo it with Xero's Undo disposal. It doesn't do partial disposal. Pre-orders are open, ready by 6 November: rulemover.com/bulk-dispose-xero-fixed-assets/

Thanks for everyone’s feedback and detail on how important this feature is for your businesses.
To provide a little more clarity here, it’s currently possible to create a Credit note within an individual awaiting payment invoice or bill. This’ll copy the contents of the invoice/bill into a Draft Credit note where you can edit if needed. To save many users time, once approved the credit is auto applied to the related invoice or bill, but you can remove this if not applicable.
We appreciate this feature is not available for a Paid Invoice or Bill and we understand the importance of this for some organisations.
To help our product teams get a better view of the interest for the feature in Bills and Invoices it would help to track these through separate ideas - I’ll change the title of this idea to reflect Bills and we have an existing idea…

For anyone who can't wait for Xero on this: I built a small Chrome/Edge extension that copies a paid bill into a draft credit note, lines and prices included (not affiliated with Xero). Tick the bills on the Paid tab; the bills themselves aren't changed, and you check and approve the credit notes as usual. Bills only for now, not sales invoices. It runs in your browser, only on Xero's pages. rulemover.com/convert-xero-bill-to-credit-note

Thanks for sharing your idea about expanding this feature to include credit notes (and not create them as bills).
Now it's up to the community to get behind and support your idea. Make sure you share it with any colleagues it could also benefit, so they can add their votes and comments too!
In the meantime, it's possible to bulk import credit notes using a CSV file, but not via this feature.

A tip from the related "turn a draft bill into a credit note" idea: credit notes forwarded to the Documents inbox, rather than the bills inbox, can be made into a credit note from there. For the ones that still land in drafts as bills, I built a small Chrome/Edge extension that converts them in bulk, PDF included (not affiliated with Xero). It runs in your browser, only on Xero's pages. rulemover.com/convert-xero-bill-to-credit-note

For anyone with supplier credit notes stuck in drafts as bills: I built a small Chrome/Edge extension that converts them (not affiliated with Xero). Tick the drafts on the Bills list and each one becomes a draft credit note with the same supplier, lines, date and PDF. The draft bill is only deleted once the credit note is saved, and nothing gets approved. It runs in your browser, only on Xero's pages. rulemover.com/convert-xero-bill-to-credit-note

For anyone who can't wait for Xero on this: I built a small Chrome extension that does it (not affiliated with Xero). You tick the bills on the Bills list, type the project name once, and it goes through each bill and assigns every line to that project using Xero's own assign screen.
It works on draft and awaiting-payment bills, not paid ones or repeating templates. Nothing leaves your browser. rulemover.com/assign-xero-bills-to-projects -

Hi everyone, there’s been plenty of great discussion around this idea, and we get how being able to copy bank rules would take a lot of repetition out of setup work.
It’s something we’d like to make happen, but with other priorities in this space right now hasn't been something we can add to the roadmap yet.
It may come to life as part of the ongoing improvements in the Bank Reconciliation area, and we'll defintiely let you know here if there's any progress.

Update: as well as copying bank rules from one organisation to another, RuleMover (my extension, not affiliated with Xero) can now export rules to a spreadsheet and import them into another organisation. rulemover.com

Got tired of waiting for this, so I'm building a small Chrome extension that copies bank rules from one Xero org to another. It previews the rules, matches accounts, tax rates and tracking categories, then recreates them through Xero's normal rule form. Unofficial and not affiliated with Xero. Founding pre-orders are open, with delivery by mid-December or a full refund: rulemover.com

Hi community, thanks for your responses to our update and the continued interest this idea receives. We're keeping a watchful eye on the support this idea gathers.
As mentioned in my last update our immediate focus for now is delivering more automation and intelligent tools to help you reconcile faster.
However, we understand and appreciate the pain points shared through this idea and will move the status of this to Accepted as our product team look into more details around this and how we might plan this into the roadmap.
I'll keep you updated of any developments in this space.

Update for anyone still waiting on this: RuleMover (a Chrome/Edge extension I make; paid, not affiliated with Xero) can now export a Xero organisation's bank rules to a CSV, one row per rule line with account code and name, tax rate, tracking and conditions, and import a CSV into another organisation, with a preview before anything is saved. So you can keep a library of rules in Excel and load it into new clients. rulemover.com

Quick update: bulk disposal is available now in RuleMover, the Chrome/Edge extension I mentioned on 21 Oct (paid, not affiliated with Xero). No import file needed: tick the assets, set the date, accounts and depreciation once (sale prices can still come from a spreadsheet), check the preview, and it disposes each one through Xero's normal dispose screen.
