  1. IRD require the Authority to Act to display the Tax Number in full. When creating a word template in SuiteFiles, merging the TaxNumber field from XPM only pulls through the last 3 digits. This is not acceptable to IRD.

Hi Rochelle, many of our connected app Partners have designed and built their integrations with Xero themselves and are the best to direct any requests to for expansions of their integrations - We'd recommend raising this with SuitFiles support to see if they'd look to expand on this.

@anthony we have a Developer community where ideas for improvements to Xero's API best live - you can find this across here and I'd recommend engaging about this.

  2. Have Bank Feeds available from Nabtrade in line with all other types of feeds. I use Nabtrade for share trading and have a balance that adds interest monthly as well as buying & selling shares.
These feeds are not currently available it but should be arranged with NAB in these digital times.

Hey Ian, appreciate you sharing this idea!

Looks like we currently support most of the NAB Bank Feeds, but as you mentioned there's no support for NABtrade.

Rather than posting here on Product Ideas, I'd recommend using our 'Bank Feed Request form'

This one goes directly to our bank feeds team 😊

  3. It would be helpful to some clients if I was able to upload a photo of their signature for them so they can use that for Xero Sign. It would make it easier for the clients who are not so tech savy.

Thanks for raising as an idea, Rachel. Appreciate there can be learning involved in adopting tech like this. First checking with our product team in this space, I do want to confirm that this isn't something we're looking to develop for - For an e-signature to be legally binding this needs to be done by the signer themselves.

However, from within the portal there are a range of ways the signer can add their signature, one of these is uploading a picture of their signature. This means the image then becomes part of the adobe backed, legally binding e-signature rather than just an image of the signature.

Thanks for contributing your feedback fro this idea, everyone. Though appreciating the thought here, Xero is currently limited in our ability to solve this as the information only becomes available to us on the first of the month.

In lieu, and if not already set up we'd recommend enabling automatic activity statements - You can see detail on this in Xero Central.

  5. Payroll Posting

Please could you find a way to post payroll figures to the tax month rather than the calendar month.

The current system poses a problem for employers who pay their employees after the month end i.e. October payroll paid on 5 November. Currently the figures are posted to November instead of October which is frustrating for the employer as it means they need to do a manual journal for the figures to appear in the right month.

Hey Esther, thanks for submitting this idea. Appreciate that seeing the run in the next tax month can cause some confusion.

Currently when you post a pay run, the date on the journal entry will be the payment date of the pay run.

This is intentional, and is required for RTI filing.

HMRC have specific advice for when payroll reports are misaligned with payment dates and tax periods, and you can read more about that here

As such, there are currently no plans to change the ways pay runs are reported to align the payment dates with the previous tax month.

  6. It would be great if we could print reports to word allowing simple formatting prior to providing to the client, the download to excel requires significant formatting and while the PDF looks great it doesn't allow for flexibility eg to fit to one page, adjust wording etc

Hi Matthew, appreciate you sharing your idea here however do want to be open that we don't have plans for adding more export format options for reports.

Currently where needing to make adjustments to reports from Xero, you can export to Excel or Google sheets.

  7. Is it possible to revert the new layout on Jobs manager back to the old format - our practice works better with the old screen format - would be good if we had a option to revert back please.

Hi Trish, we don't intend to allow users to revert back to the old layout, but understanding detail of what you got out of the old that'd help in the new view would be great and maybe of interest to others in community here, too.

  8. International Edition Payroll is very basic. Salaries cannot be allocated to any branches or tracking categories. All debits just go to the Expense Head of salaries etc. Also there is no option to add an employee number that would show up in the payroll reports.

Hey Mukhtar, thanks for your post!

We don't currently offer an international version of our Payroll product. Instead, it sounds like you may have accessed the 'Pay Run' feature in Xero

Xero's Pay Run feature is a simple payroll tool you can use to pay a few employees in your base currency, as well as running pay reports and managing basic employee information.

I can confirm there are currently no plans to expand the feature set of Pay Run to include tracking categories or employee numbers as you've described.

I'd recommend checking out our Xero App store, to see if there's a app from one of our app partners that provides payroll in your local currency 😊

Hi Liz, we don't have plans to develop a fully open report builder. But it'd be good to better understand your needs and what you feel is missing from Xero's reporting at present?

Xero's Blank report can be used to create build a custom report from scratch at present and may help here?

Now when I click on the contact/name in the new report it only shows what is outstanding.

Hi Jarrod, as you've found the new Aged Summary flows through to the detail of outstanding items that are still payable/receivable. Being open we don't have plans for changing this.

Instead, you can view transactions of all these status by running the Receivable or Payable Invoice Summary and Detail reports

Grouping or Filtering by Contact should get you to the same level of data as shown in your image.

  11. Hi There

With the new job manager view we are finding that we have lost a lot of efficiency in the functionality of day-to-day job manager. Previously on the job page (now seen when we click on "mmanaged by", there is the tabulation of jobs due this week and next. Ths was a great tool for job management and workflow whereby we could click on these headers and view the number of jobs for eg due this week and work through these to complete. Now when this is clicked on it takes us back to the new job page full…

Thanks for your detail and sharing on this in Xero Product Ideas, Michelle.

While we appreciate what you're asking, we made a recent update that does impact your idea and wanted to share with you, here.

