Reporting - Customisable Contents & Cover pages in New Reports

To make contents and cover page customisable in the New Reports.

Purpose: To make the report look more professional when showing it to the clients.

Hi everyone, right now the only way to edit a cover page in Xero is when you're publishing the report template. 

Then you can change the Title, Date and Prepared by options. To further change the cover page, you can export the report template to a PDF file and customise it using a PDF editor. This would also be an option for editing the page numbers


We made some changes in Report styles for our new reports in 2021, though this is only for practice users - They now have the option to choose from four font sizes, and can add a text watermark to exported draft and published reports. 


We don't have plans to develop this functionality further in Xero atm, but we'll keep you updated if our plans change.

    Adding my voice to this. I'd like to be able to place a logo on the cover without having to apply it on all pages, and I'd like to be able to add further details of our firm to the cover also.

    It would be great to be able to add an ACN or ABN on the cover page.

    Please allow us to insert and create our own customised cover page suited to our own branding like we are able to with XPM Tax Return cover pages.

    Our firm would definitely like to be able to have our page numbers on the right on our reports contents page and not the left, where it currently looks like we have dot points that are not in consecutive order.

    Would be great if there were more options to edit it. Currently the format of having "Financial Statements" in big bold letters as the header and then "Client Name" in small type underneath that is a bit backwards, the clients name should be the most prominent text.

    Would be nice to make the cover page look a bit more professional.

    Hi there

    We are moving towards increasing the usage of report packs within accounting software to streamline and standardise reports exported for compliance work like GST's, monthlies and now annual accounts. We'd like to be able to customise both the cover page and table of contents for the following reasons:

    1. The cover page is labelled based on the name we save the report pack as. This isn't super helpful when we need to create or save down variations of report packs for specific clients and want to put their name in the title to differentiate it. It would be great if we could overwrite the cover page to say what and how we'd like to show it.

    2. Regrouping the table of contents i.e. in our financial statements we usually separate out the fixed asset schedule as a supplementary schedule and summarise supplementary schedules below the usual table of contents.

    3. Whilst creating report packs we've had a number of instances where we've had to do a workaround to get the information we need. This has created for example multiple reports to create the multiple page notes to the financial statements section. However on the table of contents we just want one line and the page number reference to show the first page.

    I'd like to reference Xero Support case CX0014005186 for a full example of what we are looking for.

    Hi!
    I appreciate that all software needs to be constantly updated and although like a lot of others I am a fan of 'if it's not broken don't fix it', some of the new reports are messy and difficult to view, with a lot less structure to the old ones. That said, I do love Xero as a tool and have worked on quite a few other packages so that's a compliment & I will get used to them!

    I would ask that you to look at the Balance Sheet & P&L though; I reconcile them Sheet monthly but when i drill down into each ledger it reports for the full year.
    Balance Sheet - Choose Dates - end of May..... reconcile bank - the default gives 01.04.23-31.05.23. I should just show 01.05.23 - 31.05.23 especially if selecting 'Month' in the drop down box and have selected 'None' to compare to!

    It is a requirement of Accounting firms to have the words

    Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation

    If this was added to the front cover, or at least have the ability to choose that you want it, it would be a huge relief to nearly ever one of your Accounting firm users and as such I thought it would have been a priority.

    It would be great to have the company ABN on the front page for annual reports, end of year financial reports. Can you add an option to add this please eg:
    Organisation name
    ABN
    as at date June 2022

    I was able to insert a customised cover page for my tax returns I generate on XPM/Green xero.
    But for Blue xero, we're stuck with blue xero's default cover page. Please allow us to insert and create a customise cover page
