  1. The longer I use Xero the more supplier invoices it stores.
    When I use the recent bills report it takes so long to go back to the beginning 2015 in my case before it allows you to put in a date search.
    It would be great if we could have a function to archive old supplier and customer invoices- not losing them altogether but just in the background to be viewed if needed.

  2. I have a client who is wanting to set up a vendor and queried about the ability to send a form to the potential vendor with information required directly from Xero
    Unfortunately this is not an option at this time but I am wondering if this is something other businesses would use and how helpful this would be

  4. It would be handy to be able to customize the view screen on the contacts screen within Xero. Ie add additional columns - a payment column? It would be a lot easier to have a visual of payments received rather than having to click on the invoice or run a statement against the client to see when payment was last received / paid. It would also be handy to have an item column that includes payments. As well as an option to reconfigure the column order, Ie. Date in first column.

  5. When you go into a contact, you can see items that are outstanding and what has been paid, but it would be good if there was the 'pdf' icon against the transaction in this screen rather than having to view the item to see the document.

  6. Contacts. I would like to say the upgraded version of contacts is clunky, and would prefer the older system over this 'new upgraded' system. Having to 'save and exit' before adding all other contact details is adding more steps to an otherwise simple process. Thanks

    Hi Vashte, appreciate change can take a little getting used to.

    However, we can help you out here! While the Save and exit is always available when adding or editing a contact you can simply click through each section. 

    The detail you enter between section will hold until you leave the page - So, you can enter in all your details before selecting Save and exit. 

  7. Customers are constantly baffled why my phone doesn't recognise their number. It's quite a drag to explain that although their number is in my phone (xero contacts), caller id is not able to access the information. I understand there's some way to sync google contacts with a premium subscription, but surely in 2022 this should be a basic feature.

  8. Please can Xero consider adding a Customer Statement option that shows payments as totals (not splits per invoice allocation) as found on the bank statement.

    Many businesses have customer accounts that are paid towards or caught up regularly in round bulk amounts that do not neatly match individual invoices.
    In these cases customers getting statements showing their payments as splits cannot easily or intuitively see the amounts that they paid on specific dates.

    Hi Jessica, it'd take some customisation of the Statement advanced docx. template but it is possible to remove fields from showing that may cause confusion or are unnecessary for your customers. 

    You could look at removing the 'PaidAmount' field if this is not required and just keep the 'Balance' and 'Amount' fields. 

    There's a discussion over in Xero Central where there are others in community who often help with making changes ti advanced templates and maybe of help here. 

  9. Could there please be a facility to post journals between contacts (either supplier or customer) for example between BT Telecom and EDF energy
    Currently there is only the facility to post journals between nominal ledger codes.

    Hi Julie, could you explain a little more the scenarios in which you'd be looking to make use of a this sort of functionality?

    At present - if the transactions has originally be assigned to the wrong contact this can be edited. 

    Understanding more of the use case may help us find another solution for you here, although I don't want to be open that we don't have plans for enabling transfers between contacts. 

  10. In our old system, before we moved to Xero, we could highlight special clients (they were a different colour). In our case, they were special because they paid their account off in instalments, instead of paying a lump sum. This made it very easy for us to separate them when we sent invoice reminders to the rest of our clients. How we have to do it in Xero now is clunky and manual. :)

  12. The ISO 3166 country name for "United Kingdom" is "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the)", which is 58 characters. We are currently unable to use this name for our contacts as Xero throws an error (both in the UI and API).

    Please consider increasing the country name maximum length to at least 60 characters.

  13. Please consider adding a field to the contact, to show how payment is made (BACS, DD, Proforma, Credit Card etc). This would avoid paying a supplier bill via BACS when there is already a DD arrangement set up. Likewise, for customers we can turn off statements for DD payers. You could show this on the summary screen and make it a selection field when running aged debt/credit reports.

  14. To be add the job title of a primary person and additional person in a contact details.
    Xero is not a CRM but to manage the invoicing and bills relationship with contact, it could be great to know the position of the person on the other side.
    It could be a great add-on as to know to whom we are addressing our email in the contact company.

  16. XERO Projects, Could contact details i.e email addresses and phone number be assigned to a specific project, these would normally be different from the original company contacts details. This would mean the right persons would receive the invoices or quotes sent from a particular XERO project. Could this be done within the project tab.

  17. It would save us so much time if there was an option to turn off debtor statements per contact just like we have the option to turn off invoice reminders. That way when sending statements we can bulk send without having to send them one at a time.

    Interesting idea - we'll continue tracking interest here. 🙂 In the meantime I did want to highlight how you can send multiple statements at once and may help some here. 


    While it's not possible to set a default for each contact, you can currently send statements to multiple users at once - 

    From your Contact lists either select all, or just the contacts you'd like, select the 3 menu dots in the top right of the page where you'll see an option to 'Send statements'.

    • When clicked this will take you to the statements screen where you can further refine the lists of contacts you'd like to send a statement too
  18. We use another software programme which exports all our customer details and invoices etc into Xero automatically. The other programme uses Google to create addresses. A lot of the addresses include te reo, so include macrons. When the text is imported into Xero the macrons cause non-recognition of the characters, so we end up with a mess.
    Surely in this modern world, Xero, an Aotearoa, New Zealand, developed programme, can be made to recognise our indigenous (Official) language, and allow correct te reo spellings.
    This is 2022 not 1922, please allow us to get this basic NZ requirement correct. Xero…

    Hi Karin, would it be possible to get a few more examples of names that you've tried to import and not have show with macrons? 

    One of our team have tested creating a contact via import with the name Whakatāne (/mækrn, me-/) and this created a contact in Xero as shown in this image. 

    It'd be great to better understand and see if we can look into this a bit more. 

  19. Since the new contact layout was introduced, you cannot save an attention name without there being an address in the address field. Sometimes we do have a company name, contact name and no address.

It would be great to have the ability to copy a contact in order to create a new one We often have the same agent representing various clients, and creating a new contact for each one is cumbersome. The option to copy an existing contact (making changes to the name or account number but keeping the address, bank details etc) would be extremely useful.
