Xero Files - Direct option to download file
Now that you cant attached docuemnts from files to a contact like you used to I have to download them from the files screen, but before I can download them, I have to click on them to preview first. I have to do this for 4 documents right now.
I would love to see the below made available in the files screen:
1. Have download available in the three dot drop down.
2. Have the three dot drop down options available in the preview screen2 votesHi Fiona, hoping you may have seen my recent update that we have now developed the ability to upload files to a contact record from the file library.

Contacts | Merge - show contact merged to
When merging customers xero currently completes the merge and then displays the profile that has been moved which typically (for me) contains no customer data. Is it possible to instead display the profile that the customer has been merged to which shows all the existing customer data. Usually I am completing a merge and then having to go in and search for the customer name again.

Contact Cash Activity Report to show all contacts
Contact Cash Activity Report that shows all contacts and can show both individual transactions or a summary (total).
It would be more efficient than having to select each contact individually

Contacts - Add a Title field for Mr, Mrs, Dr, etc.
Please could you add a Title field into the customers name - my invoices show with just the surname on which is very unprofessional.
ie. Mr Smith on the invoice would look much nicer than just Smith !!! This must be a basic thing to do.?? Please consider this as urgent.2 votes -

On the Xero App - Please add a field where you can add a client's VAT number on the App (not as a note or reference or description) but as a separate field in the same way you would add it on internet sign in

New Invoices Issue - New Contact search address by postcode
As the new invoicing is no longer optional. I believe this issue must be addressed for all customers in the United Kingdom.
When adding a new contact upon invoice creation, allow us to search for the address via postcode like we used to. This could be achieved by postcode search ABOVE Billing Address, then auto-populate the billing address based on the input post code.
Note there were many issues with the search results which must also be addressed (See: https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/46289185-contacts-improve-uk-postcode-lookup)
OR alternatively allow us to simply input the full address as one line and YOU automatically digest it and…

Billable expenses - Visible on Contact and dashboard widget
At the moment, there are two places you can find out if there are billable expenses outstanding for a Contact: at the bottom of the Sales Overview, and in one report.
A total should be visible in the header of Contacts that have had billable expenses assigned to them (including if there's Projects assigned to that Contact with uninvoiced expenses).
There should also be a widget for the dashboard similar to the section at the bottom of the Sales Overview.
These will make it easier to remember to on-bill expenses in a timely fashion.

Contacts - Quick-add option for ABN in invoice entry
When creating a new invoice, you currently have the ability to add some of the details of a new contact to whom you are sending the invoice, when you are creating that invoice. For details not in this quick-add box, you have to open the newly created contact and edit the details, a rather more lengthy process.
I'd like to be able to add the ABN when quick-adding a customer, so I can quickly ensure that the tax invoice fulfils all the ATO requirements for an invoice worth >$1000.

Contacts - Change the name for the Customers contact group to Clients
Right now you have to add a group to see clients together, but I'm hoping that one day we can simply change the category name of "Customers" to "Clients" to customize Xero for legal, insurance, marketing and many allied health practitioners who see clients.

User roles - Restrict Users from updating contact details
Restrict users from updating contact details. updating contact details, address and attention field, updates all invoices/bills previously posted for the contact. Not all users should be able to do this function.

To be able to add more than 5 email addresses in a client so that you can email the invoice out to more that 5 people at a time.

Contacts - Integrate with details registered on the Companies office
Part 1: Integrate with Companies office NZ (or similar) so that when I enter the name of a new contact it looks for the details of the company published on the companies office / NZBN. This could reduce data entry and validate that the name entered is a real company, accepting it wouldn't cover other entities.
Part 2: When a company status changes (e.g. goes into liquidation) you could show Xero users a warning, could do the same for company name & address changes etc..

Smart Lists - Add "Country" filtering option
Currently, when filtering smart lists by location you can only add [city, state] tags. It would be nicer to be able to just add country tags, to sort / view contacts by country as opposed to by city.
This would also allow new contacts in that country to automatically be added to the list, vs needing to handle this manually.

Contacts - Search/autocomplete for international addresses
When adding or editing a contact, I always enter their address.
Xero has this great feature that allows searching for addresses, and that's wonderful!
...except it's arbitrarily limited to only search addresses in the country the Xero org is registered in; a US Xero org only offers autocompletion for US addresses, for example.
In this modern, international, remote-friendly age, the notion of only having domestic clients is a little silly– especially when paying for a Xero tier that supports multiple currencies.
So: being able to search/autocomplete international addresses when editing or adding contacts would be a great addition.

Ability to cc and bcc when sending emails from xero.
This would be very useful as we have many clients that like to have various other people copied in.

Contacts - Recognise a customer code aswell as the name
Recognize a customer code as well as the name. This makes the name unique and no need for adding special characters to make a name different.

API - Update all Contact fields via the API
During the creation process, we should be allowed to update all fields necessary on the Contact record.
Example I have at the moment is one of my customers needs to set their clients details within Xero so they can invoice them correctly. At the moment we can't use the API to set the Website field.
