Custom Reports - Add cashflow chart to custom report
I have successfully managed to create a custom report.
I now want to add on rows which give me the opening and closing balance each month to get a 12 month cashflow. Is there a way I can do this from the statement of cash flows (using the cash and cash equivalents at beginning and end of period)
When I try to add rows to my custom report it doesn't seem to offer to add, but only to group item is this something that could be considered.
I work for several charities and this report showing money in bank at start and end of month would be very useful.

Sales report - Monthly showing net amounts
We reconcile monthly sales with an internal ordering/salesprocessing system. This is good for checking to see if invoices have been missed and also to make sure that the net sales are the same in Xero too (another fail safe check). There needs to be a sales report that is easy to run off on a monthly basis showing net figures. Currently I have to run a couple of reports off - identify prepayments and delete them in the excel version, then add another column to work out net value. The latter is not always easy as some of our goods are VAT expempt! Please can someone design this or modify an existing report, so that I don't have to faff around which takes a long time. Thanks

Invoices/Bills - Ability to enter total amount first before entering the item lines
When entering a bill or invoice, you enter the total at the top then add statement lines, would be great if it showed remaining amount to be charged/ reconciled to reach the desired total. This would cut down admin time when reconciling bills after entering gst amount could show the total remaining as the non gst amount so you do not need to calculate the remaining amount.

Sales Overview - Colour Code Listing
Can you colour code each row in the "Sales Overview > Invoices" based on "status" so that paid invoice listings are "green", waiting payment are "orange" and overdue are perhaps "red"? At the moment the "Sent" column is the only colour coded column which shows "green" whether the invoice is just "sent" or "viewed" which doesn't make it easy to know which invoice to chase for payment.

Quotes - Update default exchange rates in footer, when using custom exchange rates
I would like to suggest creating quotes in multiple currencies should be the same as setting the exchange rate. As currently when we choose another currency when creating a quote, while the exchange rate still appears as the custom rate, the exchange rate that appears on the PDF is the default rate. We should all be on the same page.

UK Payroll - Disable leave accruals for employees on leave
UK. We employ temporary staff who do not accrue leave while taking paid leave they have previously accrued. The only way to reflect this in Xero is to manually adjust the leave balance. I would like to be able to add a pay item of paid leave that does not accrue further leave.

Reporting - Reconciliating Profit & Loss and Statement of Cash Flows
The existing 'Statement of Cash Flows' could be enhanced to be the bridge between the P&L and the balance sheet.
1. Term debt and cash are netted to give the movement in cash equivalents. If the statement differentiated between 'term' funding (in our case, reduction of term debt) and the 'cash at bank' balance it would better describe cash flows.Make repayment of loans a 'financing' activity. Currently it is wrapped in 'cash equivalent'.
The flows in Operating Activities would be more meaningful if it highlighted where to see changes. For example, working capital changes in the period under review in Receivables & Payables could better help explain cash flows.
Ultimately, perhaps, a reconciliation between P&L and Cash Flow?

VAT - Ability to sort, filter and search from within tax rate or tax box
VAT - Ability to sort, filter and search what is in each tax box or tax rate when reviewing a tax return. This will help when reviewing a return before submitting.
15 votesHey community, thanks for your interest and feedback on this idea 💡
Did you know that the transaction reports on the VAT return can be exported to Excel format where these can then be sorted/searched and filtered to help review the transactions?
We don’t have any near term plans to expand functionality to develop the ability to sort, filter and search within the tax rate box of the VAT return. If anything changes in the future, we’ll update you on this idea! 📢

Projects | Time Entries: Ability to sort by time started
Projects>Time entries
Currently only one view, in order of entry.
We enter start and end times for tasks.
Would prefer to have the ability to sort the time entries page by time started. That way a user can more readily identify parts of their day not yet entered.5 votes -

Cash coding - Ability to add invoices to cash coding
When you are in cash coding it would be useful to be able to add an invoice to the line before it is reconciled.
If clients do not use the bills function then attaching an invoice to a transaction is time consuming and fiddly.15 votesHi Simon, checking in on your idea here. Would this be to be able to view invoices that have been entered (like Find & Match) or to create invoices from cash coding?

Reconciliation | Ability to add tracking for "minor adjustments"
Tracking codes cannot be defined for "Minor adjustments", normally used when an invoice payment is incorrect by a small amount. These minor adjustments should be recorded against a P&L "rounding" account, but then when running a P&L across different Tracking Codes there are then always "unassigned" entries.
To that end an ability to define a tracking code at point of creating the minor adjustment, or to edit one in from the "rounding" account.4 votes -
Sales Invoices | Imported from WFM - Assign Contact Currency default
WorkflowMax has no understanding of foreign currencies. We now have WFM clients that are being invoiced in either Australian or US dollars as opposed to the standard NZ dollars.
Before sending the invoice from WFM, we set up the contact in Xero to have the following information:
Under Financial Details: Currency = US Dollar
Under Sales Defaults: Sales GST = Zero Rated and Branding Theme - US Invoice
Please see two attachments showing the settings. When we send the invoice (Approved) from WFM to Xero, the GST and Branding Theme are correctly picked up but the Currency setting in Xero is ignored. In Xero, the currency of the invoice must be manually changed from NZ dollars to the foreign currency the customer is using. Xero should also use the Currency setting specified and then the invoice can be sent without doing any further changes.

Invoice Payment - Automatically asking customer to register Auto pay
I will like an option that will force customer to register to Auto Pay.
All our customers agreed to use Auto Pay and most of them "forgets" or "don't see" the Auto Pay checkbox option. So, what happens, they pay thinking they have subscribed to Auto Pay.
This option will make our billing management so much easier.
A quick fix to that issue could be the following:
When they select the button "Set up auto pay", then the Auto Pay checkbox should at least be already selected.8 votes -
Blank Reports - Apply common date formats
I am having some difficulty with "Blank Reports". I designed a small divisional report which included only a small percentage of my P&L accounts. I tried to select a date range which is offered but doesn't work - the only date range that works is the current financial year. If you want to look at last month, last quarter etc - no luck.
When I brought this to the attention of Xero, their response was that feature isn't available - then why is it a report option. Their suggestion was to modify the P&L format which has date options that work - the problem here is they don't allow you to delete lines.
As Accountants and Business Managers we may want to design specific report for various divisions, projects etc and select only certain lines that are available in either the P&L ( as is my case) or maybe the Balance Sheet which I haven't delved into yet
Thoughts ??

Financial Statements | Schedule in Notes - Ability to change column headers
I would like to put fixed asset categories (plant and machinery, motor vehicles etc) as the columns, and have Cost, Depreciation, NBV - bfwds and cfwds etc in the rows underneath. See attached.

Bills - Allow the ability to enter .01 instead of having to enter 0.01 in Total field
Fix the Bill Total field to allow regular number input ability.
Specifically, allow the ability to enter .01 instead of having to enter 0.01 which is very unnatural. So, disable/remove the logic that requires the Bill Total entered to start with a number.
Use Case
- We get numerous invoices with a $0.01 total where the product may be an allocation or new line incentive. I constantly get a Bill Total mismatch because I enter the Bill Total as .01 which results in $1.00 bill total instead of the expected $0.01 bill total.
Secondary to this primary fix - Allow calculation in the Bill Total field, the same as the line entry does. I will say, I understand the logic for not having this field be able to calculate, but there are circumstances where it would be useful.
EG - A bill is offered with a payment terms discount and you want the invoice total representative of the Bill Total less the discount. CR Notes for Invoices/Bills is another common place where the Total field being able to accept calculations would be useful.
