Batch payment - Auto fill Reference
Batch payments - details don't copy over into right hand columns when doing batch payments . I have raised this with Xero and they have indicated that never been raised with them before . Has anyone found a quick solution to this?

UK Payroll - When setting up a deduction item in payroll we need an option to pick P&L nominal accounts
The problem is if you set a deduction item in payroll on Xero it doesn't give option to pick P&L nominal account, where reimbursements to employees should be coded. The only work around are journals, which is ineffective when you have clients posting payroll themselves and they need management reports each month, so you have to reanalyze and repost their payroll.

VAT - Reference if transactions has been included in a return
It would also be helpful if there was something that would show whether an individual transaction has already been included in a VAT return submitted and show which VAT return it was included in. For example in the account transaction report there could be a column that shows which VAT return the transaction was included in. In the individual transaction there could be a note below showing which VAT return it was included in.

Xero Projects - Add separate field for Project Number
Is there a way that within Xero Projects, we could have a field for "Project Number" and a seperate field for "Project Name".
Unfortunately we have found that some duplication of project numbers can happen within Xero as the project name and project number are within the same field.86 votes -

Hi Chloe, we don't generally develop integrations ourselves. Instead we have a Developer Centre where interested parties can get information and connect with experts that can help them develop and build an integration with Xero themselves.
I'd recommend sharing this link with Alto to see if this is something they'd be interested in developing.

UK Payroll - Timesheets for employees on Annual Salary
Overtime needs to be recorded on Timesheets and be included in pay runs for employees on a fixed annual salary.
We've been using Xero for 5+ years. It's brilliant in so many ways, and this basic functionality is missing, or rather, I expect is poorly coded.
We have a number of employees on a fixed, 5 day per week, annual salary, which is divided by 12 to generate their pay every month. However, it's not uncommon for them to work overtime: additional hours here and there and sometimes whole extra days.
Currently, the flaw (I really think this is a straightforward bug) in the system is that if we record an employee's overtime hours on a Timesheet, it deletes their basic salary. As Xero can't currently handle such a basic feature, it means keeping a note separately for each employee, outside the Xero system.
We use PlanDay to record employees hours for part-time employees and full-timer who work overtime. We chose PlanDay and use it, because Xero bought PlanDay and we assumed they would ensure that both apps were coded to work seamlessly together, but they really don't currently.
So we can neither use Xero, nor PlanDay to record such basic functionality and have to resort to separate spreadsheets and then adding the overtime manually.
Is it just me, or does anyone else have this issue?

Bank Feeds - Automatic Bank Feed with Maybank
Since October 2023 automatic bank feeds with Maybank are not working anymore. Before that, they worked perfectly fine, but since then they are not working, and have not been restored from Xero ever since. As per Support there is a technical problem, and they are working on fixing it for over a year now. So this is not even a new idea, but only the request to restore an important feature that already existed before. Please work harder on fixing this issue!

NZ Payroll - Set a Fixed Amount to be paid into an employee's bank accounts
Option already exists to have multiple bank accounts, however If bonus etc is process separately this option doesnt work as its a different pay run, it would be good to have a fixed amount option that lasts for the month and then re-sets, regardless of how many times employee is paid, after fixed amount is paid, balance goes into different account for that month and then re-sets

AU Payroll - Fixed amount leave requests for employs on an accrued leave balance
Currently, for monthly employees, Xero does not take into consideration the fact that they have been set up to be paid the same amount each month, therefore the days in the month are meaningless from a pay perspective. Unfortunately, this means that the basis leave accrues on to work out how many hours a public holiday/personal/annual leave day should be when leave is entered is also meaningless. Instead of defaulting to 7.6 (or 8) hours/day leave taken, it does a calculation based on the number of working days in a month. So if someone is being paid on the basis of a 7.6 hour day & leave is also accruing on that basis, but they then take leave in a month that has 22 days, the default for the day's leave will be 7.27 hours.
Obviously, this can be overridden, but when someone doesn't know that this needs to be done, the leave taken is nonsense.

Quotes - Option for feedback when rejecting
The idea is to develop a function for our clients to retrieve instant feedback from prospective customers on the rejection of a quotation they have received.
This can be in the form of an automated dialogue box where the prospective customer can give reasons/comments as to why they have rejected the quote i.e too expensive, found a better deal, specifications - lack of or incorrect etc.
This will save the customer time to know instantly what the problem is so when do give the prospective customer a call, they have a prepared response and enquire further as to how they satisfy the particular needs.

Reconciling | Add Details - Highlight bank feed Description
During reconciling, when adding details - Description section coming from bank feed could be auto-highlighted saving time, allowing it to be changed more easily, rather than having to mouse across to select or (triple tap trackpad). This way if it didn't require a change of description, we can tab across. But having it automatically selected when tabbing through fields would be amazing if possible. eg. of highlighted area attached.

Batch Payment - Allow the "Reference" field in bill payments to overwrite the reference field in the batch payments file
Currently when creating a batch payment, the bank payment details fields (Particulars / code / reference) are all drawn from the payee's Xero contact details page.
payment of some bills require an invoice number in the bank payment reference field (rather than just an account number), and this also helps to track which invoices are paid for companies with frequent / varied billing + auditing bank transaction list records.
It would be great if either:
a) For a specific bill, Xero reads the invoice number and places this into the "reference field" within the bill payments screen (usually works) AND THEN this overwrites the default reference field for that contact in creation of the batch payment line
OR

Bank Reconciliation - Show invoice due date as well as issue date
It'd be great if we could view the invoice due date as well as the issue date while reconciling payments.

Reporting - Rename published report
Once a report is published, there's no way to edit the name. I like to add a reference in the publish-name of a report so that I can easily find the specific one that I'm looking for in the list of published reports - especially useful when you're publishing multiple bank account reconciliation reports. Sometimes I forget, and the only way to change the name of a published report is to delete the report and re-create it.

Stripe - Collect payment in Xero
Is there any plan to add an option for collecting payments through Stripe directly within Xero? Often, when I call customers for payment, I am in Xero looking at the invoice, and the customer wants to provide a credit card for payment. Currently, I have to log in to Stripe to process the payment. It would be much easier and more efficient if I could charge the client directly from the invoice itself, don’t you think?

Quotes - Add delivery address to quote
Thank you for adding the ability to show both invoicing and delivery addresses on an invoice.
Please may you add the same functionality to the quotes? And as a follow on, if this option is selected at the quote stage, continue this onto the invoice as well when it is created.

AU Payroll - Show Reimbursement total in pay run overview
When you view a payrun, the breakdown at the top shows: Earnings, Taxes, Superannuation, Net Pay, Status & Payment Date.
When you view the details for any of the employees there is an additional field for Reimbursements at the top of the screen.
It would be great if the reimbursements total was also shown on the pay runs summary screen to quickly review and identify the total.
Especially when the clients run their own payroll and we are just reconciling.4 votes -
Invoice list - Show invoice number in message when invoice has been saved
When a sales invoice is created, when you get the message Invoice saved, please also displau the new invoice number, so that is doesn't need to be looked up.
