VAT - Partial Exemption Calculation
Ability to have a VAT partial exemption calculation.
Purpose: Because some industries (e.g. charity) have VAT partial exemption, having this ability would save users time in calculating the VAT.
42 votesHey everyone, appreciate that this idea's intent is to help save user's time in calculating the VAT, but I wanted to share that it is possible to record partial VAT exemptions, for those who aren't aware. We will continue to to track interest in this idea but in the meantime you can:
- Calculate your own your partial exemption adjustment amounts
- Enter them as VAT box adjustments on your non-MTD or MTD VAT return
Alternatively, if you use a set percentage adjustment you could do one of the following:
- Add a custom Tax Rate for your % rate.
- Adjust the VAT on each bill to the amount you can claim. Click the + next to the tax rate to do this. (You'll need to use the 'Amounts are' Tax Exclusive option to see it.)
We recommend you talk to your accounting advisor or HMRC if you need more help with this.

Reporting - Layout | Option to choose portrait or landscape

Purpose: To make the layout look more consistent between these two reports.
153 votesHi everyone, understand the confusion in some of the recent comments here. To explain how this works at present - A report will automatically default to portrait or landscape mode based on the width of the report. The more columns you add, Xero will automatically switch the layout from portrait to landscape mode.
The same report should not change from user to user, if you're finding this it may be worth checking your printer fit settings and if these differ.
We don't have plans for developing an option of whether a report prints in landscape or portrait mode atm, but our teams are across the interest of this, so if there's any change we'll share an update on this with you, here.

Ability to edit Inventory adjustment.
Purpose: Because it would allow the accountants to reverse the effect of any wrong adjustment.

Ability to search items by description through global search in Xero.
Purpose: To save time searching line items, especially for users who are dealing with lots of items.

Reporting - Customisable Contents & Cover pages in New Reports

Purpose: To make the report look more professional when showing it to the clients.
69 votesHi everyone, right now the only way to edit a cover page in Xero is when you're publishing the report template.
Then you can change the Title, Date and Prepared by options. To further change the cover page, you can export the report template to a PDF file and customise it using a PDF editor. This would also be an option for editing the page numbers
We made some changes in Report styles for our new reports in 2021, though this is only for practice users - They now have the option to choose from four font sizes, and can add a text watermark to exported draft and published reports.
We don't have plans to develop this functionality further in Xero atm, but we'll keep you updated if our plans change.

To allow multiple Fixed Asset Changes to be made at once and also selecting multiple Assets to Register at once.
Purpose: To save users time. Especially when dealing with large Asset Registers and users have to edit it one by one.

Purpose: User can sort into the customer that habitually pay late and take appropriate action.
171 votesHi community, thanks for your interest in this idea. Just wanted to pop in here to share, for those who aren't already aware, that you can export the Receivable Invoice Summary report. The report has a 'Last Payment Date' column that you can add to it which is useful for finding customers who habitually pay late so that you can take appropriate action.
To be transparent, building a feature to show the average days to pay by customer isn't on our roadmap at this time, but we'll be sure to update this idea if that changes in future.
