  1. Draft sales invoice. I would be helpful that when entering a sales invoice for a customer if Xero could advise/warn you that there is already a "Draft" invoice in the system.
    I add to draft invoices each week, and sometimes a draft that is already in existence gets missed.

  3. Add a 'Projects' column to Bills rather than having to click 'Assign expenses to customer or project'.

    As a company who have many projects that are a similar (or the same) name as a customer's company name, the current process results in expenses being assigned to a customer and not the project!

    A 'Project' column has been added in the new invoice template so PLEASE add one to the Bills as well!!

  4. When creating an Invoice from a quote within Projects, the newly created invoice does not retain any connection to the Project that the quote is linked to. This is very annoying and time-consuming - as the only way to then link the Invoice to the Project is to manually select and assign every individual line item, one by one and map them against the project. Surely this is an easy fix to keep an Invoice linked to a project as the quote was? Why would you disassociate an invoice from a project that it directly relates to??

    Hi team, I know it's been sometime since this idea was initially raised and we wanted to update you all here.

    We appreciate and understand why some businesses would prefer the acceptance of a Quote be sent to the organisation's reply to email address, rather than the user that initially created the Quote.

    While our product team have reviewed and are attentive to your interest in this, we want to be upfront that this is not something we currently have direct plans for changing the behaviour of.

    Our team will continue to review this idea and when we're in a position to assess notification and communications for Quotes, we'll share if there are any updates around this, here.

  8. It would be good to be able to filter the Business Snapshot by tracking category and show only income/expenses for each Tracking Category on the dashboard e.g by Department/Region/Product etc.

  11. Having the ability to invoice a percentage of each task in a project.
    Our company invoices as a job progresses e.g 20% of one task is completed the first month, and then 50% has been completed the following month.
    At this stage, I am only able to apply a 'discount' to alter the amount invoiced (while still maintaining the full contract amount on the invoice as a reference to clients).   13. Linking Purchase Order to Bill

    Purpose: To copy the details from the po to populate the forwarded bill from email fields.

    This would enable the ease of processing bills; using the data already on the po and verifying the costs accordingly.

    Also this is vital, so that you can match multiple bills to the same po.

If you have multiple invoices for the same client, a feature that allows you the option to automatically apply bank transactions receiving money from the client to the oldest invoices first moving closer to date would be mighty helpful. At the current moment, we have to manually split out each transaction to the invoices when reconciling bank transactions; it stands to reason that if you have a client with multiple invoices and they pay off in chunks, you would want to apply payments to their oldest debt first; having this as a selectable option for a contact / bank rule…

  18. While reviewing the short-term cash flow report, a client may realise that there is a bottleneck and spread out some bill payments by changing the payment dates. It would be great to be able to do this from within the Short-Term Cashflow (on the same screen that the issue is identified) to see the results immediately and the improvement in cash flow.

  19. Allow us to select 'reoccurring payment' in a repeating invoice for Gocardless in Xero.

    When Xero generates a repeating invoice that is setup for auto collection from Gocardless, it is classed as a new payment each time and sends the Gocardless customer an email everytime.

    In Gocardless when subscriptions were done through its own systems, they were classed as reoccurring payments and therefore as per BACS rules, the customer does not need to be informed everytime payment is taken.

  20. XERO Projects could do with a massive update!

    Similar to the main dashboard XERO Projects could also do with a dashboard where you can see a quick overview of what is due in the coming weeks, what is overdue, what is assigned to me, or what is assigned to staff I manage. What projects are in draft status and what projects are 'in progress'. Projects with amounts that need to be invoiced and projects where allocated hours to tasks have been exceeded or amounts allocated to estimated expenses have exceeded.

    Aaah I see, thanks for the clarification, Emma. Understand the difference between what you can get with the existing reports and what you're in need of. 

    I've shared with our Projects team. We're continuing to add Projects and while there's no plans at present I'll let you know if anything surrounding this is explored we'll share with you here. 🙂
