Xero Sign | Without needing to create a Xero account
Xerosign: Remove the requirement to sign up to a xero account to sign documents.
This frustrates the client and causes so much headaches for us that we have stopped using xerosign and now have to use a third party provider.
111 votesThanks for the idea and support here - We're sorry to hear this has caused some from making use of Xero Sign with your clients.
With the sensitive nature and detail of information that can be shared through document packs - creating an account and logging in is necessary to secure information.
We appreciate features like Document packs allow collaboration with others who might not regularly use Xero for their business - There's a special sign up flow that takes your client through a shortened version of the sign up flow if we detect they don't already have an account.
💡If your client is being asked to create an org as part of the process, it's likely that they've clicked the sign up option at the bottom of the screen instead.

XPM - Edit staff name
Need the ability to edit staff names in practice manager as we were able to in the past. The new staff screens do not allow this. It is not reasonable to lose the history of that person if we just need to update or fix a name.
68 votesHey community, popping in with a quick update to this idea.
Earlier this year we made a change to staff names, so they’re no longer controlled by the Practice Admin.
Instead, the Staff name you’ll see in XPM is tied to the User Name, giving the staff member control over how they appear.
We’ve also made a change to the way deleted staff will appear in Practice Manager. They’ll now display a ‘Deactivated’ tag after their name.
From reading the comments, it’s common practice to add a prefix to a staff name (such as ‘ZZ’) to identify them as leavers - this update removes the need for this workaround!

Reports: Bookmarkable link to reports
Currently when using the new reports, bookmarking a page in Xero will take us to the specific organisation that the bookmarked screen was in.
But when using the old reports, bookmarking a page in Xero for example Balance Sheet for the year ended 30/06/2022, when i click on the bookmark link it will bring me to the Balance Sheet for the year ended 30/06/2022 for whichever organisation i am working on. This makes it easy when i'm looking at multiple entities.
Since Xero is phasing out the old reports, can you please bring this feature into the new report?
54 votesHey community,
Thanks for all your feedback on this idea.
As you’ve found, users could bookmark reports and that bookmark would work across organisations. However, this caused some strange behaviour when navigating between organisations in bookmarked reports.
By including a unique Organisation ID in the the new report URLs, the data displayed is consistent with the organisation the report was bookmarked in. The result is that users can navigate away from a bookmarked report, without Xero updating the organisation.
To be transparent here, this was a deliberate change, and there are no plans to re-implement book-markable links to reports.

Xero Sign - Signature Pad
SIGNATURE PAD
It would be great if you could attach a signature pad to the computer so that a client can sign their Tax Returns on the spot without having to print the Tax Returns for the client to sign.
We love the convenience of digital signatures however some clients don't have their emails on their phone, don't have email addresses at all, or just refuse to sign electronically via email when they can just sign their documents when they are in the office.
We think that having the option to sign an an electronic signature pad, like you do…
52 votesHi everyone, after further review we're going to move this idea to 'not planned' as there are no plans for developing this functionality directly from Xero.
As mentioned in my earlier comments here there are a some apps in our Xero App Store that offer 'signature' based services.
It is best to explore these yourself and how they could aid in your business processes. App partners will be best placed to confirm if they provide capabilities to collect signature through a device with your clients. Thanks

AU Tax - Automatically create income tax return
It would be wonderful if at this time of the year income tax returns could automatically be created for the new year, where the prior year is completed and with rollover from the prior completed year.
Having to manually create hundreds of income tax returns is terribly inefficient.
23 votesThanks for your engagement in this idea, everyone.
The team have considered and thought about this in practicality. Tbh we do not have intentions to develop auto-creation of client income tax returns in Xero Tax - In the way Xero tax is designed, bulk rollover would potentially create 000's of returns at once, all appearing in Draft, and as a result would cause lots of noise for users.
It'd also create trouble and confusion in understanding where a client has come back, and what returns are being worked on vs those not started. And for clients that don't come back, you'd be left with an excess of returns in draft, requiring admin to delete.
That said there is a flow that could better accommodate this, and exists today - we provide a 'not started' state as well as recommending clients use the ITCRPT report to manage this workflow.
- The client would …

NZ Tax - Adding Correspondence to Tax Return
It would be great and more efficient if we could add correspondence to the tax returns, rather than have to send separately via myIR.
17 votesHi everyone, while we appreciate hearing how we could make processes more efficient for our customers using Xero, this is not an idea we would be able to take action on.
Inland Revenue do not currently allow correspondence to be sent with a tax return via the Gateway services. This may be feedback that you could share with your IR Account Manager. Thanks

