  1. Put all CIPC related applications in a separate secretarial Application. Beneficial Ownership has nothing to do with Tax, and I don't do tax so can't use Gatekeeper but I advertise Beneficial Ownership a lot and use a good, priced Beneficial Ownership submission to get my foot in the door and then try sell the client on Xero. You could also look at submitting Annual Returns to CIPC out of Xero as you have the clients Company registration number as well as their turnover.

  2. The Contacts listing in Xero shows amount owing on left and amount receivable on right, it would be more 'readable' to accountants if it were the other way around:

    They Owe - left side / debit / current asset
    You Owe - right side / credit / current liability

    As you've mentioned 2 separate reports I've split your idea so we can get an understanding of the community interest in each and keep you updated if there are any plans made.

I propose introducing a pre-profile pop-up in Xero XPM to provide immediate access to critical client information, including linked contacts, billing references, and direct hyperlinks to individual contacts. This feature would also allow for the configuration of custom reminders, ensuring that key client details and actionable prompts are prominently displayed to enhance staff efficiency and client service.

  5. When I started with Xero, we had a lovely monthly Zoom call with local Xero Accounting & Bookkeeping Partner Practices. Topics would be presented, but also we would exchange ideas for best use practices and workarounds and how to leverage Xero tools. We could discuss troubleshooting and compliance, etc. It was a great way as a business owner to network with other Xero-focused practices in my area, support one another, and share information. It would be great to see these come back one day!

  6. We've just found out to our horror that we lose access to ALL Xero historic accounts and tax filings prepared and submitted through Xero Tax for a client if the Xero sub is cancelled.
    Apparently this is because Xero needs to maintain access to the live data even for filed returns. Therefore, there has to be a process where ALL accounts and tax comps must be downloaded and stored elsewhere each year. We think that's crazy and that all filed returns should be stored in Xero Tax as PDFs. If nothing else, there should be a flag warning us! This…

    Hi everyone, appreciate raising this with us.

    Our product team has confirmed that these records are not deleted when an organisation is deleted, but they're moved into a hidden state. We're looking into how we can improve the storing of these within Xero HQ in future. If you need help with this in the meantime please contact our Xero support team via Xero Central.

  7. Would like the ability to see Write-ons / Write-offs on the Invoices dashboard for Draft invoices to allow easier review of drafts.

    Alternatively some form of reporting that takes draft invoices into account vs billable time to see 'draft write-ons/offs'.

  8. When you select option "D" at "Have you applied an exemption, rollover or additional discount?" of a CGT worksheet, the return should automatically grey out/disregard discount as a CGT method because you cannot discount a capital gain if you are using option D which is the 15 year retirement exemption. At the moment it automatically discounts the gain and causes an error which does not explain that you need to change the gain to other

  9. Create a Registered Office field in the contact details so that for client companies, we can have a quick view of physical/business, postal and registered office details. Currently, we have had to create a custom field, which you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to view.

  11. Ability to add multiple email addresses for tax payment letters.
    This would be great if looked into very soon.
    We have been manually entering additional email addresses which is a bit of a worry if a character is misspelt.
    When copy and paste is used the changes get made to all clients and is a real disaster.

  12. A quick link from this years (active) workpaper pack to last years (archived) workpaper pack for this client would be so useful and save so much time. Accessing prior year (archived) workpapers is such a 🥴 workflow at present.

    Ideally this would be available on the Workpapers page (where you can see all workpapers) and take you to the same for last year, and it would be available on every individual workpaper page (and take you to that same page for last year).

  13. We have a few jobs in the system for a client that was very complex and we have since disengaged. We want to write off all of the time but we do not want any team member to have their write ons/offs affected by these jobs, as the nature of them was incredibly complex and this was due to the way the client prepared and sent the information to us, and not the fault of any of our team members.

    Xero support has advised that there is no way to write off WIP without it affecting the staff that have…

  14. I learned the hard way after bulk importing 1,700 jobs on the wrong template that you could not delete those imported jobs in bulk. I spent 4 hours individually opening each job from a report and deleting.

    It would be great to use job manager to be able to select jobs (assuming they haven't got any time, costs or invoices associated with them) and delete.

  15. The ability to set up a repeating customer prepayment. We have customers who pay on account every month. We then create an invoice at the end of a billing period (Quarterly, annually etc) and then use their prepayments against the invoice. It would be useful to automate the prepayment creation so that we can reconcile the payment made by the customer to their prepayment. Creating the multiple prepayment forms every single month for all of our clients is tedious.

    Hi Reuben, thanks for the detail in your idea here - It sounds like you're currently manually creating the prepayment in Xero and then manually reconciling this once it's received in your bank account?

    Though not a repeat prepayment feature like you're asking however you could create the transaction right when you're reconciling - From the Create option in the Reconcile screen click Add details which will open the modal. Here you can click the drop down on the Received as and change this from Direct Payment to Prepayment.

    Totally get this doesn't automate the creation of the transaction completely, however could help save a few steps each month. LMK if this helps 🙂

  16. Ability to produce payment schedule that works with 31st July payment on account as DUE not already paid. When producing the return prior to 31st July.
    The attached file was produced prior to 31st July. The POA has been amended to show the correct figure due 31st July.

  17. Across Xero it would be very useful (and intuitive) to be able to type dates in formats other than dd mmm yyyy (for example dd/mm/yyyy, ddmmyyyy, etc). The dd mmm yyyy isn't the usual way to enter and clients have commented that it's irritating that they can't type the date in (they use the calendar instead) because it didn't occur to them to try this format, and even when you are aware the habit when typing dates into these boxes is to use one of the more common formats so it can lead to errors

    Hi Jonathan! Thanks for sharing this great suggestion about allowing more flexible date formats in Xero. We can see how being able to type a date in different formats (like dd/mm/yyyy) would be a much quicker and more intuitive experience for many, and acknowledge that this functionality is available within other areas of Xero.

    We've also added the supporters of this idea to these two similar ideas; New invoicing and Fixed Assets.🙂

  18. Could it be possible to create a video to explain about the particular features of the Xero function in their respective page? I am trying to better understand visually on how to navigate and use a particular feature within Xero.

    If not at the very least, link me back to the lesson where I can get on the feature in the Xero Advisor course? It would be helpful for me to revisit the topic.

  19. We have certain clients who are set up under a monthly retainer with all included tasks (scope) under the one job. We need a way to allocate and set milestones or due dates for certain staff at the task level of these jobs.

    The current milestones which can be implemented after a job template is in use has limited functionality as you can only set due dates from the start of the "job" not for each task as due.
