Bank Rules - Option for prepayments
There are often periodic top up payments for accounts (e.g. Tolls) and a periodic statement provided after the fact.
It would be useful to be able to set up a bank rule to apply these and reconcile the prepayments as the statements come in.

Chart of Accounts - Assign a Tracking category
Automatically assign a tracking category to a chart of account code, so when costs are billed against the account code, it also automatically assigns those costs to a default tracking category

Bank | Reconcile period - Ability to delete draft period
Thanks for adding this feature. I'm trying it and I noticed that if you copy and paste a value with a $ in it, it will not paste properly. Sometimes when you copy paste opening or closing balances from PDF it copies including the dollar sign.
Please allow to paste the value with the $ in it.
Also, there doesnt seem to be any way of deleting a draft period. Please consider adding a small garbage bin icon in the period list and inside the period.
Thanks!
7 votesAppreciate your feedback, Alvaro. I know you originally shared your comment on this idea however I've just turned your comment into a new idea, so we can separately gauge interest in being able to delete a draft period. We're staying close to the feedback we're receiving so we'll share if there's any plans made around this with you here.

MFA - Move cursor to code field automatically
When I login to Xero, I enter my email address and password and am taken to the second page (MFA).
I'm then asked for the authenticator code, but I have to click into the field to enter the code.
Xero knows that there is an almost 100% likelihood that the first (and only) thing I am going to do on that page is enter the MFA code.
Xero should automatically have the cursor in that field so that I can type the code without clicking into the field.

New invoicing: Remove / turn off online payments option
I would like the option to remove the 'set up online payments' box whenever I create a new invoice. For companies like ours who are never going to use this function, it's irrelevant and takes up unnecessary space (we use invoice finance and our clients don't pay us directly). Could there be a toggle button in the settings to be able to switch this off?

Xero - Backup data file
Under all the new rules and regulations set down by the Tax Practitioners Board, it is a requirement to keep a backup copy of the data file. We do not want to start a new Xero file from a backup - that is not logical. We need the ability to click on a button and run a backup to comply with the new rules. Using another app is also not a solution. It must be built in the the Xero program that we can use as bookkeepers. This is an essential feature if we are to comply and do regular…

Invoicing - Remove credit card logos from invoice PDF
For businesses that only leverage ACH bank transfers as a form of payment, allow users the ability to remove all credit card logos from the invoice. It's not currently possible to remove the Visa and Mastercard logos from your invoices, when using Stripe as a payment service.

Manual Journals - Ability to post journal entries to bank/cash accounts
Remove the limitation on posting manual journal entries to bank/cash accounts. I end up spending way too much time on manual workarounds (payroll entries for example, you have to use a "bill" to replace the functionality of a journal entry). It ends up taking way more time working around the limitation than its worth. As a new user of Xero, I'm incredulous. I've worked with multiple accounting software platforms over the years, and never been exposed to such a massive limitation like this. It's almost a dealbreaker, and for some clients it certainly is. I've been looking for a viable…
98 votesThanks for the added detail, everyone. It's good to be able to share this detail back with our teams.
Appreciate why Bank Rules won't help for cash accounts and where you don't have a bank feed coming into the account.
Being open, this isn't something we have plans for changing in the short-term. We'll leave the idea open for our product team to continue considering how we could improve efficiency in some of the situations you've described. If there are any updates we'll share this with you all here.

Bills - Add 'Upload bills' to Dashboard.
Add the 'Upload bills' feature as a widget on the Dashboard, for convenience.
At present you have to navigate to 'Bills to pay', then from the 'New bill' dropdown, select 'Upload bills'. It's a great time saving feature, but seems tucked away, and would be great if right from the dashboard I could just drop bills, and invoices, ready to process later.9 votes -
New Invoicing | Send - Copy & paste multiple emails into the To field
When sending a new invoice to a client with multiple contacts, I find the most recent invoice relevant to the current project and copy the email details from the History and Notes entry for the action Invoice Sent.
If there is more than one email address, the old invoicing used to recognise that a comma separated the email addresses. I could paste that into the 'To' box without issue.
BUT IN THE NEW INVOICING, I get an error message when pasting multiple emails into the 'To' box: "One or more email addresses are invalid."
This means that I have to…17 votes -
GST Reconciliation Report - Save the filed amounts entries
AU There was a discrepancy between GST ac balance at EOQ on the Balance Sheet & the GST refund for the end of quarter BAS. Using the GST Reconciliation report would be a lot more helpful if the Filed Amounts could actually be saved and continuously show the correct unfiled running balance amount and the section "GST Account Summary " for unfiled GST was actually correct as a cumulative balance. I just did 3.5 years worth of GST Reconciliations and nothing saved so all the running balances are wrong and don't flow correctly from one year to the next -…

New Invoicing - Edit item code without changing Description, qty or price
When copying an invoice, we need to be able to copy and paste in the item code without it deleting all of the description, qty and cost.
You can do this in classic invoicing, but when you do it in the updated invoicing it removes all the data on the line.9 votes -
Dashboard - Edit dashboard layout
Dashboard- It would be great if Xero gave us more options to edit out Dashboards. Two colums are not enough, at the most I get to see four accounts before I have to scroll, they needn't be so large either. If they had three colums, and we could shrink the size of the 'boxes' then we could easily see a better snapshot of work to do and where the business is at.

Invoicing - Allow blank lines to make groups of invoice lines
It would be great to be able to group certain lines of an invoice together (for example by adding some spacing between groups), to make long invoices more readable and logically coherent.
It used to be possible to add spacing on the Classic invoicing page by pressing Enter a few times on the description field, but this no longer works on the New invoicing.
85 votesHi team, thanks for sharing detail of the value in this idea in the ways you invoice.
We've just released a new line item grid in invoicing which includes the ability to manually add blank rows and shift these to where you're like them placed in your invoice.
That said, I want to be transparent in how this works - When you save your invoice any blank lines will be removed. So, if you'd like blank lines to help break your invoice into sections, you'll need to enter a character in the Description field of the blank line. Even a full stop '.' or dash '-' would suffice.

Invoicing - Update contact with email used when sending
Under the old invoicing, when an invoice was emailed to a client for the first time, the email address used for that first invoice automatically populated the Contact card's email address at the time the invoice was sent.
This meant that if the invoice was unpaid, the reminder would be able to go to the same person who received the invoice.
However the new invoicing doesn't automatically populate the Contact's email address.
This means an extra step is needed to ensure the Contact card is updated.
If this step isn't taken, then the automated reminders don't go out.
Automation is…4 votesHi Jo, interesting one here as some users would like the contact to be update but also others that wouldn't. It'll be good to get a sense of users that would like to see the contact record updated with the email used when sending from your idea here.
No plans to change this behaviour at present but we'll share if there's any news.

Organisation settings - Change base currency
It is remarkably convoluted to change the base currency even when no transactions have been posted. It only seems to be possible by cancelling the subscription and starting again. I rely on clients purchasing the software and it is not unknown for them to enter an incorrect base currency. I have used other systems where changing the base currency is very quick and easy. I suggest you make this a little easier.
