User Permissions - Access to reconcile without viewing balances
It would be really useful if you could give a user permission to be able to reconcile and post bank transactions, but not see the bank balance.

We thank you all for sharing in the idea here, and understand there are many permissions that our Xero customers would like to provide on a more incremental basis. As you'll all know access to bank accounts is available to users with Adviser, Standard or limited access to those with Read Only roles - You can see more of the breakdown in our article here
With much of the teams resource drawn to work on the platform that'll continue to help us with the 'building on beautiful' experience for our customers we want to be upfront that there are no direct plans for altering the user permissions in this space just yet.
User roles and individual permissions within a bank account will be in the limelight once much of the platform upgrades are complete, but this is some way off atm. We'll return to share when there's any steps made to begin digging into bank account permissions.

It is vital than I can hide certain bank accounts from certain users view. Also the balances. A pretty basic option really.

It seems that Xero has its priorities wrong. Users are clear that this is a priority. Prettying up the interface isn’t

xero arent going to listen until new subscriptions slow down.. post these issues on their ads that pop on facebook or instagram so new users see the massive downfalls...

Why don’t Xero justify their lack of action on this? Is it difficult to program?? Are they short of staff? Don’t they care about their customers? Xero, what is the problem?

I have been asking Xero for the 'stop' feature since 2017 - I wouldn't hold your breath.

This has been raised under several different ideas in different areas with the same basic premise that user access can be personalised or be more differntiated than it currently is so the votes on this are well under recorded.
The only alternative seems to be different software as this has been requested for quite some time with nothing done by Xero about it. -

PLEASE PLEASE HAVE THIS IMPLEMENTED ASAP!
Our administrator should be able to reconcile bank transactions without seeing the overall bank balance!

of course, admin staff is trusted to raise invoices quotes, and chase money, I don't think ever in my life has that coincided with the same employees seeing how much money is in the bank accounts. We are giving the same visibility as the accountant excluding payroll, it just is not right. So now the employees see the bank accounts and next they ask for payrises because they do not see the full picture just the money in the bank. Cant believe this is not considered important. So now I discover they can also see the wages of all the staff......is anybody else not happy with this

For me its about having a separation of user levels, one should be for financial administration so invoice raising, reconciling and general accounts function, which is completely different from full access to all the profit and loss, balance sheet and complete financial performance of the company available to company owners/directors. I don't mind about bank account amounts access because that is useful in the role to make sure the amounts are correct but I do take issue with the performance of the company including profit and loss being accessible. I recently did a pay review and for my accounts administrator and because she knew the company was doing well actually quoted that to me for an additional pay rise. I was going to give her one anyway but because of this issue it put me on the backfoot which is poor. Please sort this Xero asap? Thank you.

This is the single biggest issue for us as a small business. I want to give our admin staff the ability to reconcile without seeing the balances of the business or permission them for certain accounts if it’s easier but something has to be implemented soon or people will move (us included) to another platform.

Come on guys.
Get with the times. I'm sure this would not be difficult.
Need to give us value for our money. -

This would be very useful indeed. Different tiers of access should be given with a basic version for reconciling, invoicing etc then moving up to a more finance director user level where everything else is available. There needs to be a difference between a finance/accounts employee and owner/director of the business. Please can this happen soon Xero team? Thank you!

User Permissions - Access to reconcile without viewing balances should not be complicated coding, nor expensive to make this happen. This is not an unreasonable request but it is critical to a lot of us out there.

I agree with all the other comments. How many votes does Xero need to implement the change? This has been an issue for years.

It would be very useful to have bank balances hidden. Another similar feature that we need is to enable a main bank account to junior staff, but hide completely any ancillary account - at the moment with 'see all bank accounts' or 'see nothing', it's either very tied down or too exposed, as new accounts staff start. Would appreciate this being brought to the top of the list for priority.

It would be great to be able to give users an ability to do bank reconcilition without giving them visibility of your bank account balance. Collecting invoices and matching them with bank payments and direct debits is time consuming and can be easily delegated to a member of staff but most small business owners don't want to give staff visibiity of what they have in there bank account. Hiding the overall balance but providng the transaction details through the bank feed or by business owners uploading the bank statements would enable business owners time to work on things that are more important.
