Xero HQ Insights - P&L Data & Selection options
Hi,
For the Profit and Loss data (Revenue/ Expense/ Net Profit), should be an option to select last month as currently it's bringing up mid month data and comparing with full month information (ie. running the report 20th October and comparing with either full month Sep 2024 or full month October 2024. A lot of clients invoice end of month or after month end so adds little comparison value.
For Cash Balances, ability to select which bank accounts are displayed might be worth considering. Currently showing loans, which skews the information into negative.

Xero HQ - Sync custom fields with XPM
We are trying to move all client records to Xero away from a different software provider but we need custom fields that we have built in Xero Practice Manager to be synced with Xero HQ please. This way we will be able to filter our clients using the custom fields that we have created which will then match what we can do in the software that we are trying to move away from.
3 votesHi team, the Xero Partner Hub will be landing with partners from early 2026, and will get rid of the need to sync records. All client data and fields will be bought into a single location to help you seamlessly manage your practice! 🙂

Xero HQ - Sync custom fields and client notes
Sync all data to Xero HQ.
We have been moved over to single client record and need notes and custom fields to be synced as well please.
This would prevent the need to manually update client records and prevent risk of out of date data.

5 votesAppreciate the need for succinct records, and we're pleased to share that this'll soon become a thing of the past with Xero Partner Hub - This'll combine your practice tools into one centralised experience. Meaning you have all client details in one place, no more need to update in HQ and Practice Manager 😊

User access - Administrators HQ access to client files
We are getting an increasing amount of (sometimes angry) pushback from clients where when we add Administrators to our HQ account, they are automatically given full permissions over any linked client Xero files, as well as all our ledger files. We are a large firm with over 15 Administrators.
Please give us the ability to CHOOSE, if we want to add all administrators to all files.
OR
Create an administrator role that doesnt need to add them as a USER to each client file.Imagine you have a Xero file for your own personal business, and suddenly notice 13 people…
7 votesHi team, we understand and appreciate the concerns around permission sets and giving staff access to clients. The Xero Partner Hub will introduce new permissions with more granularity to control what your staff can see and access within client files. These permissions will be independent of the practice role and can be assigned to anyone.
The Admin role will continue to have automatic access to practice owned orgs, however you may like to consider whether existing staff still need this permission or if they can instead be given the Standard role with additional permissions for managing Clients or Staff. Xero HQ - Alphabetise client list in Xero staff
At the moment Xero doesn't have a list of clients in alphabetical order when I go into Staff to amend access. With over 200 clients, it is taking a long time to sort it all out, even if I use the search box.
Please include functionality so that the client list in Staff is in alphabetical order by default, the same as it was in My Xero staff.
I would also like to see a number value next to the staff member's name showing how many clients they have access to. As you may have heard recently announced - we are launching Xero Partner Hub in the coming months that'll bring your practice tools into one centralised experience. As part of this change you'll receive an updated client access management experience, including the ability to sort the list by client name.

Xero HQ - Client Groups Reporting
I use 'client groups' extensively in HQ. I need to see which clients are not in a group at all, and which ones are in more than one group, but this is not possible. Please allow us to report on which groups each client is in.
27 votesHi community, just jumping in here to share that we have recently made an improvement to the groups feature in Xero HQ 🎉
Within a Client record, you can now see what groups they belong to, and add or remove them - check out this article for more information. Please note, this is not available as a report, but is available on a client by client basis.While the team have been really busy working on the single client record, they also hope to introduce a Groups list and group details (similar to what is currently available in XPM) to increase the ability to manage Groups within HQ. We’ll be sure to return & update you here when that’s available.
