Files - Bulk export/print attached files
Ability to export and print files from Xero in bulk.
Purpose: To have backup files and audit purposes.

Thanks for your expressions and feedback in a bulk download or print facility for Files (either from the Files library or at an individual transaction level)
We know that bulk operations can be handy, however at this time we have no plans to develop this functionality. We know it might seem like a small feat, however often even small change is more tightly woven and intricate to solve beneath the surface.
While we understand this must be frustrating to hear, we’re currently focused on making improvements in other areas of Xero and are unable to prioritise a bulk download or print feature right now.
However, in situations like these there are often connected apps through the Xero App Store that may be able to assist. We appreciate and will revise solutions that could fulfil needs in this space, but want to be honest this isn’t something we have plans for right now.

Clearly Xero have prevented this function from being available to make it frustratingly difficult to leave them. I'm only wanting to move from one Xero account to another but without this function it makes the process a long winded awful experience.

Considering Taxpayers requirements to keep files for 5 years then clients effectively loose all docs on close of their files. If XERO cant provide the bulk ability to down load attached docs in a meaning full manner then they need to provide the XERO file in read only file for 5 years past the date of stopping the file

Latest response received from "Xero Support" in repsonse to an email to CEO.xero.com
Xero not interested in this feature
Hi Jeff
Thank you for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to see your feelings on this feature not yet being available. As you have seen, we don't currently have an option to export all files and attachments from Xero in a single operation. I can absolutely see how this would be beneficial and, if not already done, I would highly encourage you to vote and contribute to the discussion on our Product Ideas forum.
Our Product Ideas page is the best place to express opinions and vote for suggested features. While this isn't the only deciding factor, the popularity of discussions is a major contributing factor to our Product Team's decisions around the future development of Xero - and more popular ideas will heavily influence the decision making around future updates.
At current, we don't have any immediate plans to develop this feature as our Product Team are currently prioritising the development of other areas of Xero. I appreciate this may be disappointing and frustrating to hear.
In the meantime, should you wish to use this functionality, you may find this is available through one of the app partners on our app marketplace.
I've included a link to an article for more information on linking and and connecting apps to your Xero organisation.
Xero Central article: Using connected apps with Xero
Kind regards
Jason

Bulk download is a critical requirement for any auditing or HMRC request. If we decide to migrate to a different service, we would have to pay an individual to literally download over 5 years worth of individual receipts from all our staff members.
Absolutely crazy that this is not a function available.

some clients insist on this evidence. Do I have to pay an admin staff member to search through and download every single receipt attached to Xero Me expense claims? Seems odd to pay for that service then not receive basic access and outputs.

option to bulk export files attached to bills/invoices from Xero. If business ceases invoices are required to be available to HMRC for 7 Years. Would make sense to be able to store and access in bulk.

I agree. As it is available is certain regions, it sounds like a money grab by Xero to keep you paying for a subscription after you have finished using it. The trouble is, it affects people who need to download files for other reasons. I now have to go through Hubdoc (part of Xero) which can automatically save the picture to an online storage (i.e.Dropbox, Box, etc) but the invoice entry interface is not as good as Xero itself which often leads me to editing invoices in Xero after putting them through Hubdoc. Given the price paid, you would not expect to be trapped this way.

This is ridiculous. I'm migrating over to another Xero account, to open my Ltd Company account and close my Sole Trade account, and I've just discovered there's no way to export my files. I find this totally unacceptable.

I find this answer totally ludicrous. I am still figuring out what I need in xero and have loaded all my receipts and now find I need to pull some out as they are not relevant but I still need my copies.
How can it be that you are not exploring this functionality.

Xero Files uploaded - I would like to suggest to have a bulk download/ Download all selection instead of downloading it one by one as of now. I strongly recommend if Xero team can add another bulk download function.
It can helps speeding up and save time.
Thank you !

I need this functionality for the local authorities. All expense claims incl. pictures have to be saved locally.

Hi I used xport my data in UK and it worked fine for £100

Xero is not fit for purpose without this basic audit feature which is required for tax authorities. Your competitors all provide this, and everyone will migrate away over time unless you solve it.

It looks like this only works in Aust/NZ, not the rest of the world

I confim, I have used https://www.xportmydata.com too and it works well. Only downside is that it doesn't download a PDF copy of the sales invoices and sales credit notes, we had to download them manually one by one. A crazy task indeed. Xportmydata have said that they're working on implementing this feature.

If you need a single bulk download I would recommend you use Xportmydata (https://www.xportmydata.com). It will cost you $100 to download all your files. I have looked into this extensively and it is the best option out there.

Hello, I am planning to cancel my subscription with Xero and I have 2630 files attached on Xero that I uploaded over the years. I did not keep the original copies as I believed it was safe to keep it with Xero only.
Can someone please tell me how to download this files from Xero? IRD require to keep records for 7 years. Will I need to pay subscription for the next 7 years only to keep the attached files ???? Please help !!!!

Here's a screenshot of what downloading each. Individual. File. Separately. looks like right now when using Xero in Chrome. As you can see, the list of downloaded files in the browser covers the navigation buttons, rendering this unnavigable.
Unless you have the time to wait for the dropdown to time-out, which when I'm downloading timesheets for payroll (since holding on to timesheets is required by law, and they can't be attached to pays) I very much do NOT have that time!

The German Tax authority (Finanzampt) wants all my receipts and invoices, physically printed out, in date order, along with a spread sheet breakdown, in matching order and are surprised my accountant and software can't provide this. They've recommended I switch accounting packages. After having manually having had to export over 600 digital receipts, I agree, one should not need to do this manually transaction by transaction.

Kelly Munro,
Can you at least add in the function that all files are attached to individual transactions be directed to your files library? It seems unusual that the files library is so restricted and these are not automatically populated there.
This seems like this should be a standard feature of Xero, not one we have to purchase from the Xero App Store. How does Xero control the security of these apps to download such sensitive information? One would think they would take this with more urgency to address.
