Hi everyone, thank you for all your valuable insights of how we could improve Xero inventory to suit your business.
Atm, we don't have direct plans for providing capability to track assembly inventory within Xero, however our product team are doing some early testing of concepts for being able to bundle inventory in Xero.
Quite related to your interests here, we wanted to provide you the opportunity to be a part of this,
If you'd be interested in giving some time to share back with our team on their concepts please answer a few questions through our form here.✍️
This will be a limited pool, however we'll be back to share outcomes of this work with you all here.

commentedI have my own trophy shop that I run on the side. I'm just moving over from MYOB to Xero and need to be able to have a way of adding tracked items to another item during a sale.
Even if it doesn't have the ability to generate a BOM as that would also require a jobs module, but I'd like to be able to combine 2 or more items used to prooduce a final item.
At the very least, being able to add sub-items in the invoicing screen that don't need to appear on the invoice, but at least reflect them as being taken out of stock.
The only way to do this would be through a 3rd party app, but this just adds to the cost of the software.
The reason for moving to Xero in the first place was due to its ability to integrate with many more apps then MYOB, but the simplicity of the software and the dependance on 3rd party apps isn't reflected in the price of Xero. This is me questioning if a move to Xero is actually really worth the time and effort.
It is also so much slower to call up items in the inventory, but that's another issue i'm dealing with.

commentedAllow "recurring transactions" like in Myob where those users can set a "job" code to a recurring transactions of multiple lines.. allow for a job eg. Service Vehicle. in one code. for several repeating items 1. -- labour
 2. -- materials
 3. -- epa

commentedI have two businesses. In one I just have regular inventory and Xero works fine for that. In the other I combine components in to custom finished products and for that I have to use SalesBinder/Quickbooks. I would love to have another Xero subscription that could do kit/build items.

commentedVery Important! We require this feature to be able to combine different service lines under separate GL accounts into one line on an invoice for the customer to see.

commentedWe manufacture products. Inventory management is really annoying without this feature. If it isn't resolved soon we are moving to software that can.

commentedWe have contractors and also internal labour, and would like to split their revenue on the invoice between accounts, but not to show this on the invoice.
 eg
 Sales - internal labour hours
Sales - contract labour hoursinvoice shows: Labour Hours

commentedI often manufacture products for sale as a whole item that consist of a number of parts, individually manufactured by me, or purchased. But the final product is sold as one whole unit. Thus the ability to sell an assembly, and to make the transactions necessary to consume inventory that goes into making that assembly is vitally important to me as a 3D printer.

commentedWe will have to move away from Xero if this feature isn't available soon.

commentedI've been a Xero user for a couple of years now but assembled product inventory is a pain. Will see if MYOB helps.

commentedbeing able to create mixed case items which are a combination of the various items we sell would be so much more time saving and would strike me as an enormously easy piece of dev work to create.

commentedI run a one-person business. Product is assembled from multiple sub-items before being sold in a make-to-order process. Key to managing the inventory is being able to assign sub-items to the product so that when the product is sold, inventory for the sub-items is automatically adjusted. QuickBooks supports this in a basic sense using a concept called "bundles". When you assign items to a "bundle", selling the bundle results in inventory adjustment for all the individual items and only the top level bundle item appears on the invoice. It would make Xero infinitely more useful if this process could be implemented. It is a major step towards more complete BOM management.

commentedXero needs to find an easy way for us to do what should be a simple process. There is no point is paying out for a full inventory management system if you only have a few components and a small number of SKUs.
Unfortunately Xero is unlikely to listen.

commentedconsidering switching back to quickbooks - it would be such a simple thing to add into xero - I just need to be able to define the quantities of individual components used in each product. Having to do it all manually with production invoices is really annoying and a waste of time.

commentedThis is a simple feature that is available in MYOB but not in xero.
It wouldnt be hard to implement - even by adding this into the adjust inventory section to allow to move multiple inventory items at once to offset each other.
 Not rocket science!
