  1. Where payroll is handled through Xero, please block the ability for client users to post bank transactions to Wages expense account and Superannuation expense account. It is time consuming to recode entries to the Wages payable account and Superannuation payable account. I have told some clients several times to not use the expense accounts but they still do it. If access to the expense accounts could be blocked when payroll is done through Xero, it would save a lot of time fixing the ledger accounts.

  2. I would really like to see something similar to the sorting function on the Account Transactions report applied to the Transaction by VAT box and Transactions by tax rate pages on the VAT returns. This would make them so much easier to review, rather than exporting them to excel.

  3. Currently, I can export manual journals from a Xero organization for record saving. However, I cannot use the exported manual journals in Excel format to be imported to another organization directly. Because the exported manual journals show the GST amount in a separate line (GST account). Can you please add a new function to export manual journals for Xero importation? It means I can directly import the exported manual journals from one organization to another without editing.

  4. When importing bank statements on the import screen, it would be great to have the account balance shown on the screen.

    Yes it shows the latest transaction imported but some statements will have transactions for the same day shown after this transaction that may or may not have already been imported - you would have to go back to the bank statement screen to confirm the balance. Having the bank balance on the import screen would be a nice QoL adjustment.

  5. Our company's invoicing procedure comprises three steps:
    (1) invoice generation by our own custom software and also pushed to Xero through the Xero API,
    (2) direct debit payments manually added and processed via GoCardless (on their own website, not Xero's integration) for selected invoices, and
    (3) invoice reconciliation in Xero. This process is jeopardized when any alterations are made to the invoices in any of the systems (our database, Xero, or GoCardless), causing inconsistencies and the need for corrective credit notes.

  6. It would be nice to have the option to attach files when using cash coding on the bank. To attach a file, I have to go back to the bank recon tab, find the entry and then attach the file. This wastes a lot of time. A small attach file icon or the option to attach a file on the drop-down will save a lot of time.

  7. Xero Project feature idea

    • drill down transaction from Xero Project reporting
    • Report template Xero Project layout can not be saved to custom report template
    • assign project to Payroll
    • Inactive jobs, still showing in the list although its in the different section, in my opinion the inactive project should not show up at all, should make the same like employee list where there is a dongle to show inactive Projects.

  8. Require the ability to post net wages, loans, drawings without a contact. This information should not be accessible in the customer/supplier ledger/contact section.

    Hi Charlotte, can you expand a little on your needs or use cases for your idea here? 

    A wage would generally be connected to an employee in payroll. Managing a loan is a little different and we have suggestion of how to do this in our help here, and when it comes to drawings and introducing cash to the business this would generally relate to a specific shareholder and would be recorded as Spend or receive monies, if you'd rather not specify the contact you may want to set up a generic contact that you could code these sort of transactions too. 

  9. Ability to automatically calculate VAT using the marginal scheme.

    Purpose: To easily show correct VAT amounts when VAT is only charged on the Margin between Purchase price and Selling Price.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your interest in this idea.

    For now, I wanted to share that we're aware some users have the following process to record their transactions. The example uses a vehicle with a purchase price of £1500, and a sale price of £2000.

    1. Record the purchase of the vehicle on a purchase Bill for the full purchase price of £1500 with a tax rate of VAT Exempt. So the purchase is recorded in box 7 on the VAT return.
    2. Record the sale of the vehicle on an Invoice for the full £2000 - using the Tax Exclusive option, and then manually changing the VAT calculated to the required amount - £83.33 (i.e. 20% on the profit of £416.87 or 1/6 of £500) by clicking the small plus box above the Tax Rate.

    This will mean that you only charge £83.33 VAT for the overall profit figure, and ensuring the correct amounts are reflected in boxes 1, 3, 5 and 6.

  10. Currently expense reports are not fit for purpose. You can't even order non-approved expenses by date or export them.

    You need to be able to order unapproved expenses by date and by project/customer.

    You need to be able to add description and project/customer information into the expense claims report.

    Xero is **** at expense management frankly and with a few minor changes could be so much better. I should get a refund on my subscription for the wasted time.

    Sorry to hear your're not satisfied with Xero Expenses, Jeremy. Appreciate there are a few things that you've noted that you feel could enhance your experience when using expenses. 

    We do try to keep one idea per thread to make it simple for community to understand what they're adding their support and to help share this back with our product teams.   11. Please can a QTD column be added on the Accounts Watchlist rather than This Month? A quarterly client is requesting this as they view the Dashboard regularly and this would be extremely useful to them.

Hi Community, we need to have the option to copy part of the invoice when we are doing it, and then, copy that on the same invoice we are working, many times we need to invoice the same things to the same client but separate it by levels or offices into the same invoice, we can save a lot of time with this function when we are writing a big invoice.

  14. The assurance dashboard has been around for a while and it's great to have a number of checks accessible in the same place. However, there doesn't appear to have been much development in this area i.e. we are still not able to export out reports from the Assurance Dashboard.

    A client reached out today looking for an easy to run report showing bank account number changes.     Hi everyone, appreciate the feedback on my last question. I've slightly amended the title of this idea. As a bit of an update from when I last posted we have actually made an update in History & Notes as I know some of you were interested in - You can now Export to PDF or Excel from this screen and you'll find there are filter options to help you zone into the items you're most interested in looking at. 

  15. Add the ability to open an account transaction report by clicking on the number in a total line of the balance sheet or P&L. The linked account transaction report would contain the account transactions for all accounts that were being totaled.

  16. I often have 30 or so bank transactions (both credit and debit) that I need to on-bill/on-credit to a customer. The process described in https://central.xero.com/s/article/Add-a-billable-expense-to-an-invoice requires multiple clicks per transaction and does not work for credits.

    In addition, there is no indication in the bank transaction list that the entry has been assigned to a customer as a cross-check.

  17. Xero can you please add a Remaining To Allocate line on the bills screen. Most of my bills are split between jobs so a remaining balance to allocate would save so much time having to manually calculate entries. See example attached. Especially when working on the go so a calculator is not required.

  19. Our bank has changed from export of bank statements from OFX to CFONB (see below the new French standard) which is not yet supported by Xero! This has a huge impact on our workflow and time spent on getting our many bank transactions in the system. Can anyone help and vote for this to be upgraded as a format for bank transaction import..

  20. To show the invoice line detail in project reporting rather than a consolidated invoice line.

    You have to allocate each individual line on the invoice to a project but on the project report it consolidates to just one line which doesn't make sense when you put the level of detail at the invoice that it doesn't pull through that detail to the project reporting.
