User Permissions - Access to reconcile without viewing balances
It would be really useful if you could give a user permission to be able to reconcile and post bank transactions, but not see the bank balance.
Hi community, your ongoing interest in giving users the ability to reconcile without viewing account balances is welcomed.
We understand why this level of bank permission control matters. As recently mentioned in my updates on this idea, while we do have current work for user roles underway there is more complexities to developing permissions within the banking space and this isn't on the immediate roadmap.
As we continue our journey to evolving roles within Xero we'll be sure to share any progress for permissions in bank accounts with you all, here.

Very important to have the balances removed. Our small business needs to expand but we can't have the employees speculating on the balances they we be able to see!

I need my staff to be able to reconcile but not see the bank balance. For staff members, if everything reconciles - then instead of displaying the bank balance - just display the word "Reconciled" . If it's not reconciled - then instead of showing the Balance in Xero and Statement balance - just show the difference. Having the difference may actually make it easier for staff to figure out why it's not balancing. For example, a staff member may have forgotten to enter bill and showing the actual difference instead of the two balances, then they might remember which bill they didn't enter .
This is becoming a deal breaker, I don't want my staff knowing the financial state of the company.

User permissions are currently "pick the role that's closest to what you want" and either live with the fact it's too much or workaround the fact that it's too little.
Just give us a picklist!
The gripe that sent me here is that there is no view for "invoice only" users that shows all quotes & invoices for a contact in one place. (Even though they can access this info via the Business menu). "Standard" users can see this info on the contact page.

This is of utmost importance! The balance can give employees the wrong idea of how the business is actually doing!

Rather normal I want staff not to see the financial status of the company.

This one is critical for our business. We need staff To be able to do reconciliations and coding to projects or tracking without seeing the company overheads or bank balance.
I’ve seen a lot of people asking for this. There needs to be more user permissions -

This is fundamental! Why is xero all or nothing when it comes to accessing financials?? Huge limitation and needs to be addressed. Seems a small fix that would have a very beneficial impact on users.

This is literally now becoming a deal breaker, seen plenty of users with similar views - can't believe Xero hasn't addressed this.

This is very important for businesses as they can not find trustworthy team members always to work on their business files. They can spread the word about business accounts have high balances which can be used by some other team members to request more perks or salary increments, without knowing funds required to run the business & pay suppliers & future growth of the business.

when are you going to enable this feature Xero? Us small businesses need our admins to be able to use all features of Xero without seeing all of our personal bank accounts.

This would be very useful for our small business as this would allow our office staff to do their job more efficiently without having the burden of knowing what’s in our bank account.

I see this has been a query by a number of people since 2019. I hope Xero looks into this sooner rather than later !
