This would be extremely helpful and seems extraordinarily shortsighted of Xero to miss such an obvious and useful tool.

As well as adding attachments, it would be handy to have some sort of filtering so you can search on a particular type of note (Eg Leave Forms; Onboarding Documents; Salary Review etc)

We need to keep copies of licences/inductions etc for each employee, would be good if it had a spot for that with reminders for expiry etc

The ability to upload a document to notes in the payroll section would enable sick notes etc to be kept with the employees record

A definite necessity to keep all employee information in one easily accessible place, without the need for paper filing. That's what we are all aiming for isn't it?? You can add a photo ( not critical in my opinion). Why not other files? Surely a minor tweak to an existing function?

Please give this feature your priority!! Given we can already upload documents to invoices, bills and contacts, surely it would not be that difficult to implement??

Add the option to upload a photo to the employee timesheet. ie: daily work docket

This is a business critical basic need to upload employee documentation.

Xero = please add the option to add a file to payroll, need to upload Dr certificates. Business's ask for them so must be able to save them as proof of sick leave. Very Important for businesses

Xero must take action immediately to fix this issue. It is inconceivable to offer a payroll system without the ability to file attachments to payroll runs and employees.

Come on Xero, we are paying enough for our packages to expect the full functionality we need. As many have said, it is possible to attach files in other areas, surely it isn't such a giant leap to add the same function in payroll???

My sentiments exactly @judymoore! Xero have not responded at all with a comment. Ignoring this seems to be the norm. Xero is good software but 'others' have caught up and indeed left xero behind in their capabilities and offerings.

Xero has not posted anything since April 2022, then you did in Aug 2024 telling us to buy an addin, that got deleted quick smart.

Why, when Xero lets you add documents to every other transaction, can't you add documents to employees?
For payroll, this is just as important, if not more important, as attaching an invoice or contract to a transaction.

This is a facility available in QBO Intuit and we use it ALL THE TIME! Certificates of qualifications, contract copy, sick leave evidence, anything that used to be kept in a hard copy paper file. Xero needs to develop this ASAP. It's not 1984 anymore. Catch up.

The Australian Tax Office requires us to keep copies of Tax File Number Declarations for each employee for at least two financial years after the last time you paid them (specifically, "If a payee has not received payments from you for 12 months, you must retain a copy of the last completed form for the current and following financial year.")

We are also required to keep the paperwork proving we gave employees the ability to choose where they wanted their superannuation paid, and we are required to keep that for 5 years after they leave employment with us.

Digital storage is fine, but we must store all employee-related files securely. Attached to their employee record would be perfect, as this is only accessible by people with reason to have access, and the accounts are kept secure anyway! Having to store these elsewhere means unnecessary duplication of file security measures.
