Email Templates - Create your own custom placeholders
Create your own placeholders for email templates - For example, I want to create a new placeholder for the previous month.
Hi Kirsty, having looped in with the team this placeholder is not something that has been developed in new invoicing and isn't on the immediate plans at present.
For the time being, you'll be able to use the shortcut shared in classic invoicing. We'll re-open the idea to continue building traction in this here and I'll update you if there is any progress surrounding placeholders that'd help here.

In our company, we like to ensure that invoices emailed to customers are personally signed by the person who sends them, rather than a generic āKind regards, Company Name.ā
At the moment, this requires manually typing the senderās name every time we email an invoice, which is inefficient and prone to inconsistency.
It would be very helpful to have the option to include a placeholder for the logged-in userās name within the invoice email templates.
Just as we can currently insert placeholders for customer details (e.g. customer name, invoice number, amount), we should be able to include something like [User Name] or [Logged-in User] in the email signature.
This would automatically pull the name of the user who is logged in and sending the invoice, creating a more personal and accurate sign-off, for example:
Kind regards,
[User Name]This feature would be especially valuable for businesses with multiple staff members sending invoices under the same company account, improving professionalism and consistency.
Thanks,
Joana -

The current placeholders are limiting. Either the ability to create a custom placeholder or the ability to select from a wider range eg. using information already on the invoice template such as an actual due/invoice date (not just month/year). This would help in creating repeating monthly/yearly invoices with a "period from/to" in descriptions.

Not having the placeholders in new invoicing and not having it planned is ridiculous

A number of our customers have outstanding invoices that are overdue by one or two months.
I'd like to send a mass email to these customers, attaching their Statements of Account (SOAs) and indicating the total amount owed for the past two months.
It would be helpful if we could use placeholders in the email to dynamically display the total outstanding amount based on the Aged Receivables Summary report.
Example:
[2 months Outstanding Statement Balance]
OR [1 months Outstanding Statement Balance]
OR [3 months Outstanding Statement Balance]Additionally, we should be able to format the email by bolding and highlighting specific words.

Custom placeholders in both the invoice and email templates would be a incredibly worthwhile feature to add. We're a digital marketing company and use several programs with this feature and it greatly increases efficiency and saves time, particularly when used in conjunction with custom fields.

You can! By using [month-1] . Just use the month placeholder and type the -1 yourself! I use it all the time!