Xero Product Manager app
Don't turn off the XPM App in Nov 2022 - it is so handy to capture time on the fly or on another device whilst working on the screen
13 votesHi community, thanks for your feedback on this here.
We’re on a journey towards creating more value for you in the long-run, and want to be upfront that we will not be reinstating the XPM app - We've had to make some difficult decisions to remove and change some less-used features, so that we can focus on creating the additional value.
You can still access all the functions of the XPM app on-the-go via your XPM desktop login. Though we appreciate this is a change and isn’t necessarily as convenient, we believe the added value that we're planning to launch in desktop XPM will be a bigger benefit to you in the long run, including more streamlined workflows between our practice tools and additional functionality when managing jobs and clients. -
The new Xero implementations - becoming very frustrated!
I am finding the inconsistent implementation of the new Xero style mixed in with the old incredibly frustrating. The new style screens are slow to load & enter data, the tabbing and typing a few letters then hitting return either doesn't work (add payment) or is inconsistent between screens, entering a new customer on the fly is frustrating because you can't enter all the information at once & still have to open the full contact edit screen to complete it, also the new contact pop up doesn't autopopulate addresses as you type, the send remittance button disappears if you get…
12 votesHi everyone, sorry we've not responded here sooner. As we upgrade technology we are mindful of the impact this can have for our customers. We understand changing features and learning new flows and the ways of performing some actions can be a big transition for customers.
In particular, as mentioned in your feedback here with new invoicing. To support as much as possible during this time, we're providing lots of information through means of blogs, education and guides on Xero Central.
We're also continuing to iterate and develop new features into new invoicing that we know our customers want.
An example of this are recent improvements we made to the 'Contact' field adding the ability to look up your contact address, edit or add the Attention field, and adding more address lines.
I have made sure your feedback here is shared with the team, however we do want to be…

NZ Tax - Multiple IR833 Forms
At the moment, we can only add one IR833 per client when doing tax returns. It would be great to have the ability to add more IR833 forms, as otherwise, if the client sells more than one property, we need to file the forms directly through the IRD, which can be time-consuming.
11 votesAppreciate you sharing back in ideas with us here. IRD requirement changes mean that the IR833 form can’t be filed as a standalone return and must be sent as an attachment to a tax return. Only one form can be attached per return.

Xero Tax (NZ) - Allow nil FIF amount in IR3
The format of the 2023 IR 3 return does not appear to allow for a nil amount of FIF income. When nil is entered (which will be the case when the CV method produces loss), an error arises. The disclosure of FIF income (even if nil) may be important for statute barring purposes and will also avoid subsequent queries from IR (once exchange on information between countries lands on IR desks) on why a taxpayer may not disclosed offshore dividend income (where those dividends arose from FIF investments). The suggested fix of amending or notifying through MyIR seems to defeat…
11 votesHi community, though we appreciate your feedback here there are limitations on what combinations of data can be submitted via gateway services and these are set by IR and Xero tax must conform to these rules.
We'd recommend contacting your IR account manager on the best way to file this return data.

Xero Tax(AU) - Change end date to date of death
For deceased individual clients, the period end date for their final tax return needs to be changed to their date of death. The tax return should not still be reporting the entire financial year.
There is a cell where we are able to input client date of death.
Recommending for product team to code this update so the period end date of these individual tax returns are also updated to reflect the Date of death.
11 votesHi everyone, while we appreciate you raising the idea for this here, we want to be upfront that this is not something we're looking to develop.
For electronic lodgment, the ATO's requirements to report the whole year with data of death as an extra field. There are validations and calculations that use this date. This is different to paper lodgment.
As this is the case, we will not make the end date editable.

AU Tax - Pre-fill Activity Statement
Ability to pre-fill an Activity Statement (BAS,IAS,QPIN etc) before month end/ quarter end where the activity statement is available on the tax agent / business portal.
10 votesThanks for contributing your feedback fro this idea, everyone. Though appreciating the thought here, Xero is currently limited in our ability to solve this as the information only becomes available to us on the first of the month.
In lieu, and if not already set up we'd recommend enabling automatic activity statements - You can see detail on this in Xero Central.

Hubdoc - Ability to see the documents that have been reconciled in Xero
I want to see in Hubdoc which receipts have been reconciled in Xero.
Currently there is no way to know which receipts are reconciled with charges from credit card and which are not, except that I re-publish and get an error of not being able to re-publish because the transactions have been reconciled. For credit card reconciliation, NOT all purchases from vendor will be charged immediately9 votesHi team, thanks for raising your ide with us here. While we appreciate the rationale for wanting the ability to view when a document has been reconciled within Xero, in Hubdoc we want to be open that this isn't something that we have plans for developing into the Hubdoc product any time in the foreseeable future.