Recently, we removed the summary table in Job Manager, as all the information shown here is now available in the All jobs tab through filtering and pagination.

    You'll find from the All job tab that you can view Totals, these are located near the Search bar, and bottom of the page where pagination is shown. You can also set filters for the results you've noted;

    • Starting today - by setting a Start Date filter with > Custom date, and choosing today's date from the calendar
    • Due this week - by setting Due date to filter by 'This week'
    • Due next week - by setting a Due Date filter with > Customer date and selecting…

Hi everyone, I understand this idea is about WorkflowMax.

Xero is retiring its WorkflowMax product on 26 June 2024 and has entered into an agreement with tech-led business advisory firm, BlueRock, who are acquiring the brand. As part of this, they have commenced plans to offer a new product. BlueRock’s intent is that their new WorkflowMax product, WorkflowMax by BlueRock will be available to customers in early 2024. To reflect these changes we're moving this idea to 'not planned'.

You can read more about this on the blog.

  13. I would like Xero to be able to read bank statements so we can input historical data when we take on a new client. Some banks (Suncorp) only go back 365 days for OFX exports, so if we take on the client after year has ended we can never get all of the data by OFX and we have to manually enter the bank statements into a CSV file (very time consuming). BGL 360 has the facility and it is brilliant!

Hello Kerry, I’ve checked with the team about your idea here. While we allow customers to import historical statements manually for more than 1 year, the ability to provide OFX files and timeframes of these are determined by your bank, and not something we can control. So we’ll close your idea.

In saying that, we do have an existing idea in the Hubdoc space that’s similar to this one, which is about the ability to convert PDF bank statements into pre-formatted CSV files and is currently being reviewed by our team. Feel free to join in and add your vote there!

    Hi Brett 👋

Thanks for sharing your suggestion, and appreciate that you're looking out for your employee's personal data!

There are certain super details that do need to be included on a payslip, and you can read more about them here.

Because Fund name and / or fund number is a required field, we'll shift this to not planned.

  15. Would be great if you could add a Customer Receipt/Payment report.

Hi Kayleen, you'll find there are quite a few reports in Xero that you can run that will show you your contact activity and payments.

To start I'd recommend the Contact Transactions reports for individuals or the Receivable or Payable Invoice Detail reports for multiple contacts.

Alternatively, there's the Income and Expenses by contact report that could be of use here too.

  16. Could we please have a quick add for employees - as in create new employee like invoice, bill, contact?

Thanks for the idea and support here, all. We appreciate the valuable feedback on this idea. While we understand that the ability to easily add employees to the + menu would be beneficial to your workflows, we don't have direct plans for making this change within the create new menu in the foreseeable future.

We appreciate this is not the news you’d like around this but we do want to be upfront with you here to help you make the best decisions as needed for your businesses.

  17. We have staff on Annual Salaries, but have to pay them as "hours worked". This is not technically correct, as some weeks they work more than other weeks. Their annual leave and personal leave are based on a 38 hr week, but showing their working week as 38 hours is incorrect. Any way we can remove the "hours" on the payslips?

Hey Diane, thanks for submitting this idea 😊

Currently in Xero, when an employee is set to an 'Hourly Rate' earnings type, it is not possible to remove the hourly.  from the payslip.

This is in keeping with HMRC advice, that a payslip must display the number of hours, if pay varies depending on time worked. You can read more about that here.

However, if an employee is set to 'Annual Salary' earnings type, they won't see an hourly total on their payslip.

  18. Be able to see payment gateways on HQ explorer. For example - see ALL clients who are using Stripe gateway.

Hi everyone, as you may have received recent communication of we’ve made the hard but crucial decision to retire Explorer in Xero HQ from April 12, 2023.

With this change, ideas that are also directly related to the Explorer tab will no longer be considered. We appreciate your inputs to the forums here and if there's somewhere else within Xero HQ this information would be of value we welcome you to start a new idea for this in Xero Product Ideas.

Once removed, you’ll still have access to the below information:

    • For industry information, open the Xero HQ client list. Click on 'Customise Columns' and select 'Industry classification' so you can see it as a column in your client list.
    • For banking information, open the Xero HQ client list. Click on 'Customise Columns' and select 'Connected Banks' so you can see it as a column in your client list.

Thanks for starting the idea, Sarah. Appreciate that these links need updating.

Checking with our team there are plans to remove these links from within Xero Tax (NZ). Being an external site from Xero, it's possible that these could return an error, each time the IRD make updates to these pages.

To set the expectation here, we'll shift to not planned and I'll round back to confirm once IRD guide links have been completely removed from Xero Tax(NZ).

  20. Zapier Integration

We are always looking for automation opportunities and better ways of doing all things accounting. I would love to see a Zapier integration. Even if it is just data out, that would be helpful. XPM is, by contemporary standards, starting to look like a dated platform. Don't get me wrong, we are big XPM fans, but it is starting to show its age.

I don't know who goes first, XPM or Zapier.

The integration would allow third-party developers to generate much-needed automation, as well as simple things that each practice could do.

This would be something to best raise with Zapier, Warren.

Appreciate you raising the idea here. While there are some steps to being a certified app partner we have an API that developers can build and integrate with.

It appears Zapier already have an integration with Xero - It looks like you maybe interested in exporting data from Practice Manager and I'd suggest enquiring with them if this is something they'd explore.
