Bill Payments - Copy documents attached to a "Bill to Pay" entry into the bill payment transaction.
Currently, documents (invoices) that are attached to a "Bill to Pay" entry do not copy over to the bill payment transaction at reconciliation. You have to go to the (reconciled) account transaction and manually add the same documents again !
I'm told by xero this is because the Bill to Pay and actual bill payment are 2 separate transactions and the "documents" icon and process apply only to the transaction being processed at the time.
This is silly. It is doing the same thing twice - and requires you remember to do it anyway!
I thought automation was designed to…1 voteThanks for sharing this suggestion, Richard.
We appreciate you letting us know about the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea for having documents attached to a bill automatically copy over to the final bill payment transaction. We can see how this would save a lot of time and remove the current double-handling of having to attach the same file again post-reconciliation.

AU Payroll - Leave Accrual - Correct decimal places to stop over accrual.
Xero uses 4 decimal places when calculating leave accruals. As it doesn't use the standard 5 decimal places, like most payroll software, the amount of leave entitlement that you record from this in the liability account in the balance sheet and P&L expense is more than it should be.
But the bigger problem this is causing is the fact that it is actually giving the employee more accrued leave than they are entitled to.
Even though this is a small amount against each payroll, this will build up very quickly over time and as more & more employees are added,…

Chart of Accounts - Click on the padlock icon of a locked account to redirect you to bank rules.
For Advisors only: if a padlock is present on an account of the COA I would like the padlock to go to the bank rules so they can easily be redirected to the new account. For example, we set up Directors Loan accounts for each financial year. Each year we hae to add a new account too the COAs and reroute all of the rules. Painful!
1 voteHey Michele, thanks for your suggestion to make the padlock icon on the Chart of Accounts a direct link to the associated bank rules.
We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that would improve your workflow. We can see how this would be a huge time-saver for Advisors, especially when managing year-end processes like creating new Director's Loan accounts and rerouting the old rules.
We've reviewed your idea, and it's now ready to gain support from other community members. Along with votes, other Advisors can now comment to share more detail about how this feature could make their own account management processes much less painful. 🙂

NZ Payroll - Remove Employer contribution field for employees on Salary Sacrifice
figures can be entered into both fields at the same time. It should not be this way. There is not enough explanation as to how the salary sacrifice options work
2 votesThanks for raising this idea about the setup of Salary Sacrifice in NZ Payroll.
We can certainly see how having both the salary sacrifice and employer contribution fields available for input at the same time could be confusing and potentially lead to errors. Your feedback on making the process and its rules clearer is valuable.

Batch Payments - Keep multiple payments to the same payee as separate lines
Currently when creating batch payment files, multiple bills to the same payee are combined into a single line with only one set of bank payment details (although they appear separate on the batch payment screen in Xero).
Sometimes different bank reference details are needed for each payment, and sending the details in a remittance advice is inappropriate - it would be helpful if the lines could remain separate rather than combined so that unique bank reference details could be added against each line for the same payee

Invoicing from Projects - Sales Account Category and Tax Code
The new invoicing update has significantly slowed down my workflow. Previously, the sales account category and GST were automatically applied to all line items on draft invoices created via Projects add on. Now, I must manually input these details on every line, and I can’t save the draft invoice without doing so. We have very long invoices and this is now causing a lot of extra work. Opening case requests has led to empty promises that the developers are aware and are onto it and so I'm posting here in the hope that Xero might listen to this request for…
1 voteHi there 👋, appreciate you raising this through product ideas in the hopes of getting more attention for this issue.
I've taken a look and can see your communications with our Xero Support team, and that this has been raised directly with our product teams. While I have also shared your feedback directly with product on this, I want to be open that the best method to stay updated will be with our specialists via your case on Xero central. As soon as they have any updates they will share with you. I'll soon remove your post from the ideas forum here.
In the meantime, as they suggested the best solution would be to raise the invoice through Sales and then assign the invoice to your Project.

Reports - Edit spend money transactions from the Transaction Report
Would like a pop out screen to view and edit transactions from the transaction report without having to arrow back to the report after each view/edit. Currently it is extremely time consuming with appx 7 back clicks to return to the report after each individual view/edit.
1 voteThanks for your engagement and for sharing this idea about editing Spend Money transactions directly from the Transaction Report.
We've reviewed your suggestion, and it's now open to gain support from other community members. We can definitely see how having to click back and forth to the report after each edit is a time-consuming process.

Xero Accounting app - Add numerical discount to mobile app invoices
Add numerical discount to invoicing in the mobile app. This is a feature on the browser, currently the mobile app only allows a % discount.
When you go from browser to app having applied a £ discount on the invoice. The app converts it into a % and show different amounts.
3 votesHi team, appreciate your feedback and wanting consistency between the web and mobile functionality.
While I can confirm our product team are aware and across the idea here we want to be honest that we don't have immediate plans for developing the ability to add amount discounts within the Xero Accounting app.
We'll keep tracking the votes and interest through this idea and update you if there's any news to share.

Repeating Bills - Change 'Next bill date' to 'Create bill date'
I have wasted HOURS of my time trying to figure out how to get repeating bills to show up. Would be extremely helpful if instead of "Next Bill Date" you say "create bill date" or "generate bill date" which is what I finally figured out it actually IS. "Next bill date" in this instance is very confusing; it's natural to put in the bill date for the following month.

Projects - Improve the add time workflow for employees with limited access.
For time tracking against projects it would be really useful if employees with limited access could add time in the same way an admin can via a drop down (rather than clicking in to the project first - which is more time-consuming)
0 votesHi Lucy, thanks for your engagement and for highlighting this improvement for the time tracking workflow in Xero Projects.
We've reviewed your idea to allow employees with limited access to add time via a dropdown menu, similar to the admin experience. It's now open to gain support from other community members. We can definitely see how making this process quicker and more direct would be a huge help for team members.
Along with votes, others can now comment to share more details on how this streamlined workflow would improve the time tracking experience for their teams.🙂

AU Payroll - Set Working Days for Part Time Employees
Currently, Xero does not have the feature to assign certain working days for part time employees. This becomes very frustrating when doing payroll.
For instance, an employee works Wednesday to Friday and when a public holidays falls on a Monday, Xero will allocate either all or some of the employees ordinary hours to this date incorrectly. This means we will have to manually adjust it each time.
A simple resolution would be to set up employees to certain working days, then the public holidays would assign correctly and there would be no need to manual adjustments.
