Ability to produce payment schedule that works with 31st July payment on account as DUE not already paid. When producing the return prior to 31st July.
The attached file was produced prior to 31st July. The POA has been amended to show the correct figure due 31st July.2 votesWe're grateful for your engagement and letting us know the changes that matter to you.

More accurate reporting for disposal and acquisition of shares within Xero tax
For the capital gain worksheet, it can't enter the number of the shares sold and bought. Most of time, the shares sold and bought will operate in different time during the year, it is more efficient to have the number shares match between sold and bought figures.
And also can transfer the worksheet to another partner is they are 50%, reduce time to enter again.

Transitional profits split
When entering transitional profits that were calculated in the 2023/24 year and are to be spread evenly over 5 years, Xero Tax produces an error saying the 2024/25 claim must be at least 25% of the remainder to be spread. This is not correct.

VAT report for monthly/periodic analysis
We have clients where a sigificant proportion of their sales are Zero rated, which can significanly affect both net and VAT totals in certain boxes as well as the overall value in box 5 to be paid/repaid.
Could you create a report that allows the totals in boxes 1-9 to be listed, allowing comparison with prior months or periods or years.
This will be useful to see, say, the last 3 months or the corresponding prior year amounts so that percentages can be reviewed.

NZ Tax - Ability to identify payment plan with IR
Would be great to have the ability in XPM tax to identify if the client has a payment arrangement with IR. If there is somewhere in tax we can enter this information and this gets flagged when approving the tax payment letter, not to send the letter if the tax year is under arrangement.

Xero Sign - Automated Notification of Xero sign Bundle Expiry
Automated reminder for Xero Sign Bundle expiration
I have just been caught out again with expiry of unused transactions in my signing pack of 150. Instead of being cut off at expiry date or having to remember to go and look it up could there just be an automated reminder. Also, for us small sole traders it would be great to have smaller bundles than 150, even 50 at a time. Even better, why not let us use all of our transactions we have paid for. Still need an automated message that they have expired.1 voteHi Angela, thanks for letting us know an automated reminder for your Xero Sign bundles would be a huge help, and we really appreciate you bringing this idea to our attention. For now, the best way to stay on top of your usage is to manually check your remaining transactions and the expiry date in Xero HQ > Xero Sign. A good workaround is to set up your own calendar reminder 🗓️ to check in on your bundle regularly. This will help you avoid any last-minute surprises. Right now, an automated notification for expiring Xero Sign bundles isn't on our immediate roadmap. However, your feedback is incredibly valuable and helps us understand which features are most important to you. We'll be sure to keep you in the loop on any changes to the status of this idea. 🔄

NZ Tax - Customise declaration
It would be good to be able to customise the Declaration that is just above the signing line in the Tax Returns. The default wording is quite broad, and it we would prefer to be able to customise it to reduce our risk. Clients are not always truthful in reporting all income, and we need to protect ourselves.
4 votesThanks for sharing this idea with the community. We can understand why being able to add specific wording to the client declaration would be useful.
This idea is open for voting and comments from the community, and we'll be keeping an eye on its progress to gauge interest.
In the meantime, while it's not possible to edit the declaration on the return itself, you can add your own custom text and disclaimers to a cover letter that you send with the tax return. This might help you manage the risk you mentioned.
You can learn how to create your own templates for this here: Customise the cover letter for a tax return.

AU Tax - Rental schedules with comparatives on the same report
I have a client who holds 4 rental properties all of which had significant differences from the previous year creating a large increase in tax payable. They have asked for an explanation, and it would be more efficient and easier for them to understand, if the comparatives could be on the same report as the current years figures so they were only looking at 1 piece of paper for each property. You can see the 2 years information on the screen but it would be preferable for some meetings to be able to have a hard copy. Thanks

Xero tax: Display the financial year when lodging a CURNN
Currently when producing and filing (lodging) a CURNN is does not display the Financial Year it relates to. It would be very helpful to have the FY displayed so it is easily identifiable. The same as all the other Tax Returns.

NZ Tax - Notification when there is overdistribution of income types in an IR6
When making distributions to beneficiaries, we are able to distribute more than the income type recorded i.e. if there is $1,000 of interest income you can distribute $10,000 of interest income to a beneficiary if there are other types of income and it doesn't put the total at keypoint 21B in the return to a negative figure. It would be helpful if the over distribution of interest was picked up by the audit check.

NZ Tax - Ability to add multiple default email addresses for tax payment letters
Ability to add multiple email addresses for tax payment letters.
This would be great if looked into very soon.
We have been manually entering additional email addresses which is a bit of a worry if a character is misspelt.
When copy and paste is used the changes get made to all clients and is a real disaster.27 votes -

Integration with Fusesign
We use Fusesign as our e-sign solution and it would be great to have the option to send a document directly into the signing software. We've seen a much higher engagement level with Fusesign than any other e-sign product as it doesn't require another login, it uses SMS/email verification instead.
A direct link would smooth out the workflow from the tax product > signing (and maybe even into client files in FYIDocs).
2 votesHi Matthew, it appears that FuseSign is already an integrated app Partner with Xero. As they've designed and built their integration with Xero themselves they'd it'd be best to approach their support to see if this is something they'd consider extending their integration for.
You can find their support contact details at the bottom of their app store listing.

AU Tax - Consistent rollover of percentages in individual deductions
There is a difference in functionality between D5 and D8 in the AU individual tax return form. When deductions are entered in D5, the default deductible percentage is 100%, and whatever percentage is entered here (eg 40% phone) is rolled over when the tax return rolls over to the next year.
In D8, the default deductible percentage is 0% (inconsistent with D5, easy to miss when quickly completing a tax return, requires you to manually type '100%' every line item - why would you enter a 0% deduction?) and the manually entered percentage does not roll over to the next…

AU Tax - Xero Tax Trust Estimate For ALL Trust Types
We need a Trust Estimate to be included in Trust tax returns for ALL types of trusts. Xero recently added a trust estimate but it is for Deceased Estates Less Than 3 years only. This is not useful. This type of trust is a very small percentage of the trusts that our firm has.
We need the estimate to be able to calculate -
- Deceased Estates More Than 3 Years
- Discretionary Trusts where there are Foreign Beneficiaries
- Discretionary Trusts where there Minor Beneficiaries
- Discretionary Trusts where there is no beneficiary presently entitled136 votes -

NZ Tax | AIM - View mapped accounts
When drafting AIM reports in XPM, it would be helpful if you could hover over the box number and it lists the accounts that are being mapped there as opposed to changing report codes in blue Xero and continually having to update the AIM report to see if accounts are mapping correctly.
2 votesThanks for sharing, Amy. Not something we have planned at this stage but we'll begin to get a sense of the interest here and let you know if there are any changes for this.

New FRS102 and FRS105 changes (income recognition and leasing)
Development of new functionality to meet the new FRS 102/105 requirements following from the FRC Periodic Review. Key changes are around income recognition to be based on delivery (known as the 5-step model), and an on-balance sheet treatment for operating leases.
These requirements apply to accounting periods beginning on or after 1st January 2026,
For the income recognition, the functionality would ideally be embedded in invoicing (and potentially products and services), and this would lead to the correct bookkeeping including disaggregation and recognition of income on delivery, as well as contract debtors and creditors. This new requirement applies to all…
