Billable Expenses - Show Bills that have and haven't been assigned as billable expenses
To have a list that shows bills that have and haven’t been assigned to billable expenses.
Purpose: Users can easily identify which bills that have and haven’t been assigned to billable expenses.

The response time for a new report filter is certainly disappointing.

I need this report - Come on Xero - I am sure this would be useful to all users.

So how many years and votes does it take to get action?

I agree this would be a helpful feature. At the very least, could we have a filter option on the Account Transaction report that can say whether an item is marked as billable or not? I can drill into the transaction to see then who it's billable to. I have a client that uses billable expenses and it would be much more useful if you could see what isn't marked as billable rather then billable expenses outstanding.

Hi. This feature was released in NZ the last couple of month - but only for assigning to Projects, not assigning to Contacts. But still, that's a massive improvement. So now under the extra options dots you can have a view of bills to only show those that have not been assigned to a Xero Project.

This option would help to save time on a lot of manual checks.

The option available isn't currently working. This would help to save time on a lot of manual checks.

Re Brenda's post 06/06/23, this isn't available in UK - it would be so easy to add a column to the payable invoice summary report showing who billed to or not billed. It's a major area of financial risk. Can lose thousands if someone forget to assign to customer and no means of checking.

For others looking for a solution here, I have managed to find a work around using a Xero workaround called FlexReporting.
This add-on accesses the underlying Xero data and will highlight any transactions that are not matched. It is fairly rough and ready, but it works for me.

Unfortunately it's not been implemented. Although there may be a way of using Project as a work around:
Thank you for contacting Xero Support!
We had a look from our end and can see that this idea hasn't been implemented yet. The idea this person is mentioning is related to Projects which is another product the Xero offers.

Can't confirm for Canada but I'm UK and definitely not seeing it.
Furthermore I'd be happier if it (also) showed in the Account Transactions page for an account, this is where I work more than the bills view. It is easy to see that each line has or hasn't a file attached, to see it has or hasn't been assigned to a client would be a big help (and I assume little different in implementation to getting it on the billing page too).

Can anyone confirm if this function is live for Canada? I don't see this.

This has been added for those that use Projects. If you go to Bills page, click on the 3 dots beside New Bill, there is a new option to View bills not assigned to projects. You add the dates and all bills come up that are not assigned

Has this been added? I can't find mention of it.

This has now been added. Fabulous

This would be very valuable to ensure all costs are assigned to the customer - as mentioned below, at the moment it is a manual, time consuming process to check.

A simple additional column in the bills to pay page showing whether it has or has not been assigned to a customer would save hours of having to log into each individual bill to check, and also minimise missed revenue when bills go unassigned.

I want to be able to view ALL bills paid or unpaid that have been allocated to a customer. We pay our bills on the 20th of each month but our jobs can be invoices way after that, so bills can be missed when it comes to invoicing as if I have paid them they wont show on my billable expenses report. Many thanks Carol

A lot of hours are wasted matching up the detailed transaction report to the billable expense report and the chance for error is high. Each "miss" is a direct loss for the billable expense. At some point, we need to start looking for other solutions.