Adjusting Quantities in Quote Information Tab
Being able to adjust quantities in the main quote / information tab, rather than having to go into each cost in a new window to change the quantities.
5 votesHi everyone, I understand this idea is about WorkflowMax.
Xero is retiring its WorkflowMax product on 26 June 2024 and has entered into an agreement with tech-led business advisory firm, BlueRock, who are acquiring the brand. As part of this, they have commenced plans to offer a new product. BlueRock’s intent is that their new WorkflowMax product, WorkflowMax by BlueRock will be available to customers in early 2024. To reflect these changes we're moving this idea to 'not planned'.
You can read more about this on the blog.

XPM | Job Manager - Tab for My Jobs
Can we please have a tab for My Jobs (like the old format). It is much quicker to click on a tab than navigate via filters.
4 votesAppreciate the feedback around changes for Job Manager, everyone. Being open we don't intend to allow switching back or access to the old view, however we'll continue to develop new Job manager to make this experience even better for our customers.
If you have access to All jobs you can get a view of 'My jobs' by filtering the All jobs list by Staff or Manager to select yourself. We know this may be something you commonly want to view and you can Save your filtered view to easily access next time you return - see more on this here

feedback
I feel like a dedicated feedback board would be useful. As I don't feel there is currently an appropriate place to give feedback and notify support of things that are not working properly.
For example, I have the new GST returns to trial and there was an actual feedback box in Xero. Where i gave the feedback that i liked the new features but not the look. Now the feedback box is gone and I have just noticed that it tells you that there are unreconciled lines to code. But, they are for the next GST period. Plus the old…3 votesHi Dylan, the team have looked into your idea here and the behaviour you're describing isn't expected and does appear to be more of an issue than idea.
If possible could you please raise a case with our team of specialists at Support and we can take a deeper dive into this with you to work out what's going on. Thanks!

Create a Xero integration with Financial Cents
Financial Cents has created the best practice manager I have found and would like to integrate with Xero but is not receiving much cooperation. I and several other Xero users would appreciate the integration.
3 votesHi Glenn, we don't develop many integrations ourselves but interested apps can build these themselves. It sounds like this might be something Financial cents are looking into. It might be worth sharing this link to our Developer platform where there are experts and lots of help in developing an integration with Xero.

NZ Tax - IRD guide links broken
All the IRD guide links are not working in the 2022 tax return. The pages references also refer to the 2020 guide. If these are provided it would be helpful for info to be correct.
3 votesThanks for starting the idea, Sarah. Appreciate that these links need updating.
Checking with our team there are plans to remove these links from within Xero Tax (NZ). Being an external site from Xero, it's possible that these could return an error, each time the IRD make updates to these pages.
To set the expectation here, we'll shift to not planned and I'll round back to confirm once IRD guide links have been completely removed from Xero Tax(NZ).

Banking - Read bank statements
I would like Xero to be able to read bank statements so we can input historical data when we take on a new client. Some banks (Suncorp) only go back 365 days for OFX exports, so if we take on the client after year has ended we can never get all of the data by OFX and we have to manually enter the bank statements into a CSV file (very time consuming). BGL 360 has the facility and it is brilliant!
3 votesHello Kerry, I’ve checked with the team about your idea here. While we allow customers to import historical statements manually for more than 1 year, the ability to provide OFX files and timeframes of these are determined by your bank, and not something we can control. So we’ll close your idea.
In saying that, we do have an existing idea in the Hubdoc space that’s similar to this one, which is about the ability to convert PDF bank statements into pre-formatted CSV files and is currently being reviewed by our team. Feel free to join in and add your vote there!

Xero HQ - Bulk linking Outlook 365 client activity
We love the idea of linking our Outlook 365 emails to Contacts in our practice Xero but I can't see my colleagues emails and she can't see mine unless we add them to the clients activity. At the moment, we will have to add each email one at a time. The ability to "bulk add" to activity would be a game changer as my other team members would be able to share their emails with us too.
3 votesSorry no one's updated on the idea here sooner. With low partner usage and the big investment required for upkeep, we retired this integration from March 2022.
The app was removed from Outlook meaning you can no longer save emails against client records in Xero HQ.
There are alternative ways of saving emails against client records, which you may want to explore in the Xero App Store
