I agree this is very important,. please implement ASAP. It cant be a difficult thing to do either!!

We have many length-oriented inventory items that are otherwise identical.

It would be so handy to be able to duplicate an inventory item, so as to be able to assign a new part number and a minor change to the description and price.

e.g. - A existing 200mm widget with all its prefilled descriptions for sale and purchase is much easier to edit to make a 300mm widget than starting from scratch each time, and trying to ensure that the similar parts match exactly so they look neat on a PO or invoice.

saving time and helping with consistancy.

Commenting to keep this active. We have multiple tiers for the same item, so it would save a lot of time to edit an existing item (as we can do in invoices), and just change the pertinent information, instead of retyping every field every single time.

It's 2023 and we still cannot copy/duplicate a Product/Service Item then edit and save the copy.

This would save time and ensure consistency in the format of details on each item.

I've seen posts on this from early 2010's when I went searching on how to achieve this (what I thought was) pretty simple request... come on xero, pick up your game already!!

100% - it should be a standard feature, like every other software.

This is the reason I have just come on this section of the website for. Having the ability to copy a product and then amend certain details would be so much quicker.

Really needed for 1/time saving and 2/error reduction.

I am curious that it is not available as untracked items are used every day to avoid data entry errors. Indeed it was suggested to me years ago by a Xero support person. Great idea.

Creating a new product by duplicating an existing product would make this job quicker and easier and avoid simple mistakes by repeating the process over and over

Yes ability to create a new product by duplicating an existing product would be an excellent time saving and would ensure consistency in naming conventions etc.

just want to create a related product to one that has almost all its details??? why is this hard?

It;s one of the most time consuming jobs that I have. I have so many products that are similar but have to input each one individually rather than being able to copy one and change one or two letters.
Can this feature please be implemented. I seem to remember that you did have this feature in the very early days but then removed it unfortunately

The ability to duplicate a Product or Service would be a nice feature for wineries, with new SKUs every year with vintage changes.

Shall we put this in the same basket as Wine Equalisation Tax support...

Would like to have the ability in Items to copy the Item so when there is variations we don't need to type out a whole new item, just copy and amend teh minor variation.
