Invoices - Add subtotals
Ability to add subtotals in the invoices.
Purpose: Because some clients are questioning and would like to see more details, and having subtotals can satisfy their needs & wants.
Hi all - thanks for taking the time to provide your votes and commentary on the idea to enable subtotals in invoices. We appreciate how this would make invoicing easier and enable you to provide a clear breakdown on invoices.
As you can imagine with a global product, the variety of ideas we receive is expansive and so the product team focuses on building features that will meet most people’s needs. In the interest of transparency at this stage this idea is not currently planned. However we’re still open to receiving feedback and votes. It could always be reconsidered at a later date.
In the meantime it’s worth highlighting (as a few have mentioned already) a workaround is to generate an invoice as a PDF and then edit the PDF externally. Alternatively our Xero App Store has many invoicing providers who may do this. You can browse the invoice providers here.
We’ll be sure to update you here if there’s any more news on this suggestion.

This has been going on a long time, you'd think we're asking to reinvent the wheel

This would make my life as an accountant SO MUCH EASIER please Xero I'm sick of hearing how Quikbooks can do it!!

There's already enough reason to add this functionality based on the posted comments. I will chime in only to join the many for all the same reasons. Our clients will be happy which makes us happy and happy means we stick with your product.

Subtotals are a must with our invoices as we need to differentiate the labour and parts components for each invoices as per customer requests, not being able to do this is frustrating

Subtotalling section of invoices is a must with NDIS services, they will not pay the invoices without it being in the format they want.
This means my client can not invoice his clients and will not be paid. If sad to see MYOB and QuickBooks both have this facility but Xero hasn't -

Please add this feature!

Cannot believe that Xero is missing the simplest but critical things required. Trying to push a product where one size fits all is going to hurt their model. Going to MYOB account right if not fixed soon.

You know -- subtotals. You'd have to write some kind of crazy algorithm to "add up" the lines above the subtotal. I hear they have this kind of technology at Tesla.

Our customers like to see subtotals for each product set so this is very important as they split it out to different business units. Please include this on next update.

We also like to be able to subtotal sections in xero invoices like we did in myob. It is extremely useful for contracts and different categories relating to expenses, material costs , p and g, etc . Hopefully soon.

We require subtotals for different product categories, like a labour subtotal, parts subtotal, etc. Thank you!

Aside from subtotals (which we require so that the upgrades are a separate pricing total). I would also like to be able to setup Progress Payments - the system only currently allows 1 deposit per invoice - I'd like 1 invoice, 4 Progress Payments.

Subtotals are an essential. If I commence an engagement based on a quote or estimate and the client expands the scope of the work, it is critical to be able to show that the work for which I was originally engaged is on budget and then show the additional work.
I don't understand why Xero doesn't already have this feature. I also find it difficult to understand why so many web-based platforms that grow and increase their functionality based on customer ideas do not implement changes faster.
We, the customers, basically tell you how to improve your product for nothing, so I'd like something back for my monthly subscription fee thanks.

Why wouldn't you have this feature in Xero already??
