Account Transactions: Receipts - Send automated 'payment received' e-mail when payment is reconciled
Ability to send an automated 'Payment received with thanks' email to the customer
Purpose: To give a professional image to users’ customers/clients, and save time in a current manual process
Hi all, appreciate and understand the support in being able to automate processes such as communication of payment received with a customer.
Though seemingly simple there are a few complexities that'd need to be accommodated for when considering the solution here - such as behaviour for re-reconciliations (Remove & redo has been used), split transactions or Mark as reconciled is used.
Our product teams in this area are working on building on beautiful experiences throughout Bank Reconciliation, which you'd have have experienced this first with the Reconcile tab and they are now moving through other pages and features in Bank Rec - This'll take some time and with that at the fore-front right now we want to be upfront that we don't have immediate plans to add an automated email when a transaction line is reconciled.
As we embark work on the Account Transactions tab we'll be able to revisit and review ideas for some improvement, and will keep you updated of any change.

This appears to be another basic feature that is requested by Xero users the Xero team ignores, raised 8 years ago and no action. The complexities mentioned by Xero are easily resolved, and even if they are not from a technical perspective just adding an email receipt on reconcile option tick box would be a workaround that would stop the frustration by users.
For Xero users maybe voting with your feet my get better results.

Couldn't we just at least have a button on the bank rec screen to send receipt if & when we want to send - that way not fully automated yet?

I was working on accounts systems twenty years ago that sent automated receipts. Seemed to work then!
Also, when will we get the stop function in Xero? I've been asking for 6 years.

I think there have been suggestions provided that do help with some of those hurdles. A tick box as a global setting or at the time of reconciliation is always a good idea otherwise it may be worthwhile having a send receipt button on reconciliation and having them automatically sent out at 1am the next morning. Having both the manual control on the reconciliation and a global setting for automation would benefit all (Opt in of course). The majority of other providers have it so understandably, I'm sure most users do see this as the bare minimum for software that is designed to handle finances at its core.

A very poor response from Xero, many years after this feature was requested. I'd hold off on the idea of beautiful experiences, and focus instead on basic functionality. I'm not holding my breath though.

Would love a "CREATE RECEIPT" TICK BOX in the RECONCILIATION box on the reconcile page:
Match - Create - Transfer - Discuss - "CREATE RECEIPT" TICKBOX
It could also be a "SEND REMITTANCE" tickbox in the case of payments

it would also be EXCEEDINGLY helpful to receive a system (staff)-facing notification or email alert when a payment is received!
